The Belo Horizonte Street Circuit is a 3.1km (1.93 mile) street circuit set around the Mineirão stadium in Belo Horizonte. We developed this circuit as part of a collaboration with Stock Car Pro and their design team for their first street race in a decade. Drivers were able to test drive the circuit and provide feedback to us and Stock Car Pro, which allowed for adjustments to be made… all well in advance of the race later this year. Could you imagine such changes being made in the week leading up to the event, while trying to set up the barriers for the temporary circuit? For such an important race, Stock Car Pro brought us in to help make sure the track would be perfect for this new feature event on their calendar. It was really cool working with a professional racing series in such a capacity, and now we are excited to be able to offer this track to the general public.
This track was developed using Lidar data to ensure the accuracy of the streets, and we were blessed to have one member of the Authentic team who lives in Belo Horizonte. They were able to provide detailed reference photographs and feedback as a native of the city. All of the buildings directly trackside to the circuit are scratch built to match the surroundings of the actual street circuit. We’ve also added several fictional layouts to the circuit so that there are four total layouts to try, including short layouts with the chicanes, and then counterclockwise full and short layouts as well.
