Anyone with a brain would NEVER put the baby before themselves near a horse that you KNOW might bite! It's terrifying to see a baby bitten like that. Maybe the sign needs to say to keep children further back and guards yell to GET BACK!
The Guards do yell back, they even move their horses out of the way, and when the horse (or themselves) have had enough they back all the way into the sentry box It seems that the only way they will notice the warning signs is if they are on a 6 foot neon flashing billboard. I'm sorry when kids get bitten, but it's neither the horses nor the Guards' fault, it's the stupid parents. The inside Guards are roped off to stop the irritating tourists. What protection do the horses have? and they didn't even volunteer for the job. It should be illegal.
Wasn't the horses fault, they are just curious and taste and bite things. They need a barrier around the area to keep the people at a respectful distance. They don't need to be touching and standing near the horses. Not a fence but a painted area not to cross into to keep the people at a safe distance from the horses.
The Guard showed kindness and concern for the child. He was visibly upset that the child was traumatized. It's a reminder that Guards are human. They're working. Don't put them or their horses in danger by inattention and poor judgment.
No he did not show kindness. He saw that the horse was going towards the child and he could have gently tugged the reins over. I've seen thoughtful guards doing that. This one was covering his 'arse' and furthermore, I've seen him allow that several times! I believe he has a mean streak about dealing with people.
The father was stood right next to the sign on the wall clearly stating that the horses can bite and kick, and to not grab the reigns. It is neither the Guards', nor the horse's fault that the father was either illiterate, or too stupid and ignored it. I am always appalled at how many people a. bother the horse, and b. put their kids in harms way. "come see the horsey sweetheart, and daddy will take a picture of it biting you." If you had to stand there for an hour with people putting their hands all over you and their fingers up your nose, you would bite too! The Guards apply for the job, the horses don't. The guards in the forecourt are behind chains to stop the visitors doing stupid things. What do the horses have to protect them from the ignorant public?
Couldn’t agree with you more! People are behaving towards the guardsmen and their horses as though they’re in a Disney land theme park! The lack of respect is absolutely disgusting… This is the backbone of British tradition and culture; it MUST BE RESPECTED and that respect starts with our political leaders , or police force and our educational institutions. If they don’t insist upon respect of the social and cultural values of British heritage..certainly none of the masses of foreigners pouring illegally and legally into the Commonwealth countries never will..
This is my take. I'm from the US. I'm a veteran of 23 years in the Army. This is a military facility. These guards and horses are on duty. The fact that they allow the public to step up and take pictures is a privilege not a right. I imagine the guards superiors could shut the whole thing down in a blink of an eye. Our guards at our military bases who check IDs to go through the gates are the same. To approach them, you must ask permission. You never just walk up to them and do whatever. They are armed with a loaded weapon and has the right to pull it out and use it if at anytime they feel threatened. And they will use it if someone doesn't obey their commands. The fact that they allow the public limited access is to build positive relations with the taxpayers who pay their salaries. But that doesn't mean the public can waltz up and do whatever. National security and safety take absolute precedence over the whims of the public. We do not have a monarchy in the US. But Britain chooses to. Then, the public must understand what their tax money is paying for. And behave appropriately. Tourists and visitors must understand that they are guests. There are limits to their access. But what I have seen in these videos makes me sick. My heart goes out to the horses and guards.
I honestly dont think the horse was being malicious: for all we know, the horse thought the child's foot was either a toy or food. I agree with the other comments regarding the irresponsible parent putting that child in danger of being bitten. Read the sign and take what it says seriously people! SMH
We had a horse that would bite that hated every body but my son. He loved that boy. But I knew to never be out in the pasture if he was there. A horse can hurt you! We had one who was at least 16 hands tall that liked to twang the electric fence (when it was off) with his mouth. It was the funniest thing. He did funny things and we laughed at him a lot. He liked ice cream. He seemed to like the cold on his lips then he’d put his head back and stick his lips out. He loved my cat and would nuzzle her when she’d get up on the fence. My point is horses have personalities like people. Unpredictable.
it's the parents fault. He's stood right next to the sign warning him that the horses can bite and kick, so who's fault is it? Not the horses or the Guards.
@@wendypetersen7529 I realize that. I'm just saying the Guard looked upset. When they are on horses they know bite, they invariably try to keep the horse's head away from small children. They are very aware that some parents are irresponsible. I don't think this horse normally bites, and it caught him by surprise.
@charlottecunningham2141 While that's true, Charlotte, there are plenty of translation apps available. If the parent saw a sign one would think that they would try and find out what it said before they approached the trooper and his horse with a small child 😢
When will the parents realise that they must care for their children better , the sings say that the horses may bite . Sorry that the child got hurt but it’s the parents fault .
Funny thing is, the horse bit the dad’s vest first, then bit the child. Dad should have paid more attention and backed away. But no, he just stood there ignoring the danger for his child.
