Gg. Thank you for these streams. Anything you want yourself to play and stream next would be cool. Anything original by Looking Glass would be great. Or some great Strategy or RPG from the 80s, 90s or even early 2000s (Arcanum, for example). Old habits die hard. With respect, TNEG.
I feel like the Magpulse isn't an endgame weapon, even with the upgrade mod -- you can find it down the hallway from where you start the game. It's good up to the floaty Sec-1 bots, and the final fight does throw a bunch of low level goons in the mix, but the big bads should be getting the grenade launcher, Skorpion or assault rifle. Plasma rifle is okay, but only when camping the power station in my opinion.
It's been a long time since I played the original, but my vague recollection is that the game threw so much ammunition at the player that by the endgame I was just using the Skorpion and laser rapier all the time. In the remake, the damage over time effect of the magpulse really hurts it in boss fights and the big scrap at the end. It's still okay for corridor sweeping where you can duck behind a wall or something, but in the set piece fights you'll just get overrun while waiting for the damage to kick in. Glad to see it worked out in the end. I think Prey is the next most System Shockiest game, but my vote would be for something less fighty next time, maybe a Thief game. But I never played the newer Deus Ex games (Human Revolution or Mankind Divided), so I wouldn't be opposed to those, either.
I love how the Magpulse is implemented in the original. Giving you such a powerful weapon at the start then starving you of ammo for most of the game is an interesting idea and it's something I wish SS2 had done. I generally prefer how SS1 handled progression.
