It’s interesting how everybody becomes an expert about horses when they suspect something is wrong. These gentlemen and women of the king’s Guard know what they are doing after centuries of knowledge being passed down. I’d be inclined to leave it up to them rather than speculate about what could be wrong. It may be that the horse is just having an off day or is very young.
Yes exactly the tourist who kept trying to approach was not helping she was the last thing that horses needed at that time! They think they have a god given right to a picture & forget these are soldiers working!! These horses are EXTREMELY well looked after & pampered! These soldiers have been doing this for 100’s of years & all that knowledge handed down during their intensive training. If that bridle is wrong the soldier will be reprimanded. The horses comfort comes first at all times.
I think they should give the guards hobby horses, save tye tax payer a great deal of money in some country's they make hobbyhorse jump events, perhaps this could be done at changeover 😂
Exactly, he could just have a gassy stomach or, like someone else mentioned that jackhammer in the background could be at just the right pitch to be irritating (I know it'd irritate me!), maybe his bit isn't sitting comfortably in his mouth (he does seem to be gnawing at it awfully hard) or there may be some kind of trash wonder his saddle blanket that was missed before it was put on him! Then again, he just might not be feeling dealing with rude obnoxious tourists! 🤷😁
@@jennigee51 : The Life Guard shown here is Heavy Cavalry and the right hand (dominant hand for most people) is for using the sword proficiently in combat whilst mounted. This only leaves the left hand for everything else. The exception to this are the mounted Musicians of the Household Cavalry's mounted band who need two hands to play their (always) right-handed instruments and have to learn to control their mounts with reins fitted to the stirrups. As far as I am aware there are no Service Pattern LH swords as the bowl which protects the hand is always RH'd. It's a RH World!!
Something must be happening to the horse , don't you think so? It is not only a matter of contolling it with one hand. Maybe the horse is thursty. Why is it restless from the beginning of the video? Why do other people do not ask this question? ??????????????????
Once he/she learns playing up doesn’t get anywhere he/she will settle down. These Guards are highly trained soldiers and horse men and women, they know what they’re doing.
Eu também acho que os turistas tem que ter consciência disso. O cavalo 🐴 nem quer ir pra fora , encarar esses ignorantes que não tem um pingo de educação e nem sabem dar carinho ao cavalo 🐎
There was several people who checked in on the horse. The mounted life guard did very well. There was a road drill blasting away throughout so that might have had a bearing. If they rush a horse back inside once it plays up a little it could become a learned behaviour and more hassle down the line. I would say the mounted division of the Household Cavalry would have a few centuries of handed down experience to draw on.
It is worrying that 99% of the people who posted comments did not consider the possibility that something wrong was happening to the horse. From the beginning of the video, any mentally ill person would realize that the animal was restless, perhaps thirsty. His mouth didn't stop moving. It is customary to give these horses salt. No one tried to bring him a bucket of water anyway. This simple act could have changed the situation.
@@igalflint Don’t know how long or how much you know about equine behavior but in my experience they are like people all with their own personalities. Some are prone to biting, others don’t like to stand quietly, some will chew on their bit and others even after a long ride or day of hunting and after a cool down period will refuse water. Ormonde is absolutely a personality, he dislikes tourists to his credit.
I only came for the know it all comments, I mean, its not like they are trained military personnel with lots of experience. So let Trudy/Debbie/Patty with their small holdings tell the professionals how its done 😂😂😂
@@dianewilliams1125 🤔 I think he was scheming as to how to give her a bite, to find just the right time, and the right spot. 😂 I obviously can't say that's what he was doing, but it makes me chuckle to think so.
Not a horse whisperer, just someone who knows a calming voice can soothe an anxious horse. You notice she did not try to get too close and immediately backed off when the Guard asked her to. Her voice did seem to help calm him a bit.
The guards know their horses they wouldn't be there if there was anything wrong, visitors need to treat the horse with respect, not as if it's a prop on a photo opportunity, the speed some people approach it is shocking ,I've always been told to approach any animal calmly
@@abdullahmaddela7533I agree. I need to take his headgear off and check it along with his vet. It’s so easy to get those put together wrong and it’s probably hurting him .

