no fkin way, not a single time have i see the freakish ears on a stand theme song continue i thought it was canonically just composed with two 4 bar loops to compare some headphones
He played more of that song one other time, back when he went through his headphone horde in an After Show and compared a bunch of his AKGs. Good stuff.
You'd be surprised how many channels I watch and this song gets used. ElectroBOOM, I believe Slo-Mo Guys, I think it's even turned up in a GrayStillPlays video lol _(there's more, but mentally they haven't stuck with me)_ _edit: Wuerfel knows what I'm talking about!_
The problem with saying "See those monitors there?" and showing a picture of a computer desk is that, as a computer person and not so much an audio person, I of course immediately looked at the *computer* monitor and not the audio monitor.
@@pesterian41 pretty sure that was him playing the senny's against themself so there was 0 audio difference, maybe that did happen idk but i have watched pretty much every single dankpods video and i dont remember the song ever continuing more than the typical until now.
Fuck Apple, man... Just, fuck 'em. Maybe back in the day they used to be innovative and at least somewhat consumer friendly, but no more. And I don't want to hear how other companies are "just as bad".
That’s literally how Apple products are. And people (Apple) wonder why actual people (us) are abandoning them. Apple has taken their “we’re better than you” attitude and has applied it to its own users. Because they think they own the tech world and have forgotten that that specific ideology is what killed them back before STEVE JOBS took over. We need another Steve. Let’s just say THERE IS A REASON WHY THE IPHONE SE 3 still exists... and there’s a reason why there was no iPhone 9th generation... and why the iPhone X was so vastly different than the iPhone 8. They scrapped all the iPhones designs they had already designed passed the iPhone 8... that’s why the iPod touch 7th generation wasn’t updated. Someone hated Steve and was just WAITING for him to go so they could start their vision of Apple *cough* Tim Cook *cough* Craig federighi *hack* *dies*
Because he seems to have intense reactions to the smell of things I have always thought he had sensory issues. (like when he is actually smelling something not just saying something smells lol)
tbh it’s probably the jazz musician in him. when you hear something exceptionally good, you hit that stank face. the further down the jazz iceberg what you heard is, the stankier the face
The airpods connecting to your iPad and ruining everything is the exact reason why I hate bluetooth headphones. They randomly connect to devices when you don’t want them to, it’s hard to switch between devices unlike corded where you can just unplug them and plug them into another device, you have to remember to charge them, they have terrible microphones, and the only advantage they have over corded headphones is that you don’t have to deal with a cable which I feel like isn’t even really that big of a problem.
3:31 I hate that. Anything with customizable lights needs to have some in-built controls. I don't care if they're clunky or don't have as many options, just let me turn the stupid lights off without an app
“Yeah, let’s make a desk fan with controls that spew out the most horrid blue light known to man, it’s not like anyone will leave it on while trying to sleep or anything!”
4:13 That’s actually because the cable includes an ADC inline - the Lightning port is a fully-digital spec and doesn’t include support for analog signals. $59 is still a *really* ridiculous upcharge for it, especially considering that Apple’s own DAC dongles are ridiculously cheap.
Hilariously, at the beginning of your video when the audio cut out it LEGITIMATELY thought it was my own bluetooth headphones failing on me - which have been getting increasingly frustrating and inconsistent as of late - only to find out the reason was your headphones hijacking the bluetooth audio on your end. I love the freedom of movement bluetooth headphones give me, but damn this video is extremely relatable ...
God I want this man to review other things so badly. Like those fussy clocks that don't use hands, or weird trains, or reptiles, or the taste of citadel paints, or different types of meat pies.
What are your opinions about the rampant sexual discrimination at Linus Media Group, and what are your thoughts on Linus testing prototypes on GPUs or want designed for, then instead of returning it to the manufacturer, auctioning it off to their competitors? Then refusing to help resolve the issue?
@@alecmullaney7957 they had an independent investigation conclude a while back and the results published, and they already made a statement about the GPU. I would def suggest checking out both.
I completely felt the tech purge comments, and I'm doing the same, mate. I run iPods, I buy CDs, I use cabled headphones; the modern tech wasteland sucks
Those on the 'seas' are miles ahead of you and everyone else. 🏴☠🏴☠🏴☠🏴☠🏴☠🏴☠🏴☠🏴☠ Honestly, I've just got a hard drive bay and look for enterprise hard drives myself.
If I were to do CDs again, it would be to buy them, rip them and sell them right on Keeping physical *stuff* around isn’t worth the rent-space it takes: Take the area a standing CD case (or anything) takes, and count how much it would cost as actual real estate. This is your subscription fee.
"I've ditched Windows and Apple's next I'm tellin' ya." You won't. Everything you have is Apple and even after much complaints as of late, you still get more :D
This is why I like my Skullcandy Crushers. Once that battery is gone - They'll still work over a cable. The aux port is wired straight into the drivers. I'll just lose the bass slider as that requires power.
I have some focal listen wireless (got given them) and they do the same thing, if the power runs out I can just jam in an aux cable and other than the play pause stuff it works perfectly
To my ears (bass player ears too), the Focals kicked the excrement out of the AirPod Toasters- the Toasters sound way bassier and frankly muddy, whilst the Focals had an even response across the entirety of the spectrum.
Next up the line is the Celestee and a new one I forgot the name of, they are wired thankfully. Put that with something like Audioquest Dragonfly (F You, Samsung for removing the headphone jack!) and you are good to go.
