Nice job! I tell my students that raised or crooked parts give their project character. Don't be afraid to leave the solder iron on the joint a little longer to let the solder flow and to avoid cold solder joints that can cause open connections. On my students projects, after looking for solder bridges my second suggestion for non working boards is to have them go back and reheat all the joints. That usually does the trick. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the excellent suggestions! I have "discovered" all your advice after doing several of these kits already. I definitely recommend watching videos of yourself doing stuff like this. You then notice what you could do better. I hope you will see that by episode 5 or 6, I have improved. I am recording Episodes 7-9 right now: "Make Your Uno" kit from Arduino. Thanks for watching!

Good job. As Keith mentioned, I wouldn't be afraid to leave the iron at the connection a little longer to make sure the solder flows well. I usually used a small wedge tip on the iron, but that's strictly personal preference. Thanks for posting.

You are right - as I said to Keith ... I have figured out I need to go a bit slower with the iron as you suggest. I started with a small wedge tip (before these kits) but I think I was overheating small parts so I went to a standard pointy tip. I am getting comfortable with it now. I have six episodes already complete in this series so I hope you will see that my technique improves. Thanks for watching!

using the new board holders, worked great, nice board kit, snipping was worrying, eye protection ? maybe add an optional turn table under the board to easily rotate the work piece

Thanks for the suggestions. I always wear eye protection when soldering. I get better at lead clipping in later episodes. I also have a new board holder that will be featured in later episodes to allow board rotation. Thanks for watching!

What are those PCB holders you are using?

They came with my magnetic helping hands - ordered from Amazon. I unboxed the helping hands kit in the following mailbag: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Mg19-W3Zic8.htmlsi=1ZR7riftYF3x0yXj. Thanks for watching!
