Here's my edited version of Robin's tremendous cover of the Beatles' classic, "Oh! Darling". These clips came from the film, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
You don’t know what you’re talking about, they made a movie called sgt pepper and Frampton was included, Frampton is a member Humble Pie not the BeeGees you are full of garbage

Peter Frampton didn’t get recognized as much as he should. He wrote more songs than he got credit for & IMO had Talenet bordering on Genius (not to mention the cutest Butt in 3 countries)!!!✌️
@@blossom1643 - I was never interested in his derriere, but he had unrecognized talent and songwriting , for sure! I have Framptom Comes Alive 33 1/3 album in vinyl , in good condition - a very colorful cover, ot say the least!

Sgt Peppers movie. Wicked camp. Everyone under the sun in it. Silly story line based on Sgt Pepper album & it was panned, but I just saw it & loved it- not the story, but the BeeGees & in fact everyone did a great job. I'm a lifelong Beatles fan, but Robin, Mo, & Barry sang their songs better😱

I feel exactly the same way. Usually, cover versions just don't cut it for me, but I love Robin's soulful version more than the original. In my opinion, a cover only catches my full attention if the artist takes a different approach on it. Robin did exactly that, and his magical voice is breathtaking!
Beautiful BeeGees. I love Robin singing this, but really he could sing anything. The BeeGees did great cover versions of the Beatles on Midnight Special. Keep singing Sir Barry Gibb, keep the flame burning.
This is true, Robin could definetely sing any song he chooses. ❤️❤️❤️The Bee Gees' performing the Beatles medley on The Midnight Special is incredible! I'm usually picky when it comes to covers, but only the Bee Gees can make a cover version of any song, and I'd love it more than the original.

The movie is basically some music videos ranging from good to great, embedded in a very silly plot. But the whole movie is worth it just for this song. Robin, we all still miss you.
The movie is worthwhile for “Got to get you into my life”. The Beatles version was their attempt to record a song like Earth, Wind, and Fire. In the movie Earth, Wind, and Fire covers the song the Beatles wrote for them.

Thank you! I've always loved the Bee Gees too (my heartthrob is Robin)! I grew up listening to their music, and Frampton's as well. I recommend hearing some songs he wrote as a member of Humble Pie and as a solo artist. Examples I can come up with are, Buttermilk Boy, Alabama '69, Show Me The Way, I'm In You, etc.

Without a doubt the highlight of this film which did not have very many. The only other one I can think of was the black, three-piece suit Robin wore for the funeral of whatever the heroine's name was. Strawberry Fields, I think? It was a modest hit stateside, I don't know about elsewhere.
That's right, the girl's name is Strawberry Fields. The Bee Gees were singing "Carry That Weight" during the funeral, and Barry was singing "A Day In The Life" afterwards. Another beautiful cover of course!
Knowing how good The Beatles played and sang this song, with McCartney’s banging vocals and the hard instrumentation, I couldn’t imagine that the BeeGees could do anything with the song that would be entertaining, but they did. Very soulful. The Beatles wrote this and were the original artist. I still like their version better, but this is excellent as well!
Wasn’t this from their Sargent Pepper film? I remember seeing it in the theater. It was interesting hearing The Bee Gees do so many Beatles songs. Aerosmith was in the film too. I still have the vinyl LP. Haven’t listened to it in years.
This is the Sgt. Pepper's film, and it's one of my favourites. I have the soundtrack on vinyl too. I've always loved hearing the Bee Gees performing Beatles' songs, especially the ones from this film.
It was a good decision to build up the song in exactly the opposite way, so it's a somewhat softened but beautiful version with a great voice. I like the Beatles' rough version a little better but it's good to have a version for everyones taste :-)
I love it when a cover sounds completely different. I enjoy both versions very much, but I must admit Robin's soulful performance is my favourite. Really appreciate what you've said about having an inverse take on the song to appeal to the audience. The other tune I recommend from the film is Earth Wind & Fire's "Got To Get You Into My Life", which is also wildly different.
It was a terrible film but it was fun to watch and a lot of the music was great. We went and saw it 7 times when it was in the theaters. I still have my vinyl copy of the film's soundtrack.