That Dad is awful. Mom isn't much better. Since this is Blues & Royals what would have happened if that was Ormonde? I bet around half of their horses except the real big ones will nip if they are pushed by stupid tourist before you get there.
The Guards sign on for the job. The horses have no say in the matter. They have to stand still in that box for an hour at a time while people stick their fingers in it's mouth and up it's nose, and pat him all over. No wonder the horses sometimes bite, how else can they say leave me the hell alone? or they point blank refuse to go into the sentry box at all. What a miserable job for a horse.
How many of us complain about parents placing toddlers and babies next to a massive horse’s head! Makes you wonder if those children even stand a chance in life with those kinds of parents as role models. 🔥 😡 🔥 But those parents are the last to accept blame, I’m sure. Lordy.
Often the horses will swing their heads round or side to side, and if a child was too near and got hit by the horse's head, it could get really hurt. The horse is not doing it on purpose to damage anyone, it is just what horses do.
I agree that parents are sometimes stupid with their kids around horses. I have another gripe which is the way they hold their hands to the horses mouth to sniff like you would do a dog!! STUPID! What to do they think his mouth is for?? To eat!! Your hand, leg, arm, clothing is no different than a juicy steak. When they grab the reins is that what they do when riding in a car with someone driving?? It steers the car just as reins do for horses. I'm sorry the kid got bitten but her Daddy is the one who needs his ass kicked.
They warn and warn but these idiot parents don't believe what they read or hear. To take the child and place its body near the horses mouth is crazy. No big deal to mom she is laughing. Based on the stupid behaviors of the Tourists there will be more to come.
people seem to have lost all commonsense and have some idea that they are entitled to do whatever they want without consequences. Life doesn't work that way. For every action there is a reaction. - Einstein's Theory of Relativity.
It just happens. Like sharks mistakenly humans for seals. It is parent's responsibility for their own children's safety. The guard was concerned and hit the button, but it seems they were gone when the soldier stopped by to make sure a child is alright.
@@user-dm1pt4ru6e the comparison of a shark mistaking a human for a seal and a horse mistaking a hand, (that has been shoved in it's face), that may have food in it (unfortunately in this instance it was a baby's leg) is typical animal and fish behaviour. When are people going to wake up to the fact that these beautiful horses are animals and have natural animal instincts 🐎😳
@@maevephipson2803 I think that people feel that a horse will recognize a child as something they need to take care of. People attribute human thoughts and feelings to animals then they are shocked when an animal bites, kicks, or otherwise hurts a person. We’ve seen parents force kids to go up close and we can see they don’t want to and they’re afraid of them. It’s like cruel and dangerous in my opinion . Blows my mind.
Comparto... Saludos.. 🙋♀️🇺🇾
Children’s skin is softer and more sensitive than most adults, so it probably hurt more than it would have an adult… but still, you put your child almost on the horse for crying out loud…
Hello from Spain, why don't people learn by other people's mistakes. There's clear signs, the thing that got me,was the way the woman/mother started laughing, what is wrong with these parents.
I've always wondered that myself. The Guard would be lying dead on the ground if a terrorist threatened them. The police may take care of him, but it wouldn't help the deceased Guard.
They do respond. Please go back and watch again. One guard and then trooper showed up. Idiot dad and child went walking the other way, possibly to the other horse.
Not happy about these guy's out there if I am honest - Easy targets and the Armed Police are not always close by them - Times are changing and we need a complete overhaul of our security
why oh why don't they just stop the horses being touched! People used to take photos of an object with themselves in it, now it is the person who is the main subject and the horses are just used as an object
Nb. So many foreign visitors they ouught to have it written in another couple of languages at least I’d have thought…not everyone takes notice of those signs.
@@patriciapirozzi9957Because that's been the policy since 1993, to attract tourists and justify HCMR after Options for Change and the union / redundancies.
The horse heard the child's scream and looked at him strangely. After that, the horse stopped biting anyone. The horse's expression was one of remorse, and it was precious to see it.
People walk up to a big powerful horse, and assume he's like a big friendly cuddly toy. Even Trained horses, can be Unpredictable. If you can't read the Sign, that's ok, but always ask Soldier, before you want to touch the horses. 🇬🇧🙄🐎
"Always ask soldier"? Seriously? Count how many touch the horse every minute - at least three or four, often as many as ten. Say five hundred times an hour. Try thinking it through.
I was just going to say people need to ask permission to approach the horse, then ask permission to touch the horse. That renders proper respect to the guard, his mount, and their personal work space. The horse tends to sense the calmness of this and doesn't seem to react negatively in response.
@@John-Gthat why the horses react so negatively. They get stressed out. The cops standing out there, could put a stop to that and direct the tourists to ask permission before hand to approach. Otherwise the crowd can be ordered to stay behind the chain at the edge of the sidewalk and take their pictures from there. That just walking up to the horses has gotten ridiculously out of hand.