All you people going on about the horse, I'm pretty sure the guy sitting on it knows more about that horse than all of you combined. You're all a bit like the tourists clueless!
I keep horses my self..that horses is in discomfort ,and I d say it’s the bit,it tossing the head pulling on the bit..plus it pawing the ground a sign the horse is stressing ..they should come and take it away or change the bit to a rubber one, that’s either a Windsor Pelham bit ,very hard on the mouth..way too much head tack on.
People have a right to comment..You are very rude to insult those who are concerned about a horse. You seem to be the clueless one.DONT TELL OTHERS HOW TO COMMENT OR REACT.THERE IS STILL A FREEDOM OF SPEECH ..They are all concerned. This horse knows it’s going to to subjected to an hour of relentless pawing and it’s not happy and it’s clearly distressed!
Wish people who no nothing about these horses keep their stupid comments to themselves. If any horse was being mistreated or distressed the guards would ask for help. The RSPCA are constantly checking that they are cared for. Most likely better than any other animals.
@@margarestifo6368. I’ve enlarged the picture and paused it several times and I can’t quite understand why at least three people went out to look but, beyond messing with the broken collar-chain (or bright-chain, whichever) failed to notice the fubar on the offside!
It’s not the “reading” if you’re not able to read English! The tour guides/parental escorts of kids need to be telling their guest about WHAT IS EXPECTED of their behavior!
It’s the rerverbation from the drilling. The horse feels the shaking from someone jackhammering nearby. The ground is shaking, that’s why the horse is so jumpy.
OMG a Horse Whisperer !!! Back off lady and let the Trooper concentrate on his Horse and NOT YOU!! standing there trying to use your Superpowers of Horse Whispering, go away and watch. And so many just stand there so close to an angry upset Horse who can bolt out at any time. Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘❤❤❤❤
The mother with her kids not moving is disgusting. Those kids could have been seriously hurt if the horse bolted. Others watching are bonkers. That lady in the green coat was she talking to the horse??
@@cindycox9361 Can you blame them?!? I'm sure that thing pinches their tongue, rubs the insides of their mouth, just all sorts of unpleasant things. I would definitely not want one in my mouth. There are better alternatives out there. Just because something has hundreds of years of tradition behind it does not mean is should still be allowed to torture animals today.
Armed cops are not horse behaviourists. They are cops with guns, I doubt the know anything about looking after the horses and I'm guessing they can't even ride a horse or have any knowledge of horse care. Soldiers and grooms yes, but not the cops.

Lol, he was fine when he realized he was going back to stables, just was determined he was not working that day. I have had 6 and they are a great pleasure!
I've been around many horses most of my young life and I believe that horse is having problems with his bit. The horse appears to be is pain in his mouth area. Shaking and bobbing his head as well as constant chewing. One hell of a rider. One hand control. The horse is destressed, however.
I've been watching these horses since the Queen passed and it is getting much worse. It won't be a matter of if but when an infant or small child gets injured. There have been some close shaves already, often when the parent thrusts their child, (once a newborn) for some kind of anointing. When the crowd scatters I've noticed the parents run first, dragging the child or pram behind them.
Champing ( the original word )at the bit, means you are impatient to do something but are prevented from doing it. It does not mean you are in pain or discomfort nor used just to refer to horses.
Why are these people aloud so close to these beautiful horses. It’s bad enough these horses have to stand there with a rider while people take pictures of them but them they have people over and over scratching their noses.
It's good that no one really approached this horse except for idiot girl in the blue. I don't think this horse was up for it today and they should have just taken him back to his stable. He's too agitated to perform his duty properly anyway.
Most tourists do not grasp dangerous it is to stand so close to a stressed animal, particularly with children. A horse might suffer from intestinal problems and that pain is unbearable. Best solution is to dismount and let him recover.
It breaks my heart they haven't take the horse back. However, this could be a new horse and they need it to get used to the people and routine so they wait longer than they would if they felt it was an emergency. They know the horses better than they know their own families so i have to trust in their judgements.

