For the @MattsOffRoadRecovery Offroad Games we got partnered up with Ed Bolian from the RU-vid channel @VINwiki. The idea is that we have to teach and spot these non offroad youtubers on the trails at Sand Hollow during the Offroad Games. Ed's channel is all about car related storytelling. He is a pro at driving but it's mostly Lamborghinis and fast cars. His cohort @christophermichaels drives a Big Dodge Truck. Will they be able to handle what we are about to throw at them?

Main advice is keep your tires on the high spots and keep it as level side to side as possible. Don't hit your diffs and don't keep it bouncing when climbing walls 😂

I really enjoyed the first hand commentary and reactions from someone who is not used to a vehicle going over such obstacles😂 Really brings the trail experience into perspective of one who has never driven in windrock just yet! Even for a guy that normally doesn't want to wear shoulders, that first trail was a completely appropriate time to wear them. At least put Ed in a harness so he has something to grab on to. 😆

Boy that is one tough trail truck how many people has that thing broke in. Its really not fair though having the top notch spotter on site. Without I think there would be massive breakage. Still impressive as hell.

One of the first things you have to teach someone who's never driven a vehicle with a low range is throttle control. It showed that Criss has had more experience than Ed as he was a lot smother with the throttle.

Matt, a good way to teach them how to drive a buggy or a rock crawler is to let them use an R/C rock crawler, that will teach them the nuances of lines and steering

It has them,you can see them in various shots. No clue why he didn’t at least have the newbies wear them. Being fully contained gives so much more confidence. I will say they limit visibility a lot though, so that could play a factor.

Glad to see you back to doing what u do best colt!! This and driving the rock crawlers!! This Barnes kit I’ve had for a year now cus I don’t have the powerful welder or a set of torches yet …. And being on full disability it’s been hard to save up to buy one .:(. Since u are right just 2 hours away from me now - do u do any side jobs by chance!!!!????? I need the Barnes hydro steer assist kit , and the locker for my front Dana 44 in my xj .. I need them installed along with my prc hydro assist kit … I’ve seen u do many many of these on all ur crawlers , this is just a 99 xj with a 8” lift from cav fab , on 35s micky Thompson mtr tires on mt beadlocks . Has slip yolk eliminated, has extended brake lines , and most rest is stock.. I need to get my Dana 44 fixed up and ready to install in place of my Dana 30 …. I don’t know a shop out here I trust or can afford so hence why I’m asking you for ur help .. give me a quick quote and I’ll see if I can swing it !!!
