I have purchased a Jimny Nexa blue colour, manual transmission Alfa version. Overall, i am quite satisfied with the vehicle. The Jimny is legendary off-road and you can view a lot of videos of its prowess on RU-vid. This is not a vehicle for everyone. Think of it as an off-road equalent of the Volkswagen beetle. Maruti deliberately decided against bringing the three door version for reasons of practicality and developed the five door version specially for India. Being a niche vehicle, they have decided to price it at a premium. Iam not going to compare the jimny to the Mahindra Thar, as both vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses. This is a proper offroader with a separate transfer case and solid axles. The jimny uses suzuki's most sophisticated four wheel drive system called All Grip Pro. A brake locking differential system applies brakes on a spinning wheel to transfer torque to the opposite stationary wheel. With proper mud terrain tyres, the Jimny is formidable off-road. Please note that there is no center differential and one must not use four wheel drive on hard surfaces. The small width and light weight of the jimny makes mincemeat of challenging terrain and this is truly the modern equivalent of the legendary Maruti gypsy. Being a Suzuki underneath, you can expect years of reliability and the build quality of the vehicle feels surprisingly robust for a Maruti. Expect fuel economy of 12kmpl overall. Criticisms would include the irritating 90 second seat belt alarm that would blare even if no one is seated at the rear because the bean counters at Maruti decided to skip on seat sensors and the mediocre plastic quality. The stock tyres are highway terrain type. Stay on these if you do not do serious offroading.
Better go for 2nd gen of 5 door Jimny. In 2nd gen Maruti'll fix all major issues reported in 1st gen and may add missing features like height adjustable driver seat.

ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് കാർ, ബെൻസ്, ഹമ്മർ, ജീപ്പ് ,പജീറൊഎന്നിവയ്ക്കൊപ്പം ഓഫ് റോഡ് ചെയ്യാനുപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ജിമ്നിയെ, ജീപിനെ കോപ്പിയടിച്ച് നിർമിച്ച താറുമായി ഉപമിക്കുന്നത് ജിംനിക്ക് നാണക്കേടാണ്.
