Nhl highlights today - New york rangers vs new jersey devils matt rempe kurtis macdermid are brewing a side rivalry of their own alongside the devils rangers which always runs hot. We'll see what happens with the matt rempe elbow jonas siegenthaler and waving goodbye macdermid interview postgame where he did not seem happy at all. this game definitely wasn't boring and decisions will be made from it and don't forget there is another rangers vs devils game relatively soon. For more coverage of new york rangers highlights , nhl hockey 2024 news and rumors , predictions and picks today plus of course more macdermid rempe stuff (probably a follow-up once we get a ruling) stay tuned. This isn't going to end well for Rempe. Someone's going to get fed up with him and throw a dirty one back and he'll be out for a while, or worse, they won't even target him and go for one of the Rangers' actually good players. What he's doing is dangerous not only for himself but for his teammates.

i find this whole thing kinda telling because a lot of the people complaining about him rn are the same people who were totally on board with pospisil laying all his dirty hits and causing head injuries. so many hockey fans are sooooooo hypocritical in who they are for or against, like if you dont want head injuries in the league yall need to treat EVERYONE equally, there is no cherrypicking who you punish and who you dont. in order to protect players, everyone needs to be treated the same, and both the nhl and the hockey community refuse to do that, and its verryyyy telling to me

Saying he needs to work harder to control his body is hilarious, he could lay HUGE clean hits by tucking his elbow and getting a little low.he’s probably 40-60Lbs heavier than most guys in the nhl. Players will always recognize when another player is making a play and something happens, this guy is a 6’8 260LB goon raising his elbows when he hits and can hold his own in a scrap because of his reach, players are starting to take notice of that

2-3 sounds about right to me. The hit against New Jersey a few weeks ago was clean, he's just big. Went off the rails a little against the Leafs, even as a Toronto fan I didn't think it was worthy of a suspension, but it was a clear charge by both definitions of it and should have been at least two minutes. As you said, he clearly crossed the line here, and should miss a couple games. There's been a pretty clear and quick escalation to his hits. If I was a Rangers fan, I'd be less concerned about a suspension, and more concerned about him doing something like this in the playoffs. Can't argue the benefit he brings to the team, but if he gives the opposition a 5 minute powerplay it could swing a game or even a series the opposition's way. Rangers are a hell of a team, don't need something like this sinking you guys.

Oh, it's all on him that he is a target. Every tough guy on all rosters (usually one if any at all) think they can drop gloves with this kid because he is big, and he is a gamer. (Normally) He can't possibly keep up the fighting pace and needs to choose carefully. I have a feeling the coaches sat with him and told him to avoid dropping the gloves so frequently. He is bound to break his hand on the panty shields the league forces guys to wear now and won't let them take off if fighting. Guess they think if it hurts to punch plastic guys won't fight anymore. Give the kid a break. He is the rookie, and he is not the one skating over and challenging guys before the puck is dropped.

Didn’t look like intentional head contact to me, however he was clearly forcing the hit when he shouldn’t have. I call it bad judgement from a guy who is trying to play to his strengths, he’s trying to force as much aggression as he can cause that’s what got him here and that’s what’s keeping him relevant. It’s easy to look at a slow mo and say “he had plenty of time to abort” or “he lifts the elbow that was intentional to the head for sure” no, and it’s clear you don’t play hockey if you think that. Hockey is an extremely fast paced game, those two guys were moving towards each other very fast, Rempe made the mistake of trying to force that hit yes, but that doesn’t mean he intentionally threw the elbow to hit his jaw. He fucked up, and then to make things worse he taunts the guy. Classic example of a rookie mistake, 3 day suspension and some payback on Apr 3 might hopefully teach him a lesson.
@kimforrest5677
@kimforrest5677 3 месяца назад
It wasn’t intentional. Siegenthaler stopped short away from the boards because he was scared to get hit and Rempe put his arm up to brace for flying face first into the glass. At the same time, Siegenthaler moves back towards him and the elbow hits him. Did he elbow him? Yes. Was it intentional? No.

I think they might have to give this kid 4 or 5 games to hopefully set him straight early. (for his safety) I get he is tall... but he has to be more responsible, the head stuff needs to end. If the league doesn't get him flying straight. Some night in the not too far off future someone is going to tune the kid up and end his career. He hasn't earned the ability to play team agitator quite yet.

That’s exactly what he was doing and that’s what the coach said happened as well. But Player Safety can’t have him being so popular and bringing fighting back into the league, so they have him an unreasonably long suspension for a first time offender. God forbid they have big guys taking the spotlight away from their precious munchkin first round draft picks like Hughes and Bedard who do nothing but whine and wouldn’t know physical hockey if it not them on the ass. Best part is, the NYR have 4 more guys who are 6’ 7” or taller coming up. The league better get ready.

I absolutely love this kid. It’s about time NYR had some toughness on their team. We got pushed around and bullied for decades and now and it’s about time we are the ones doing it to other teams. Rempe has completely changed the dynamic of this team. He makes every player up their physicality and energy and our fourth line has been lights out since he was inserted in the line-up. It’s like night and day since he’s been brought up. And the coach and players love the kid. He’s the happiest, most energetic, fun, wide eyed, hard-working, teachable, humble person and nothing at all like the bad guy people are making him out to be. Former players like Beukeboom have been mentoring and monitoring his progress for years because they knew they had something special in this guy and could develop him into a heck of a player. The best part is he is only getting started.

Rangers fan. I hope he gets 3+ games so he can learn he needs to be more careful. He's more than a goon. He does a great job in front of the goalie. Helping the team score goals should be his primary function. And yes occasionally giving a beat-down when needed. Making dirty hits and sitting in the box (or locker room) isn't going to help the team win.

Lifting the elbow is dumb. He’s already got a bad reputation and that can end up hurting the team way more than his tough play and potential offensive prowess will ever help them (and yes, he has some skill). I like the attempt amid the league and former enforcer George Parros to nip this in the bud; hopefully the Rangers coaching staff also teaches Rempe how to play hard but smart. Taunting the Devils is always both acceptable and appropriate though, and I encourage all teams around the league to continue doing so.

He’s actually 6’ 8 1/2”. Hard for a guy that size when your elbow is at everyone else’s head height just standing still. Is he supposed to not hit just because he’s taller? No way. Just has to keep the elbows tucked but even then, people will bitch and complain like they did with his prior hits which were legal hits. And NYR has three other players coming up who are 6’ 7 or taller. The other teams better learn how to adapt.
