Yeah! When this came out every little town in USA big enough for Greyhound to stop in had a skating rink! So many great memories and thanks for reminding me!😂

@@Salty_Devil Oops! 😊 Sorry about that. I know Jordan mentioned it in the video, but I didn't know if you caught that. I was mentioning it in case you wanted to see the reaction. 🙂
I was 20 when Midnight Star exploded on the music scene and spinning jams at weddings and parties... There songs were a must and jammed to dance floor ... 😊
Josh , I remember about 2 or so years ago when they reacted to I Like It and J said it was fire and Bunny DeBarge even commented on it.Since then I have requested they do more DeBarge several times and I am still waiting, I also requested Switch and Chico DeBarge. Hopefully if more people request DeBarge they will do it.
Yet another mid 80's jam that ALWAYS had the dance floor packed within seconds of it starting. If you were a club hopper in the eighties, you know how smokin' hot songs like these were in the dance clubs...
They was used in the Breakin'2 Electric Boogaloo movie. There's a great break dance sequence (not to this song) reminiscent of Fred Astaire's dance on the ceiling from Royal Wedding. You should check it out since you love the pop n lock dancing is a favorite, lol. The Breakin' movies were cheesy fun! RIP Adolfo "Shabba Doo" Quinone. You would've seen him and other members of the movie dancing in Chaka Khan's I Feel For You video.
This was my jam when I was 13! Really that whole album was a banger. ❤ And I never really paid much attention to what the lyrics were. It was just a bop to dance to. 💃 😊
Yes! Electrofunk. Breakdance music. Early hip hop. Skating rink vibes when we were kids ('80s). Yup, they would play this at those. Lol. Check out Newcleus next! Jam on it! Pop lock it and do the robot! Ha!
I can’t help but think those performers are probably somebody’s grandparents now 😮 Can you imagine their grandchildren seeing this? 😂 It was the jam back in the day though
The ladies of Skyy proved the ladies of the 80's took a backseat to no one. "Call Me" by Skyy was a funky hit on the dance floor and house parties in 1981. You couldn't have a party without that song.
Amber & Jay, Midnight Star is an American group that had a string of hits in the 1⃣9⃣8⃣0⃣’s Electro-funk, soul, disco, R&B. Here R some Music video or songs that U guys have to react. 1)Curious (Song); 2)Midas Touch (Music Video); 3)Slow Jam (Song); 4)Wet My Whistle (Song); 6)Electricity Song); 8)Engine Number 9⃣. Song); 9)Headlines (Song). Songs mean no video.
Jay and Amber, thank you both so much for reacting to "Midnight Star"! This was the jam back when I was growing up in the 80s!! You both should react to "Slow Jam" by this same group. You'd both love it! Thanks for all that you do for your channel! Stay blessed! 😎👍❤️🙏🎉
I was 2 years old when the “No parking on the dance floor” album came out . I just remember my parents would all have this album blasting out the stereo. One of my first memories and a reason I have a love for funk music .
Great! Jay you are right, we were tearing it up on the roller-skating floor! When this song came on, we also saw guys doing their popping and locking routines on the carpet area of the roller-skating rink too. Those were awesome times and great music! I enjoyed your video reaction! ☮ and 💕
I have no prior knowledge of this artist nor have I ever heard of them.... Until now, I gotta say Rob Squad this was a fun, catchy and fresh little number. 😎👍... Nice job, I love learning about new and different music and artists. Thank you and you're both super awesome.
Yes, yes, yes! My college music! We danced the heck out of this song and many other great 80's songs, especially 12" versions! My daughter loves this song too!
I’m 58 and this was great music to skate to, doing the Shuffle 🤩 how I miss these days! I just had a heart December 3rd and Open Heart Surgery January 12th. I’m already skating around the parks, horse riding, and my favorite thing is taking my boat out fishing 🎣 🐟🦐🛼🐴♥️
This takes me right back to the fall of '83. I was going to school five hours away that fall and made the round trip drive every weekend. A five hour drive from home on Sunday night to attend that school week, and a five hour drive back home on Friday evenings. Ten hours in a car every weekend with nothing but a radio for entertainment will forever drill into your head anything that was getting a lot of airplay at that time. As I passed through and near towns, stations faded in and out, and I chased up and down the dial for a signal, any signal, I feel like I heard this song about every fifteen minutes. 😄 Also Uptown Girl, (Ain't Nothin' Gonna) Break My Stride, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Safety Dance, etc. If it was getting Top 40 airplay that fall, it's drilled into my brain. People who were alive back then will recognize the monotone, synthesized robotic voice on this song as being "inspired by" the voice of the Cylons on the late '70s sci-fi TV series Battlestar Gallactica.
Oh man!! I was a junior in high school then. This brings great dance memories back to me!! I haven't heard this for 37 years!! God, I feel so, so old!🙄🤦🏼♀️ THANK YOU FOR THIS ONE🥰💃🏼 Ohhhh...we were freaky for sure, Amber 😏😂🔥
There I was, a young Marine overseas, my pitcher of Mojo, and a beautiful Philippina woman sitting with me. This song as well as many others. Such a joy to be 20 years old in the 80's!.
this was such amazing time in life and music i just funny memories when this and we party and great back then in 1980's back yard parties and hoildays clubs where playing this here. miss this.
I found a RU-vid video circa 1983 where they did this live in Los Angeles. So many keyboards on stage! The energy on that was way higher than this music video.
This played at the all age dance club, The Metropolis. There, the dance The Smurf was what we did with this song and others. The club was very underground for its time. They did not make those of us under 18 leave before it closed at 0400.
Midnight Star was one of my favorite 80s music artist. Some of their other hits you have not reacted to are Wet My Whistle, Electricity, Midas Touch, Snake in the Grass and Don't Rock That Boat was their last big hit in 1990.
Right up there with other dance faves: Robocop (Dance Til You Drop), Get It Girl, The Ride Inside, The Cars That Go Boom, Don't Stop the Rock. All guaranteed to make you shake a groove! Those of us must listen to with caution - freak dancing can cause hip dislocation!! 🤣❤
This was their breakthrough hit, which lasted for 4-5 albums. High school memories. My jam from this album is Wet My Whistle. Slow Jam was its third big hit.
Hi, J. & Amber! Another Midnight Star funk hits: "Midas Touch", "Headlines", "Don't Rock the Boat (featuring Ecstasy from Whodini)" just to name a few. They have some real good slow jams like ""Searching for Love", "Move Me", Follow the Path", "Slow Jam", "Let's Celebrate", "Love Song" and the list goes on. Ramdomly suggestion: "Get Down Saturday Night" by Oliver Cheatham.
This takes me back to 14 at the school dance doing the Alligator(one of our 80 dances) to this song! LOVE it! Always loved this sound too..Another one I liked was Pac Jam and Space Cowboy(my fave)...both by the Jonzun Crew also Apache by the Sugarhill Gang,,
Amazing how much influence Kraftwerk's "Trans Europe Express" had on early hip-hop and electro funk like this. You can hear it all over the place here.
HERBIE HANCOCK - " ROCK IT " ( Official Video ) Club Bangers 1983 Totally Different Song released much later same title like LIPPS INK's Rock It ) but not at all the same song, yet it's so groovy too both songs are equally Awesome
Thanks for bringing back great memories on the dance floor. Many of the 80’s dance songs also had the “extended dance version” which were about 10-14 minutes long!
