Hi Simon!!! Awesome metal update (jealous metalhead here, lol.....) so many cool and killer records and bands too. I remember Satan from backin the day, but never listen to them upto a couple of years ago and what a great NWOBHM band they still, i really need to get the rest of their catalogue. Cyclone!!! i discover them watching the Keep it True Festival (2023), had no idea Target is also from Belgium, they're "new" to me, another one to check out. Heathen surprise, surprise never heard of them back in the day, added to the listening list too. cheers and be well

That Hallows Eve rules but Death & Insanity is easily me favorite and of that style of 80s USA metal one of my favorites period.

Nice finds Simon. I've been looking for that Atrophy album for years. Love that Whiplash album. Love Hallows Eve. They are like a bunch of punks who decided they wanted to play speed metal. Ive got an OG copy of Caught in the Act, its a classic from Satan. The vocals are insane. If you like Satan, grab the debut albums from Blitzkreig, Holocaust, Wolf & Savage . All are classics. Great video. 🤘 from Qld.

That Heathen album is the goods. I first heard the track prisoners of fate on a local community radio station upon its release. It wasn't until buying albums online was in its infancy that I managed to secure a copy because here in Adelaide that stuff is kinda hard to find. Definitely glad to have it in my collection. Awesome content here. Keep up the good work!

I never thought about Atrophy sounding anything like 90s Sodom but hey, you´re actually right, hahaha... Whiplash´s comeback "Thrashback" is a pretty cool album but you can´t beat the first two. Drummer Joe played parts of Slayer´s "Reign In Blood" tour when Lombardo was out for the first time. "The Burning Of Atlanta" is an old demo track, that´s probably why it sound a bit different. The Cyclone record never had an inner, their second album is killer as well. I love the band so much, I have a bootleg shirt with the artwork and an official one with just the logo bought at a show in 2022.
@ExplosiveAction
@ExplosiveAction 4 месяца назад
Thanks for clarifying about the Cyclone inner situation! Good to know I'm not missing anything there. I'd love to grab the second one but my chances are quite slim I think.

Thanks for showcasing Target and Cyclone (both in one video, no less). Two of Belgium's finest thrash metal bands ever (or, so far, at least). That 1st Target album totally hooked me during my early teens, with its proficient thrash/speed catchiness. The 2nd one blew my mind shortly after, such a surprise, with its impressive technical progression (and the lyrical content, as a concept album). Cyclone first hit me with their sophomore album Inferior To None. Due to that, I may still prefer it to this day over their debut. But also because it's technically a better album, there's more complexity to the song writing (which, admittedly, may also demand more efforts from the listener), it's more bay area styled thrash oriented, and it's an absolute killer riff fest from start to finish (some may argue there's too many riffs on this album, haha). But I've grown to love their Brutal Destruction debut a lot too over the years. It's raw energy, hooks and punches. It definitely broke new ground at the time of its release, setting a mark in the Belgian metal scene, infusing previous NWOBHM influences with furious speed/thrash power. Cyclone's been knocking 'em dead again, by the way. They reformed a few years ago, solid live shows, they just finished a European Tour and did some shows in Japan. And, you might get to hear some new material during their live gigs as well. To wrap up this comment, since your list also features albums by Whiplash and Xentrix: both great (!) sophomore albums (same goes for their debut albums). And Hallows Eve, great you got their debut! Unfiltered rawness, unifying a mix of genres under an emerging thrash umbrella, with a clear love for horror themed subject matter. Makes sense when you say it can appeal to diverse audiences. Aside from the punky speed metal vibe it has, which I'd also attribute to this sort of underground-like production sound, I would add that some guitar parts actually echo some melodics akin to very early Iron Maiden licks. I've always liked their follow-up Death and Insanity a lot too.
@ExplosiveAction
@ExplosiveAction 4 месяца назад
Thanks for the comment man! Yeah the sophomore Target really is such a step up, I was blown away at the progression

@@ExplosiveAction - I figured so :) But you sure got my attention with that title switch there: Violent Restitution was the first Razor album I ever bought (and my first introduction to the band at the time as well). For the longest time (ever since it came out) I only had Atrophy's Violent By Nature on cassette (taped the vinyl from a buddy). Gradually grown to love the band a bit more too. Only a few years ago I stumbled upon an original Road Racer copy of it (in a record shop). Happily picked it up, gave it a new home (and more than a few spins already since then).
