Thank you. Glad it was helpful. I couldn't find a video on how to do an oil change on a R-23 so I figured it out and then made this video hoping it would help others.
The dipstick tube on small yanmar engines is a “Straw” just use a flexible tube to cover top off tube and vacuum. This will get most of oil, 2.5+ quarts IIRC.
Nice boat, motor sounds good. I didn't prelube the oil filter on my car bc I figured there was enough oil reside to do the same thing And I probably over tightened it. Good production. I searched yanmar ranger and ur vid did not come up. Then searched 3ym30 and it was first
Thanks for the feedback. There aren't many 3YM30 oil change videos out there so that's why I made this one. I took everything I learned from different places and put this together so others don't have to spend the hours I did researching.
What diameter tube did you use to go down the dipstick tube? I bought an oil extractor pump from West Marine that came with two size tubes. The smallest was a 1/4" and it wouldn't fit down the dipstick tube. I have a Beneteau 37 sailboat, but it was the same engine.