4:57 the music continuing there instantly activated a fight or flight response in me, so used to not hearing the rest.
What i like about the bathys is that it works even when you charge it. Most of the high end bluetooth headphones like Bose turn off when you charge. Its a shame you have to turn it on to use the 3.5 mm jack. But after 1-2 years (i bought it around launch), it still has good battery life. And i read it maybe in the manual or on focal website, but they change the battery if there is a problem with it. If i remember correctly it not a proprietary battery, you can buy one if you want to.
Yeaaa. You and me both. I now have 15 pairs of classic and modern AKGs and finally got my dream pair of Austrian Audio Hi-X65's. And I blame Wade for ALLL OF IT (In much the same way as he blames Frank!) Damn you Wade!!!! (But also, Thanks..)
9:28 There was a big fuss about the battery on the bathys dying one day, and it has been confirmed that they use a very generic cell which can be replaced independently.
I've owned the Bathys since they were released. Worth every dollar. And the app is fine (has the noise cancelling settings, EQ and hearing compensation too), no signup if you don't want to. Then there's the properly good battery life, and at least Focal has also said they will replace batteries (not free of course) when they eventually die.
I bought them this week and I love them ! But is it true that the bathys will sound better over time? I heard that they need at least 40 hours of listening to get the full power and stuff
@@Lukas-vy5pb No that's a common myth in the headphone world, that they need to "burn in" before they get good. It's caused by a shit ton of factors but the gist of it is "People noticed that they like the sound of something they've become used to better than the sound of something new and instead of rightfully saying that *you* need to get used to them, they've started saying that the hardware is changing"
the problem with having an app is that it will stop working one day. Eventually it will not be worth the R&D cost to the company to keep the app updated and compatible with every OS release and support will be discontinued. It's good that it doesn't require a login because that's another service that will one day stop being supported so another point of failure
Listening to the freakish ears segment between the Max's, 600's and these on actual reference headphones is completely blowing my mind. Like, all three of them have their own subtle flavor of good. Anyway thanks for being a big influence and helping me get into higher end audio and it's great to see an actual way to turn off BT stuff!
6:16 - I have Focal Bathys. Sadly, as far as I can tell, you can't use them AT ALL while off. So once the battery is cooked, they are e-waste. Would be more than happy to be corrected tho!
That would be an instant deal breaker for me (if I was looking for bluetooth headphones in the first place). The Sony WH-1000xm4 I got with my phone can be used wired with an aux cord when turned off, which is actually my preferred way to use them. Even then, I will use my Meze 99 Neo or AKG K712 Pro over the Sonys whenever I can, since both of those sound better.
I looked it up, and according to a post on iFixit, the battery is not designed to be user replaceable. It's crazy to ask someone to pay several hundred bucks for something that will only last a few years, especially when it's not due to a real technical limitation. $1200 for the same problem is like an automatic disqualifier IMO.
@@justinharrison9521 yeah, for the next 5-10 years but i would bet that you can't get a new battery in 20 years. On normal headphone most likely only your cable will break but it is easy and cheap to change to another one. When you have good cables they will last for decades. The only thing you have to change regularly are the earpads but it is the same for this Bluetooth garbage. I have an Sennheiser HD598 which is now ~14 years old and still works. My HD660s is 6 years old and my Focal Celestee is 3 years old. I expect all of those headphone will still works when the last Bathys goes to the landfill because of a dead battery and no replacement.
This is why I got the 99 Classics, tried them on at the store and immediately loved the sound, and they will never die a battery death. The guy at the store even said Meze is pretty good about providing replacement parts, so hopefully these will be my forever set. Now if only I could find a phone with a headphone jack that doesn't suck and has long software support...
0:25 when the audio cut out I thought my bluetooth stuff was breaking because I was just updating related stuff, only to read the text and realize it was *your* bluetooth stuff breaking. that made me laugh
That mini "incompetent degenerates" rant made me laugh way too much. It's especially funny to me given how much I drive for work and some days the incompetence of others really gets to me.
I feel like in 5-10 years there's gonna be a massive DIY movement for restoring BT headsets and converting them into standard sets. Probably gonna be heaps of fun and frustration.
Fun fact. I watched a doco on fake fashion. They reckon a genuine LV bag smells a bit like cheese. So if the same thing applies to french electronics, they're kosher!
You know another great thing about bluetooth headphones, paying premium price and noticing that after a year of usage the advertised 3 hour battery life turned into 2 hours and 30 minutes battery life. So frustrating if you use them all day 3 days a week
4:57 this is just a beauty to behold. We've been hearing this song for over 3 years now to now hear more than ever before!!!
NGL the old AUX stinkbud mic almost sounds unacceptably good. Like, we had this TEN YEARS AGO!!! But somehow our Bluetooth microphones never really got much better in that time. BROTHER HUMANS ARE SOON GONNA LAND ON FREAKING MARS HOW HAVE WE NOT FIGURED OUT HOW TO MAKE DECENT BLUETOOTH MICROPHONES BY NOW?!?!
@@mysteryboyee Yes..... So how about we update that standard then? Like I know that's very much easier said than done, but come on now this audio quality is an insult to modern tech. I'm studying to work in the live audio industry. And I know for a fact, standards in audio transmission and transmission of data in general can change. If there is a limitation then you upgrade and change your systems even if it's cumbersome and hard. This is not mission impossible.