I truly hope that nothing bad ever happens here. So dangerous to have so many people this close to horses. A spooked horse is unpredictable and the potential for serious harm is real. With a crowd, it would be nearly impossible to get out of the horse’s way if it bolts. Please, put up safety barriers to keep the crowd back and to a minimum before something terrible happens. Please. 🙏🏼 Let’s learn from the incident that occurred earlier this week and keep the horses and everyone safe.
Cant say I blame the horse,it's not much fun for him having to stand in that box whilst numerous tourists grab at him. Not much of a live for him really.
Pobrecito caballo está muy inquieto y ansioso algo le duele hasta puede lastimarse y lastimar al guardia deberian relevarlos no está en condiciones en esos momentos ojalá y si lo lleven a los establos y revisen
Pent up energy!!! They need to switch out horses and take them to a field and let them run for a day!!! City life and touchy-feally ignorant tourists will stress them out!!!
Trouble is, if he's not up to doing his job he'll have to be sold, not many job opportunities for geldings, however pretty they look, in this day and age!
The horses knows if he makes enough fuss they will take him in and he will go inside and eat hay horses are very crafty .also thanks to our late queen monty roberts training has made the horses lives even better.
Exactly!! The Queen was very particular about how all her horses were trained and how they are treated. I watch the “other” channel with commentary and he often says a horse it taken in for a particular reason. One was on time off due to needing treatment. They get the BEST care.
Ive seen a couple of times wher there was some sort of high pitched noise from across the road and a protest march headinng from quite a way down the road using different types of strange instruments and chanting and lastly a big group of motorcyclists reving wildly across the road , not a biker club, each horse has its own hates
That bit is annoying the horse.Constant head shaking and chewing , Just my opinion. Poor horse, having to put up with certain people 😢. Fair play to the Guard trying to settle him down, but some people are clueless!!
Poor horses have to stand still for such a long time . I don't blame the horses at all, and to have a human sitting on there back to boot. It's time for the royal family to join the 20th century & install security cameras.
That horse is not going to settle down. It’s fight as much as it can considering its circumstances. It’s trying to tell them it’s not up for this at this moment. Sometimes, I wonder about the horse handlers that come out to assist & assess. They aren’t there long enough to get a true sense of what the horse is trying to convey. Anyone with some experience with horse knows something is not right. It’s not adjusting that chain. The guardsman should know & tell someone. This is not the day for this horses. He can handle the horse, but you can’t change a horse’s will. What does that woman think she’s doing? Yes the guard knows his horse well, but not always can you understand where an animal’s head is at. Much, much respect to guard & horse. 🏆🌟💥
It is beyond understanding why people have to congregate like a pack of wild animals in front and too the side of the horse guard. And they show no respect for the guard or the horse.
If you're referring to the guys in the civilian suits and Barbour jackets, they're off-duty soldiers of that regiment. You can see them in other videos in uniform, on duty there.
@@Roger_Stenning it’s the young lady who appears around the 8m56s mark trying to talk to the horse. When a soldier comes out to help deal with the situation, she’s trying to engage with him (as if he needs her help…). It was satisfying to see he completely ignored her.
Sometimes it’s that the horse can’t tolerate standing anymore. Police horses get retired for this reason and I’m certain the guard horses do too. I don’t think it’s the bit so much as he’s just had it.
I agree with the commenter that said you should always check the bit if the horse is chomping at the bit like this horse is. And also the first soldier that checked the horse should get reprimanded for his treatment of the horse. He was not sympathetic of the horses discomfort. No one checked the bit at all. The guard riding should be able to tell them what the horse is doing. 🤔🤨🐴🐎😠
Not very good at their job today there is something wrong with the horses bit on the right hand side, it needs fixing he is in great discomfort. if a horse is this unhappy the first thing you should check is the bit then the saddle, every time the guard pulls him back he is hurting his mouth
Yeah Chuck him off ,stupid guard needs to check bit or saddle something bother that’s horse ..it’s suffering,I have horses so I know what I’m talking about.
All is not well with this situation. He needs to take the emergency break off. He’s has constant pressure on the shank of the bit. If the port is too high it would put undo pressure on the roof of the mouth. Poor guys. ❤
Oh please be quiet and leave it to those that know. That stupid French woman with the back pack should have just shut up and stopped peeping round the corner. She was a complete mentalist. Once he was back in the box away from crazy tourists he was much better.
