IMO installing fork cartridge kits requires advanced mechanical skill. If you don't feel comfortable after watching this video I would send them in to get serviced. - Van

Yes you can. You are able to change what is called the "Cartridge" with an ohlins cartridge kit while keeping the stock out tubes. Good question.

@@sportbiketrackgear I'm sure he does good suspension work with good outcomes. The top-cap 4 pin Ohlins tool is not expensive. Only a basic open end wrench or socket is required to turn the pre-load adjusting nut. Using channel locks in lieu of the proper tool is not professional. If he put channel lock jaw teeth marks on my top cap, I would not be a happy customer.

@@portquarter its a plier wrench, not a channel lock....

The specialty tools to install Ohlins fork kits are available from Ohlins. With certain forks you will also need some specialty tools to get the OEM cartridges removed. We have some of these tools on the site and they are pretty reasonable. The reality is for most people best practice is to have the forks serviced by a professional. - Van

If you do not have access to a service manual or tech documents for the cartridge kit in the forks you are servicing this would be another way to get the oil level. - Van

@@sportbiketrackgear sorry i found it easier my way for the simple fact was a pain in the ass to put the oil in it before putting all the parts off it measure the oil in again, i didn't have a tool to drop in to pull the tube out then screw it on, so i left oil out turned upside down then when it dropped a little i pulled it put it all together then then filled the oil slowly yes plus pump it around the system seems all good to me, ive never motorbike ones before but been been mountain bikes for about 20 years now and have to say some of them a lot harder to do especially the BOSS kit
