They do!!! Dividing by Zero, Army of One, The Noose, Trust in You, Turning into You and many other. The CD's after Americana are at the same level. If you don't listen to the songs they would played in Radio and if you listen to the other songs, then you know, Offspring is still the best band in the world
@@muppelgongu5042 not a single one of those songs you mention can hold a candle to this song...and also far from the best band in the world.. you can enjoy stuff without exagerating you know.
This song ... means so much to me. It's helped me through so much tough times .. It just basically speaks to me ... That's how any one should act ... Do what you want ... whenever you want it .. To hell with what others think as long as you're having fun ... This is the only time you'll begin to feel alive .. Thanks so much for uploading this song ... The best song ever made :)
Smash is my favorite punk-rock album ever, and this is the one of the best songs of all times as for me, always motivates me to live my way, enjoy life not depending on anything, and just feel alive. Actually in the original version of this song that lasts for 10 minutes in this album, you can hear 2 mini bonus tracks after this, especially cool from 9:00, in my opinion, if you suddenly didn’t know)
That's the most real honest thing I've read in a comments section. People always hate when band grow and change but the reality is people grow and change :p
yeah they get kids and bills to pay. but the most honest thing is they sign a 3-record contract, and sometimes the unity/passion in the band is gone by the 3rd album since it's been 10 years. if you haven't been in a band (yet) then you wouldn't know.
@@nyahhbinghi I'm not sure the Offspring are worried about the whole "bills to pay and mouths to feed" thing, though. Only Dexter has a kid who's an adult now, and they're all multi-millionaires anyway.
Yeah, sorry, but they sold out They went from Smash(still the biggest selling independent label album by a long way) and Ixnay to more "radio friendly" music straight afterwards...if that's not selling out, then what is?
@@TheNZMuppet They were older and probably found more pop orientated songs enjoyable to listen to than their earlier punkrock work. I myself stopped playing punk in my youth and play a lot more classic pop like Bowie and find a well rounded song more enjoyable than something with one dimension.
I love the offspring... that being said... this album is unlike ANYTHING else they've ever done in my opinion.... still hands down my favorite of all time
It was an indie album. I believe it still holds the record for the highest selling indie album of all time. This is what got them signed to Columbia, and it all went downhill from there
This is the album they made their selves without being told what to do by the big music industry jews. It happens to all bands usually, there are some outliers though. Seeing the dark side of the music industry is why A LOT of amazing artists with big hearts die before they're 30.
Head over heals I've fit in before Now I don't wanna do it no more I've held it all in with blood on my face Built it up man so bad you can taste I don't slag no one I don't even judge Don't give a shit 'cause I'm not gonna budge I just want to be who I want to be Guess that's hard for others to see I'm not a trendy asshole I Do what I want I Do what I feel like I'm not a trendy asshole Don't give a fuck If it's good enough for you Cause I am alive Smash is the way you feel all alone Like an outcast you're out on your own Smash is the way you deal with your life Like an outcast you're smashing your strife Head over heels I've fit in before Now I don't want to do it no more I just want to be who I want to be Guess that's hard for others to see
The offspring still has terrific albums and songs after Smash imo, but they definetly never got that punk again. Their first three albums have a raw sound, speed and aggression we have only seen again on occasion, like Da Hui from Splinter to take an example.
Thanks from my heart.. Smash is my today's feeling.. it is a shitty thing to see your son bullies his younger sister :( sometimes kids are so bad, they hurt each other with words and deeds :(
Wrong here too, bands should never "pack it in" just because some of their fans don't like their music anymore. Metallica changed when Black Album came out, and even more so with Load, but it was their choice to experiment and make the kind of music they want to make.
Dancing hard to this one! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ head over heels, i've been here before now i don't wanna do it no more i just wanna be who i wanna be guess it's hard for others to see
I've heard this song for years, and could never figure out what it was about, as the line "I'm not a tranny, asshole" didn't seem to fit. I heard it again today, and looked up the words, thinking, "is he really saying that?" -- turns out the line is "I'm not a trendy asshole." Makes much more sense now!
this was my first casette. Fuck , cover was only copy and it was so crappy. But you know what? It was played tousand times through my window. I was a kid , and my parents was so angry that I am listening to it. And I was listening again and again. Now i found it at RU-vid and believe me i cried myself. Fuck , this punk rock ,this is fuel , this is energy. This is music. THIS IS OFFSPRING "Smash is the way you feel all alone, like an outcast you're out on your own"
@HisShadowONE ??? are you serious? smash - the album AND the song are fuckin classics. this is awesome and DEFINITELY not a sellout. this is their early days man!
Offspring did not become a bunch of trendy assholes. As times goes by, and you grow older, you change. And thats what they did. You cannot just repeat the same songs over and over again. You will grow tired of it. The same way you have changed your taste of music in the last 8 years, they have changed too. Everyone does. It is natural.

No. Smash is perhaps their best album overall, but it's definitely not their last "good" album. Ixnay was fantastic, Americana was great, then when Conspiracy came out, their albums began to lag a little...not to say they aren't good, just not nearly as good as their 90's material.
