Also the correct answer is a clan is entitled to claim 1 of 3 wells. If 4 people want claims they must split the pipe. 6 clans can claim 1 field this way. Everything else is greed.

I think the fact that regiments are "claiming" resources in a game where there is no system for claiming shows that there's a problem with the way oil operates within the game. The collection of oil from the field is the pain point. There's no "manual" way to collect it like with literally every other resource, so there's no way for someone to learn how to use it without blocking access.

thank you. i feel updated on the drama. i did notice the posts on reddit but couldnt follow much due to my exams. i laughed out loud when the word "claiming" came together with the words "oil fields". inputting my personal experience with oil fields on 1.0 war as a clanman. a series of important exams made it difficult for me to play foxhole, but my addicted butt still played 1.0 war. the regiment i played with is fairly new, only 10-15 wars old and has 8+ avg online members most of the time. i wasnt expecting the clan to try build an oil facility but few members were enthusiastic about it and gave it a go. i joined from the 3rd day i think, and came when the initial structures were complete. i was excited as well to figure out how things worked. only 3 players were dedicatedly working on the facility (4 after i joined in). and we were going pretty good. i am not aware of any claiming stuff, we just went in and started building and no one made a fuss about it. the motto was simple. that facility is a public facility. everything and EVERYTHING that came out of that facility (oil, and building materials) were public. anyone can swoop in and grab oil and can demand as much as they want. we would provide as long as we have it. even with 3 active players later on, working as man pipes (manually shifting oil to liquid stations until pipes are unlocked) we pulled a lot of oil and other mats for use. it was grindy but fun. the region grew up into a a small logistical coalition, where one regiment built near a coal area and provided coal while another one worked with us to connect everything of the hex to another hex with a rail line. trains were public and anyone could use them for transporting resources. we would visit each others facilities to admire the designs and placements of structures and such. people would thank us for the oil often and id tell them it wasnt necessary. its all public anyways. now the reason i find "claiming" funny is because the amount of oil that comes from just simply man piping is a lot for early game standards from my pov. for example, by day 5 we had so much oil that one guy randomly asked if we could provide him 400Ls for frontlines and we said YES in a second. because we were literally begging people to come and grab the stuff we had so that we can pull and store more in the liquid stations. we were nearly full to the brim lol. imagine the output when automated pipes were unlocked? guys its more fun sharing than hoarding it for yourself. trust me.

I'd say what needs to happen is the devs need to start strictly enforcing their code of conduct. There need to be clear, severe, and public punishments for people who break it. Solo man bad, clan man bad. What this game needs is more players with the same mindset of working together. It won't get better unless the game changes its mixed signal of what type of game it is. Do they want individuals to do everything or do they want players to work together? Sadly, it won't get better until the community fixes its mindset. Military operations require cooperation. Not a single war in the history of mankind has been won off the backs of those who do their own thing at the expense of the whole

I started playing foxhole earlier this year. I was interested in creating a petrol production facility which routed the petrol to a nearby seaport so that petrol could be loaded into liquid storage and ship via freighter to the front, or hex that needed it since petrol is useful for vehicles and harvesters. Since I was brand new to foxhole I was attempting to understand the production process and was looking at a already developed facility. At some point members of the clan that were operating the facility notice me. They didn't say anything in voice or text chat, just followed me as I was looking at the facilities. Then they killed me, I returned to gather my dropped items and continue studying the facilities was killed again, again with no communication. I considered declaring a one man war on them but after reviewing COC found that I would be violating them like those individuals had. I reported them and went on my way to one of many endless bridge battle. Logi is pretty crowed and with the current war the hexes all seem to be lacking refineries. I don't know if that is just due to random rotation or some update did that. It feels like you need a train in every hex just to transport raw mats to the hexes with refineries.
@RobertLovesGames
@RobertLovesGames Год назад
You tried communicating with them but they didn't say anything to you? Strange. I know we had a similar situation happen the other day where someone that was no rank was just wondering around and didn't say anything. It was pretty sketchy. We don't get these fights over comp fields even after auto harvesters were added because anyone can bring a harvester or hammer and get comps by hand. We need a equivalent system. Buckets could scoop oil by hand. Oil buckets put in liquid containers could be transported to facilities. Oil buckets could be worth more than raw oil drops from pipes so a non feild oil facility may only need to refill its 2-3 containers every 24 hours.