@@susangarman9561 No, the police couldn't "put a stop to that" as it's not their job and outside MoD property the MoD Police only have limited powers. There is no "chain at the edge of the sidewalk". All there is at the kerb is the road. You're saying they should "take their pictures from there". I'd say unvelievable, but after some of your comments I'm not that surprised.
IMO the parent (father?) should be charged with neglect as he clearly carried that young child up to the horse in spite of the warning signs. By that, I don't mean just the physical signs. The horse was just a horse and was - as is obvious - grumpy from all the "hand-on" behaviors of the crowd. Hands reaching for some part of the horse, its face or neck. I've been afraid some small child will be bitten upon watching my 1st videos of how these tourists act. Hopefully she was not hurt badly, but he really has no one to blame other than himself.
It's amazing how many parents approach the horses with their child between them and the horses like they're using them for a shield. What do they think the giant horses teeth feel like? A teddy bear? Idiots. Too bad they don't get bitten instead of the innocent baby. 😡
I had an argument with another user aboud the danger of letting peole get so close. She accused me of being afraid of everything and that it as perfectly safe to be around the horses. That's what they're there for, dontcha know. If someone can watch a tiny child being bitten by one these huge animals and still think it's safe, they'e too damn naive to live.
I don't blame the horses for biting or kicking people. Everyday they are petted and drove nuts to relentless people wanting to pet them and more. Its only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt.
These horses are fed up of stupid tourists touching and getting near them every single day for hours on end. I feel bad for her, but the horse is just as innocent as the kid.
The horse may not have bitten the little girl that hard. May have just scared her. They didn stay around to talk to anyone about the horse bitting the little girl. Hope she is ok😊
The horses are adorable, and I would also love to have a picture with the guard and the horse, BUT there is a sign warning of the danger. For respect of the guard and the horse who are not there as decorative items, but working I should not get too close to them.
Why, why people are so Careless, they take such a risk, putting the child and also the horse in danger. The Palace guard should put some HUGE BOARD, on either side.
The guard has the ability to keep the horse away from a child! He has the responsibility to do so when a parent puts the child in a position it didn't choose to be in!
I was always afraid that would unfortunately happen to a child. I always cringe when parents bring their young children close to the horses. I hope the little girl is okay. It’s not her fault, but it is her father’s fault. Nice to see the horse guard’s concern.
Awe..look! People are excited and happy to see the guards and their horses...ok they should be careful but really they are just so interested and happy not stupid!!!
Always put yourself in between an animal and your child! Especially with a horse that is clearly displaying its frustration, a horse you don’t know , and there are signs EVERYWHERE warning you that the horses may bite or kick! Some people are so absolutely clueless and thoughtless! These same people would allow their children to run through the parking lot at Tescos or run down the High Street well ahead of them!
The child was fine - not bitten, not hurt, just spooked. The mother, despite the criticism here, did exactly the right thing by laughing it off as she could see her child hadn't been hurt. "Cuddling" fear when it's not justified just encourages it, whether in a child or a dog, and you end up with children (and dogs) scared of their own shadow, terrified of going to the doctor or the dentist (or the vet). I'm not suggesting we should all be raising adrenalin junkies, but you can live life or just watch it on RU-vid. Whether the father was wrong or not is debatable depending on if he'd watched how the horse behaved with others beforehand, which we simply don't know as it's not in the video. For all we know he may well have been watching carefully for a few minutes and made a balanced and informed decision - he certainly wasn't shocked or spooked when the horse nuzzled him and his child, which suggests he wasn't surprised at all. You can live life and take the odd, calculated risk or you can just sit on the sofa and watch it on RU-vid.
You can tell the Guard felt bad and the poor baby! You can tell the Guard try to keep the horses calm and pay extra attention when they are surrounded by kids, but even when the kid is with an adult they can't relax.
I think a parent needs to be closer to the horse. Check things out first and then let the child decide if they want to pet the horse. Caution for the little ones, tetanus hurts!!
The IDIOCY is unbelievable! Why would any parent deliberately put their child in harms way like that?! 😡 Another reason to not allow the public near the horses & guards!
Merveilleux chevaux !!! ❤
How stupid do you have to be to hold a baby in front of the face of a strange horse, even though the signs warn that the horses can bite and kick. It's not the horse's fault, nor is the Kingsguard's fault. The blame lies with whoever is holding the baby
I think that was a shock scream rather than a sign that the toddler had been bitten. She just got a nudge or maybe got caught up in the nibble the dad’s vest was getting. But why stick your child so close to a horse’s mouth in the first place. They stand right next to a warning sign but think it’s there for everybody else but not them. I refuse to accept that foreign visitors can’t understand a word of English otherwise how would they negotiate their visit at all. They must use the tube or taxis - unless they all stay in The Raffles Hotel across the road or one of the other 5* Hotels in Trafalgar Square. How long did those parents stand and watch how the horse was dealing with others who invaded its space before they thought risking their child was a good idea.
