You created a legend, its a shame the og game spooked too many people away with its interface.

The lack of "picking everything up that isn't nailed down" Did you ever play the games you made? How is that not a basic instinct? Especially after learning about the recycler :D

Never played this game until the remake and now it's a newly beloved favorite of mine. I'm on the very last section of my first ever 3/3/3/3 playthrough and it's been very challenging but a blast.

In my opinion ideal difficulty is 1 for mission and cyber, 2 for combat, whatever you like for puzzles.

I just finished this mission on Expert, and it's my favorite of the mod (so far). Bonehoard is one of my favorite Thief missions because a big spooky dungeon crawl was really unique among the different mission types in Thief 1 and 2. Its atmosphere is one of the things that makes The Dark Project feel unique since The Metal Age went in a different (but equally great) direction. This mission felt like a love letter to Bonehoard with some extra surprises thrown in for good measure. I exited the crypt near where you find the ruby, and there's a unique location over there. I found that exit before I'd completed one of the side objectives but otherwise might have missed it. I didn’t even think about backtracking to the entrance where you come in, but it's neat that's an option too.

Things get pretty interesting straight after this mission! Kinda kicks off "the main story hooks" in the next mission. Could always switch to easier difficulty to get through the missions quicker, too. No pressure! :D I'm sure you've got lots of other life to do!!

This mod is great. I instantly clocked the Silent Hill score in the background of certain spooky rooms like at 9:40 and again in the orphanage at the end of the mission.

As a lifelong diehard OG Thief Gold and Thief metal age player is there any chance of a remake like system shock has had. I imagine it has the potential to do very well if done right.

I've still only played the demo of the system shock remake. And I haven't played the original. But system shock 2 is the best game ever. Replayable again and again, and just as scary as hell every time. Atmospheric, tense and the audio production was insane! Spawned Bioshock if I'm not mistaken.

So glad this was recommend, Huge Fan of the Original System Shock and SS2 I grew up playing the original's demo as a kid and I loved the interface system, I bought SS2 a couple of times and enjoyed it that one always felt tense I don't think there was ever one room where I felt like I could relax haha, I don't think I had a lot of game stores to pick from back then so I am not sure if I ever got a chance to pick up the original full game but watched playthroughs I remember going to office furnishing stores and finding things like "Gender Wars." 😆 I can't wait to hear your thoughts about the remake. Personally I think it's a labor of love that helped me experience what the original game was going for but looking forward to your commentary! Actually I just love to hear everyone's thoughts in general... your entire team's game concept and setting was amazing and inspiring that I hoped paved the way for future creations like Deus Ex. We Appreciate You!! 🖖

I would love to hear your opinions on how video games have always been commercial endeavours but in the 90s, 00s and at least somewhat in the 10s games also seemed to me, as a gamer, much more often be works of passion or at least to contain passion. Your System Shock would be a prime example. To be the work of artists whose muses were singing to them and who were excited to share their work even though there would be red hard work and there would reasonably be compromises and even though financial success was necessary. Whereas now the majority of big games seem to my understanding to much more often be the work of corporate drones who suffer under various pressures including lack of job security. Many very impressive games are made today and many are fun to play but my sense is that they are made by people who are much more process workers than artists and that the games industry is a much colder and darker place now. If you ever read this and if you had time for even a one word answer I’d be super interested to hear “yeah more or less” or “nah man it’s not that bad”. Or just yeah or nah? Anyway, I love your work and you should be righteously proud of it!✌️

Late to the party because I’m a console peasant. Love the game so it’s very interesting to see your experience with it. You’ve probably figured this out by now but just in case, if you stand under high cameras, hold melee, then simultaneously release melee and jump you’ll leap and smash the camera.

The Black Parade does such a fantastic job at making you feel like you are a person living in this world, instead of it just being some artificial videogame level. Very much enjoy watching your series, it must be heartwarming to see the community you founded go forth and create masterpieces like this game

YOU MADE IT! There's something about the slog of this level that feels like The Lord of the Rings. Just finishing the book (after so many passages of "they kept ploddig along, putting one foot in front of the other", by the time you get to the end, IT DOES FEEL EPIC. OK, I've had a few beers, step away from the keyboard... ;)

I honestly just feel like THIEF was somehow the ULTIMATE first person game engine, the best implementation of AI and sound and building levels... and somehow that timeline was cut short... and the world wandered off if various other (slightly dumb) directions. But Thief is always there, as this kinda historical reminder of perfection... somehow lost in time. :D

Full respect to you for playing on the difficulty where you had to find all those extra objects! You did well! :D I was just playing on the level where I had to find the main objective, then get out of there, and it took me hours! Hats off to you, Marc! :D

"Universal Rewind" is an interesting idea. It is funny how much death and "trying again" is just part of the DNA of most games. But it kinda makes sense. Prince of Persia did a good job of that "No, that's not how it happened, let's step back and see how it reaaally went" approach. But yeah, there's something cool about ye olde Quick Save and Quick Load! :D Snapshots in time, and just try again if things go bad! :D I guess another question there is: What OTHER ways of playing/replaying/branching are there, that we haven't even tried yet?
@muzboz
@muzboz 4 месяца назад
I think I was a bit frustrated at times with this mission, and yet in other ways it's one of the most memorable... there's tons of different spaces, almost like every tomb or area is different, built in a slightly different times period, by a different section of the culture, like layers and layers of history (which is often how cemeteries and things work, I guess!). I enjoyed the verticality and the variety of it. And the idea of being lost in this deep dark place was very fitting to the story as well. :D
@muzboz
@muzboz 4 месяца назад
I got really lost down there! And even when I finally achieved the objective, I then had to find my way back out! And of course, I then discovered a whole ton of new areas, which was fun. Took me ages to get back out. Haha. Good fun.