I have always thought that if you build on a node sight you should be 100% focused on production of that resource. Many wars ago I worked a comp field, and made the gear for max output of comps. All by myself I was able to pour out comps until others came in and decided that comps were not as important as just taking my equipment for their own ends and dropping comp production till I finally gave up. I think the same applies to oil as in a war only a few ago I found an oil node abandon and taking it over all by myself was able to get production up to where I was having trouble storing all the production. And I remind everyone I am just one guy. I'm about winning the war, if you build on a node then produce. "An army is a team it lives, eats, fights, as a team. This individuality is a bunch of crap" - Gen. George Patton

Hello! I love you video on the topic of the oil drama. I am a victim of a oil drama situation before and was hoping to explain my experience with personal oil drama. I had also gotten to an oil field at the beginning of a war with another clan that barely spoke english. I got into an agreement with two of their members to share the field if they built it with me. They agreed, built one 4x4 foundation, and then logged out instantly on the spot. None of their regiment members showed up until 90 hours later after I had assumed they abandoned their claim and had my own base built to protect the field I was working on. At that time a single member showed up alone to harass me with threats to my life out of game, threats to flatten the field, and actively telling me to kill myself. Confused, I entertained this man for about 20 minutes and he would vanish; repeating the same behavior every 24 hours for 4 days. The next person from that regiment informed me about the discord claiming system 5 days after the war had begun; I looked around to try to get access to the system but have not been able to and to the day still have not been able to gain access to the hidden discord system for claiming, your video shines more light on the claiming system that everything I have been told about it for the last 6 months. Unable to be part of the claiming system that I have been sent screenshots of I end up ignoring it and continue on my task that I had been fulfilling for about a week straight; human piping for 18-24 hours a day; 36 hours at one time. By the time I was getting threatened by the same regiment member on the 4th day I was delirious and just laughing at them; I couldn't understand anything other than "we are going to mammon this entire place." which I found hilarious because more than 90,000 bmats had already been spent on construction of defenses. One tech jump later, pipe technology arrives. I set out to collect pipes and stop my tasks of human piping for more than 120 hours at that point. As I am setting up pipes I receive more threats but in the region chat; other regiments call in their own members on their own initiative. I've been awake for more than 36 hours again and can barely read the font of the chat. Mostly repeated veiled threats to contact people. I respond to them in the region chat and get ignored. I wait for a response in confusion and eventually respond again, but get ignored by these people. After about 30 minutes of them threatening in the region chat I have to call in my own regiment to get help with trying to diffuse the situation. The regiment refuses to negotiate at all, choosing to arm up and destroy the buildings; typing in the region chat "this could've been avoided if you talked to us" which infuriated me because I tried to talk to them but they refuse to cooperate; instead wanting the entire location for themselves. Explosions and sabotage begins as they destroy an actively helpful facility, half of the faction is already on site fighting back. I stand around with a pipe on my shoulder trying to talk to the hostile regiment in local voice chat try to ask them to stop and talk but they ignore me and continue to blow up the entire facility. Only after they get mostly weapons restricted, starting to get banned, and their own base starts getting mammoned do they actually start responding to me. I ask to split the oil well usage with them again, agreeing with them that they can have 1 oil well. With the situation kind of okay I go to sleep and prepare to repair e v e r y t h i n g. Morning comes around after a frighteningly short nightmare filled 3 hours of sleep. I wake up to rebuild the facility, I log on, and there are 2 oil wells tapped away by that regiment. After 150 hours of playing the logistics game and slaving I had broke and gave up; I quit trying to cooperate with that regiment. I walked through what remains of my tattered destroyed facility and demolished all of my facility buildings to get their materials back to move my facility to another location far far away. As I went about packing up my home to leave, I was harassed by about 10 of that same regiment again; most of them recording and telling me in local chat that they are recording to use the recording against me; concreting my distrust with them forever. Yet I was not done getting harassed by them, as I try to collect all of the garrison supplies I have left in my base, at least 15 of the regiment members would come by to bother me directly with weaponry, voice chat, or text chat. I tell them that I am packing up and leaving and the place is all theirs, but they do continue to harass me for 2 days afterwards. The harassment unfortunately followed me out of foxhole into social media platforms including Discord, Facebook, Reddit, and RU-vid. The entire drama has hurt my trust in parts of the community, I am confident that this did not permanently change my trust in playing with any regiment in the game. I play Foxhole as a logistics game when I dedicate to a war, when dedicated to a war I am online for an unhealthy amount of time; 17 to 24 hours on average. The logistics game of Foxhole has a satisfying aspect to it unlike any other kind of game I have ever touched or heard about keeping me loving it and returning for these strange long playtimes. I do agree with the topics you speak on about if the developers worked on removing some of the scarcity of resources that there will not be a problem with them again. I have seen repeatedly over the years that when SiegeCamp has made the raw resources less scarce that we had significantly less internal conflicts. Balance is hell I suppose. The main outcry for oil is automation; keeping the facility powered and moving 24/7 is what is the most desired feature of an oil facility. Automated power is important for facilities that produced construction materials and held power for maintenance tunnels at the time; nowadays the tunnels do not need power, but at the time they were a flawed crucial tax to having a facility. SiegeCamp has figured out that these oil problems are from a desire of automated power so they are getting warmer on the perfect solution to the oil problems, I believe the same as you that SiegeCamp should experiment with oil fields for some wars back-to-back to see if the community like it more. They quite literally would have us on their side when it comes to experimenting with oil field variants and/or expanding the numbers of them; I think I speak for the community when I say that we want something more to do with the oil fields than the conflicts & headaches we have been dealing with. We should happily join hands to figure out a better solution to this than wasting away energy fighting over nothing. I know I will. We just have to put our heads together and come up with compromises. Hopefully SiegeCamp will be more transparent and allow the players coordinate the claiming of resource locations earlier since it is the current going method that is working.

