They have put a lot of effort into the personality of each the gods, and with nector system, its almost like a dating sim. Not so suprised the internet blew up over this game.
They even take care to represent those personalities true to reputation! ... as in, Zeus is an ass and Poseidon is way too much of a cool uncle until you see he's being WAY TOO MUCH of a cool uncle.

I love how many of this game's character designs look like that cool iteration you'd see in an artbook but had to be toned down in the actual game for practicality/readability/relatability/whatever purposes. Chaos, Poseidon, Eurydice and Orpheus' designs (the latter of which I'm pretty sure is referencing how a certain comic book I love depicted his ancestrality) are particular favorites of mine.
That is a really meticulous game design, SG have such a passionate team. If that means that we can have more gods instead of skins for Zagreus I am all in on that.
@@2BSkyen From what I remember of their previous games, they model the characters in 3D and then create the 2D sprites that are used in the game from the models.
They are 3d. Theres a making of documentary called developing hell and you can see zagreus and other characters are modeled. I imagine the 1500 images for the bow are all the different attack animations since it changes depending on what boons u have. (really reccomend the documentary if u like behind the scenes stuff!)
the dash deflect of athena is an "always take" for me... its just soo good to escape shitty situations, it really hurts me to see him taking other things of athena instead xD

Important to note that with the whole back gods thing another argument there is that the greeks didn't really think of the gods as gods of greece, they knew them as gods of the world that greeks happened to believe in, and in some cases saw other religions pantheons as mutations of the same gods

I love the way you talk about the game in the commentary, from the mythology of the Greeks and its interpretation to the art style of the game itself. As an artist, it certainly fascinates me when speaking of the choices they made in the art style. It's quite wonderful, I hope these conversations continue throughout the playthrough.
Anyone else notice that Achilles talks about Ares the way someone might talk about an ex boyfriend? Lmao he’s so bitter “I have nothing good to say about this man he’s terrible” And then whenever we see Ares he’s like “you’re doing so great!!!! Keep going! I believe in you! I’m so proud of you!!!”
17:32 I love how Skelly has a golden Drachma on his tongue. The dead were buried with one so Charon would ferry them over the River Styx, to the underworld. But it's also a subtle symbol for a 'golden' (instead of silver) tongue; you can't trust him.
I am so happy that you are playing Hades again, and really look forward to you talking about all the wonderful design choices of this game! I actually brought Hades when it was still in early access because of your first video about it and have since spent almost 300 hours playing it.
i love the parts where you pause to talk abt the history/myth/art, its like i get to watch gameplay but also get to learn a bit of the choices the devs make

I’m super excited to see how you react to the later areas and encounter some of the other characters (will reframe from naming to avoid spoilers) as well as just interacting with the gods themselves cause each one feels unique and different from one another.
I’m a huge fan of mythologies and hearing someone else geeking out over greek stuff made my day. You’ve earned yourself a sub bud (also I had to look up who Frank Miller was XD)
The story of this game seems to be very interesting in the time I've been playing it, I really hope you continue this series cause I wanna see what you get from the story

I'm writing this at the first intro of ares when he talks about hell and I don't know if you talk about this later but that's why I love the inclusion of Elysium (Hopefully that's the right one 😅) Because it shows a part of the Underworld that Hades presides over that we don't see often and it's such a lovely place
On the comment about Hades and the Western interpretation of Hell. I'm no mythology expert, but I *think* I recall the whole idea of the way god Hades is kind of vilified by the gods of Olympus, and also having drawn the short straw to watch over the underworld as well. If I had to do a super boring job and tick names off a list for all eternity, all by my lonesome I'd probably start to think I was in Hell. LOL Edit: It's not quite Hell, I don't think it's portrayed that way, but it would be interesting I think that the Gods themselves see it as a dreary place with a dreary job that no one wants to HAVE to do.
I knew there was something not right about Ares and Athena when I first played... Now that you pointed it out that they're black I guess that was it. It's something im not used to but I guess it fits them. Especially Ares. I really like how he looks there.

Aphrodite jumped out as Physically attractive to me in the beta. They are ALL attractive of course but Aphrodite was the one who struck me that way immediately. Makes sense. On a side note I find Artemis's mannerisms ADORABLE.
Honestly same. I point to my own asexuality. But I'm glad that the attractiveness of its characters has led to a lot more people experiencing this game when they otherwise wouldn't have.

I think that we think of all the Greek gods as being white because most of their statues are made of marble, which is a predominantly white rock. But Greek people have a Mediterranean skin tone. One of my best friends from when I was a kid is the son of a Greek immigrant and he has very tan skin. It's not just that they sailed around the entire Mediterranean and knew about Northern Africans with deep black skin tones, they still to this day have darker skin tones themselves than northern Europeans.
