For future reference, birds expend a huge amount of energy to stay warm. This energy is calories. Warm sugar water can go a long way to reviving weak birds of any age, but especially young ones. Excellent job at reviving them. Happy you didn't lose them all.
That's if you are able to get them to actually swallow that water The quickest way is to use a combination of that method as well as theirs and a heat lamp not super close but the heat lamp provides steady heat that the air would be blowing from the hair dryer of course you're not trying to use high heat so you're keeping it barely on them but the steady heat of the heating lamp being over top of them and a heating pad being underneath them as well as once they are able to move around getting them to take in sugar water that would be the best method to really bringing a almost frozen bird back to life
Fold a sheet in half, seal the sides, place turkey babies inside on heat pad, blow dry into the sheet. Instant heating. Good Luck. That truck and airstream would become my home. Hugs n prayers
I just love how much you care for all your animals!!! Even if they are to be food you still give them the best life they could have!!! Y'all are some of the best and most beautiful souls alive!!!
It was so miserable at first…but the turkeys’ survival thanks to your efforts was so amazing~ I’m so glad to see them standing and walking around~ Thank you for sharing this story!🤗
Congrats on saving those poults. Over the years I've known of people who have had poults die just for getting a little rain wet. I'm so happy to see that you guys pulled them through.
I volunteer in the waterfowl nursery at a wildlife rehabilitation center. Sadly, 4 ducklings passed away last night (probably because of stress and most of them are from the second batches of this year). And another one had to be euthanized due to an illness. It really makes my day to see all of those turkey babies survive. And r.i.p. to that peachick.
Those baby turkeys are so very lucky to have had you there to save them. What a miracle that you brought them back from the brink of death. Very scary I’m sure for all of you during that storm ⛈. So glad everyone is safe.
Still can't believe what yall do, me and my parents ordered an incubator for my birthday, and we will use your tips for hatching!!! I still am so puzzled how you guy have almost the perfect life!!! me and my friend are going to hatch chicks so you guys will be a perfect resource, thank you again for all you've done. Have a great week!
We had something like this happen with our meat birds last year. They were out in a area, just for the day and a storm kicked up. By the time we could get to them they were down and we thought we lost them all. We ran them into the garage, used heat pads, a heat lamp, and a blow dryer. Amazingly, every single one bounced back!
I would take a WELL NEEDED trip with my 4 year son Nathan!! ❤️😊😊❤️ That’s so wonderful how you saved all those baby turkeys!! Your both have SUCH GOOD HEARTS!!! ❤️❤️
So happy for you that you were able to revive the turklets (my word for baby turkeys). Your boys are a delight to watch especially when they are with the animals! I’ve donated to your cause and one other at Omaze. My husband is showing signs of dementia and we lost our home 7 years ago. I’m hoping for some type of permanent home for him to get used to before the dementia is full blown. Living in rentals and changing every couple of years will not be good for him. We need some permanency.
Omgosh, them blinking at the beginning was so HEARTBREAKING 😭 That was stressful. Glad you guys saved them. Way to hang in there and not give up on em.
Thank god you guys had the knowledge to move quickly and bring those little ones back to a proper temperature as quickly as you did. It’s amazing how they can spring back with a little heat. I have seen it work on tiny newborn kittens that were found outdoors alone and freezing, also looking too far gone. Life is a delicate balance and this just reminds us.
@Ruben Carrizales Raisin chicken…and raisin ducks?!? I wonder if they put them out into the sun until the shrivel house and dry out on a big tarp…I mean…that’s how raisins are made. 🤣
Thank goodness y’all didn’t give up on them❣️ I’ve seen allot of weird animal things as a Wildlife Biologist, but I’ve never seen something like this.😳
That's why I refrain from putting any bird outside until they are fully feathered. You never know what will happen and if they can withstand it. You can only ever learn though.
In nature, the chicks have a mother hen to keep them warm and dry under her body/wings. These chicks do not have this so they must be fully feathered to be outside.
Love the videos guys!! The wind has been blowing like crazy lately. I will say though we needed the rain. So glad that you guys were able to revive the turkeys. Keep up the great work.
@@mommadeth3066 okay because this is a business sure but in nature if there was a storm this same stuff happens. Like animals die to nature's weather all the time. Im not disagreeing with you but think of if this was out in the wild.
@@mommadeth3066 I was just saying I'm sure they beating them selves over this questioning the who what when's and why's and most likely just sad so my kind heart says leave it be for right now as I'm sure after they beat them selves up over it and ran through the questions and poss answers and when they have I'm sure major changes will come
@@mommadeth3066 Well they are "City Folk" that just decided one day to move to and start a "Chicken Farm". And they are just learning as they go. It's not like they grew up on a farm & have been doing this for the last 20 years or so, it's just been a couple of years. And you learn from mistakes, that's how life works. Unfortunately there will be some casualties but it's part of the process of learning. No one ever start out knowing how to do everything 100% right the first time.
