This song will move you. It is not just a song, it is an experience. The song is about true love, friendship, and loyalty in bad and good times. It can bring you to tears. It still brings me to tears. So beautiful, and timeless.
Paul Simon the short dark haired one wrote this song for Art Garfunkle tall curly blonde to sing as a solo,Paul only joins him briefly during the 3/4 mark before backing off to let Art finish the song, one of most iconic songs of that era, nice reaction by you, glad you could appreciate this song.
Actually Paul sang more of the song than that. Art did the first verse and Paul the second. They both sang for the first half of the final verse, with Art finishing alone. Particularly in their early years they sounded enough alike that sometimes it was hard to tell them apart. But Art always had that light high voice, while Paul was the creative genius.

For a similar themed song try "He Ain't Heavy - He's My Brother" by the Hollies. It should be easy to find on You Tube - another great song! Cheers from Australia, DSW.
Love your reaction to this incredible song!!!! Can you imagine what the world would be like if we all did this? It seems to be the essence of religion, but unfortunately what we fail to live up too.
It was just happenstance that two childhood friends, one with an angelic voice and the other a great songwriter, got together for this musical masterpiece.
And it was just the opener of this all-time masterpiece of an album, like an open-heart surgery that left the heart open afterwards, for all the other incredible musical joys to come tumbling in.
Hey Mira, beautiful reaction. Would you do a comparison to Elvis version of bridge over troubled water from his 1970 performance in Vegas live. I promise you will love it and I would love your opinion
