Here's a video I took of Crosby receiving his Gold medal shortly before the singing of our national anthem. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
It soooo nice to see nice people having respect for the others. Most videos of Canadas anthem have Americans arguing with Canadains. Good on you peaceful Americans
WHAT ON EARTH DID YOU PAY FOR YOUR TICKET? The roar sounds like all 34 million Canadians were in that stadium cheering!!!! I am from the states and wanted the Americans to win, but this was still the best Hockey game I have ever seen. Way to go Canada!
It warmed the heart of this American hockey fan, who rooted so hard for the US team, to see and hear the joy of Canadians on this special day! We are blessed to have you as our neighbors! Congratulations Canada---the true north, strong and free!!!!
I was watching this on TV around 11AM on a scorching hot day just north of Sydney, wearing my jersey and singing as loud as I could with tears in my eyes. I still feel my chest swell with pride watching this. You can take me out of Canada, but you can't take Canada out of me!
As an American, one of the worst days of my life, LOL. Watched this in a bar in Vancouver with a bunch of friends and bought them soooo many drinks, haha.
I remember watching this game at home wearing my canadian team jersey, and the commentator announced that something ridiculous like 90% of the country was watching that game! thats insane!!! was a good day to be a canadian, thats for sure!!!
this video is making me have serious Vancouver Olympics 2010 withdrawl, i am so grateful to be Canadian and old enough that I will remember this for the rest of my life!! =)
@CameronBischoff I can tell you how this is fair. Canada us better than the USA. If you don't believe me, then how did we get the gold in hockey, and the gold AND silver in bobsleigh? I'm sorry that Canada was better than the States in 2010, but there will be many more Olympics in the years to come. Congratulations Canada on your Gold in the past, present, and the many more to come! -3
I'm an American, broke my heart to lose, but I love my Canadian brothers! Great tournament, job well done! Awesome series, great for hockey. True Patriot love in all NORTH AMERICAS LAND!!! Canada and USA keep our lands glorious and free. Respect from Chicago!
for a fan who paid $2500 for a ticket; it was worth every penny! It was crazy when Crosby scored but when the entire coliseum is vibrating and screaming out O Canada, there's just no words to describe the feeling. And to see how the joy was continued out on the streets of Vancouver, on the skytrain, and sidewalks - smiling at and high-5'ing total strangers... its crazy to think what an effect a black rubber disk being shot into some twine could have on an entire Country... Only in Canada.
@Laughlin83 I agree. I heard crowds singing in full voice Oh Canada, God Save the Queen, La Marseillaise, God Defend New Zealand, and many more. I've yet to hear an entire American crowd bury the lone singer in a mass singing of their national anthem.
The damn fittings for the rafters at GM Place are starting to bounce around....3.5 Tremors being felt by underground sensors. building is about to uproot and dance down the street singing O'Canada.... Must've won the hockey game :)
As a Canadian living in the USA ive heard nothing but insults and slanders directed at me, my nation and my family because i am canadian. When Canada lost thier first game the abuse only grew worse i knew that if Canada did not win a second time i would (in all seriousness) commit suicide. After Canada won gold my spirit was relieved and rejuvinated and i learned right there that everything the americans said about my nation was wrong and now i am proud to be Canadian. Eh!
@klank99 did the Miracle on Ice end with the American's #1 player who was endlessly criticized for his lack of production and then scores the gold medal goal in overtime after the other team tied up the game with 28 seconds left in the 3rd period? When the gold medal goal was scored, was it on home soil? If it was Iginla who scored, it would have been cool. But the fact that it was Crosby is what puts this over the top. Kinda like if Gretzky scored.
we played Vancouver enough of late even some of the younger fans know the words. If you ever come to Chicago get tickets 300 sec or standing room the whole building moves up there during the anthem.Lower ice level it is so loud you can not here anything but a roar.22,000 people is alot of noise.Go Hawks God Bless Usa and God Bless Canada "glorious and free."
The entire purpose of the Olympic games is to encourage international cooperation, while also supporting competition. Shame to the Canadians cocky comments, and shame to the ridiculous American retorts. I'm a proud American, one who believes in "equality." With that said, congratulations to the Canadian hockey team! They won fair and square.
@squiggga OK first of all almost every 1st world country has spent money on Afghanistan even the little central american country i used to live in called el Salvador has spent almost 2 billion dollars to help Afghanistan. oh and last time i check when it comes to government 18billion like a quarter in a beggars cup. almost nothing.
@streetcarjay Just for the record, I Am Canadian, but you gotta admit, the Americans made us almost "crap" our pants! That Parise!!! I almost forgot the star-studded cast we had for a moment! THAT game WAS awesome! That's one of those games, where, it's a shame for one team to lose. But, since it was CANADA, WHOO hoo!
@thm149 I think I was a little unfair there in my previous comment now that I think about it many Americans are friendly, kind, open minded and simply just great people. They can be a little ignorant or arrogant at times but who isn't. I am glad a good nation like the USA is the world's most powerful nation. Canada is still better at hockey though.
naw. I gotta say this trumps that. Miracle was still great, but i mean beating the russians in a semi final, it was bound to happen eventually. Every great team can be beating, i mean hell the usa beat canada in round robin and only lost in OT in the final. Canada won and that makes me so proud, but the US should still be very proud of their team. Great Game! Go Canada!
I hope you enjoy your time in Chicago it is a fun place. Our hope is Big Hoss(as Hossa is called here) will be 100%. The Cell where the Sox play is a nice place just do not wander to far away.Public Transportation to and from the field is good.Best Wishes to you
And to the people making dumb comment's just chill, Canada & the US are both great places i go to north dakota every year to shop, and i like it it looks just like canada except cleaner...mainly from all the mexican's..BUT that's not the point there both great places.
@neodark414 Why do you have to show pride in your country, by calling Canadians "stupid"? At least the Canadian hockey team had respect for their opponents, as your team did for our players. If you don't have respect for your opponent, and THEN lose? That MUST be the worst, eh?
Boo Daniel? Roster envy.Since I am a Sox fan I am not sure what is close by Wrigley.Wrigley might have a website or the White Castle to show you.If the NHL goes to the next Olympics the Canadian roster will have some intresting changes. Have fun in Chicago.
It is kind of disgusting the losing attitude that the Americans in the crowd showed as they began playing our national anthem if you listen you can hear the Americans cheering USA throwout the song. They disgraced the US in that way.
sasprawler. You are welcome. But I am a women.First hockey game 1959.Red Wings Hawks I was 7.Hockey is the best sport.Remember the Hawks sucked a lot longer than the Flames..Hope is the only thing you have.do not lose it.
@jsa4ever92 The odds of our two country's meeting in the GOLD medal match are pretty slim! There are a LOT of good hockey nations, out there, but that being said, .....BRING IT ON! Wouldn't it be cool?
@legomyemail they have the freedom to do what they want. what are you communist or something? they were simply showing that they were proud of their country even though they lost.
You will Love Chicago.Just make sure fore your saftey wear a Hawk or Bulls hat when going to game to go along with what ever team your cheering for.HAVE FUN.
Agreed, i remember that day i got so scared when the US tied it, but when canada won needless to say i was exstatic, Just another reason to be proud of being canadian.