Weather plays a really big role for birds life.. I also have 6 pigeons but a week ago.. because of non seasonal rain 2 of them got really sick and I'm trying hard to get them well again 😞💕
@@goldenscar3933 hey dude.. thank you for your care.. but my birds are already fine.. I talked to a vet.. and he told me they need warmth so.. I took the heater and kept them in there for good 2 days and I gave them luke warm water. To drink they are look fine now...
I have seen a lady revive a chicken found frozen after a noreaster so i think they are very resilient. She took her into her house and warmed her snd babied her until she revived and recovered. So there is always hope.
Amazing work saving those babies guys ! Y’all have inspired our homestead to get chickens & guineas - they’re 3.5 weeks old & all because I watched your chicken tractor build video and got so inspired by the love your family has raising all these birds 🖤✨ I’d love to buy some eggs or enter that giveaway ! I need all black flock !
I'm so happy that you saved your babies. I watch a lot of animal vet shows and one vet in Denver, Dr Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet uses a big black trash bag tent and a hair dryer to warm up very cold babies. That and also heating pads. Watching I kept wishing you had a big tent.
That was flipping amazing. Wow. Isiah is now a full fledged person, just in time for a new little pre-shaped. Love your channel. I am so happy about the new veterans charities. Another channel is sponsored by Omaze too and that one was for college funds for the children of soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice. In Seattle, we have many many homeless veterans. They are the forgotten and thrown aside warriors and it is a tragedy. Many have challenges directly related to their service. I am so happy that this group has decided to do something about it.
You have a very very very supportive wife who stands with you in every walks of life and doesn't complain but just walk hand in hand to do everything you which which is the rarest to find like a diamond in a coal mine. May God bless you with all happiness 😊
Thank you for showing these situations. I think a lot of people new to hobby farming or bird/livestock raising gain from seeing them. Not only do you show it isn’t all rainbows and happiness, sometimes it’s scrambling to save lives and coming back to a pen full of “might be too late”s.
@@whitehouseonthehill I’ve dealt with chicks stomped on by a large dog who thought they were living squeak toys. We were sure the whole batch was done for. Broken wings, broken leg, missing skin (in one instance, when I lifted the chick’s wing every bit of their side was exposed muscle). We didn’t lose a one.
Wow !! I thought there was little to no chance that those turkeys would make it. You folks were fast acting and calm considering the circumstances. Congratulations. Well done.
You guys are so dedicated to your animals! I am a fellow chicken/poultry enthusiast. Everyone who knows me thinks I'm TOO obsessed with chickens, but how can I NOT try to identify a chicken's breed on sight if it appears for one second in a movie?! (I'm pretty sure one of Belle's chickens in the live-action Beauty and the Beast is a sapphire gem!) I just have a small flock of 4 pullets and 2 chicks, but when I grow up I plan to have a big property, maybe even a homestead like you guys, but mainly I really want chickens wherever I end up going in life. Thanks for your content. It's really amazing and meaningful to me.
I had the same thing happen to my 2 day old turkey poults and chicken chicks when I had them mailed several years ago. Brought right in to the hair drier. It worked sooooo well. Literally brought them back to life. So amazing. Our favorite chicken came from that batch; a very sweet light brahma. I'm glad all your poults are OK. Sorry about your peafowl! That's disappointing 😞
Never give up before even trying. I’ve had birds bounce back several times when I thought they wouldn’t. Even injured birds from a predator attack…. I had two birds that I thought I’d have to put down from their injuries from a raccoon attack completely recover. Amazingly. They were pretty injured, but acted like they weren’t and showed an incredible will to live. One even started brooding eggs a day after the attack. So, I’m standing there with my rifle about to grab her put her down…& saw her on the clutch of eggs, puffed up and protecting them. 🤔So I figured if she wants to live, I’ll let her try. She successfully hatched out the chicks & is still here months later, doing great.🤷🏻♀️ I’d have lost the bet if someone asked me if she’d make it.
We have turkey poults and shortly after getting them their eyes started closing. Breeder said he has had no problems. We have been treating them with pink eye antibiotics. Lost 3 out of 9 so far. Seeing some improvement. Never had this with chicks and goslings
Thank God all the poor babies survived! (even though they're destined for freezer camp) I've always heard turkeys are dumb enough to drown in a rainstorm.... So lucky you were home to swiftly rescue and revive them.
You all are awesome! Thank you for this wonderful video. It kept me on the edge till the end. I am sorry about Jedi. You tried to help him but sometimes they are not ment for us. Thank you for sharing this video.
There seems to be a lot of animals dying on this channel. These babies were left out in the rain?! I'm an athiest but i'm definitely praying for these birds.
I spent most of my childhood summers at my grandparents fruit farm. That was like a piece of paradise! I am so ignorant to animal farms though. I wouldn't have a clue what to do. You guys raise so many animals as well as giving them a great quality of life. I can only imagine how hard you guys work to keep this going. I genuinely admire the skill and dedication that comes with it. Your kids are lucky. They look really happy too!
So glad all the turkeys survived . I would love my own ayam cemani breeding flock ! I'm thinking of buying eggs for a special breeding project next year.