Wow that was a wild story! Thanks for sharing and I'm sorry that happened to you. Are you trying to do more oil stuff this current war? Or have you still given up on it for a bit? To be honest, the update for coal in this round was great for it. Issue is that there is still not really much to do with it, besides throw hours into hammering to make a plant run for a few hours at the same power as diesel. Now, if they made an in land water pump, you could start making your own oil with coal and water. Powered inland water pump keeps the water flowing, and just regular shipments of coal keeps the oil flowing anywhere. That would solve a lot of oil drama, and let smaller clans produce on a near automated level that oil fields produce after pipes come out.

Devman want us to trade resources with each other, but doesn't give any way of finding / contaction other groups that are willing to do so. As you mentioned Mail system would be nice, or some public place with listed regiments, needs, or just any public message with any info (maybe home region, big white board type of thing? To advertise your clan? Share some info?). Maybe create some sort of trading outpost building? Example: structure that automaticly changes 100 coke for 100L petrol if proper items are inside. Then there is a problem with timezones, nobody is online 24/7 to interact with you. This needs to be automated by the game itself. Other problem might be language barier. Devs need to implement some sort of universal way of comunication / change of resources.

If you do claim an oil field, the best way to make sure larger clans do not strong arm you off of it is to build it really well. You've got to do maths and research, unfortunately. I highly recommend 'Foxhole Planner'. If you are a small regiment controlling an oil field, then forget building the production centers, just focus on producing all the types of fuel people need, and giving them easy access. Allow clans to build nearby the field, so you can mooch off of them as much as they mooch off of you.

To be fair, my experience might be skewed because I'm a well known soloist ingame. I've rubbed shoulders with pretty much everyone, and they let me do my thing because they know that if I build, I WILL manage them efficiently. It unfortunately takes a lot of experience to navigate the drama minefield, but typically, power belongs to those who make the msups.

Like if I was in charge of an oilfield, I'd have it feeding crude into a publicly open reserve buffer first, then into a refining line for Petrol that also goes into a public buffer, and only once that's entirely full would I then divert the flow into my facility, and once the public supply drops low I'd redirect the flow back to the public supply.

I once nearly tried to solo an oil facility. There was an unclaimed site one war for 2 days due to its GARBAGE location. Nearly made a run at it but had no time. I think a way around this would be to add another way to get oil beyond MASSIVE COAL PLANT THAT MAKES TINY AMOUNT. Maybe something like oil springs (maybe at sea so we get more sea shenanigans) that spawn up temporarily and can be harvested with a relatively easy to make structure, but for a limited time. I doubt this would fix much but I think it would be neat to have smaller oil rushes throughout a war rather than one big one.

My opinion (been playing ~ 4 yrs) is that regiments that will: 1) Put in the effort to maintain the oil field throughout the entire war with enough people to do so and 2) provide public liquid fuel output for ALL refined liquids (Petrol, Heavy Oil & Enriched Oil). I have no issue with the discord methodology BUT I would insist the applications are evaluated based on: "# of consistent players per war for the last 4 wars (see a trend)", "# of resources mined, refined and delivered per war for the last 4 wars (see a trend)" and the regiment play style. I don't care if only a single person exists in a regiment (which is hyperbole) when it comes to running an oil field. That being said knowing that someone ran a well built scrap field giving hundred of thousands of public BMATs is more impressive to me than 50 people hoarding fuel.

On the collie side, oil fields are given to regiments based on who wants one, and who was most efficient in the last war. The only problem generating issue. Is a clan taking an oil field and thinking they "own" it. Resources are limited so no one owns resources direct. If they want to avoid issues then they also need to build a hefty public access area to those resources to. It stops complaints and if the public oil is out then oh well you get to wait. Otherwise as much room as possible should be left open for others to build on the field to. Or people are just going to destroy whatever is in the way. Going off your idea of underground oil. Its not a bad idea. That oil could flow in certain hexes anywhere inside that area. Just at a slower rate of return. Then people can still collect oil from these vital hexes, give the war greater resource dynamics, and larger oil fields would be more critical. Making these fields a key target for the opposition to attack.

What would you say about the neighbour that is building a "public oil" facility. But its so poorly run it has 1/10th of the output it should, and when asked if we can hook up a pipe to our facilities, the owner goes berserk? We tried to mediate that issue, just trying to get automated facilities with an oil pipe to us and our neighbours. But it blew up into a civil war, other people that weren't involved piled in to stir the pot and escalate it and it caused more drama. How are you supposed to handle that situation? That's a really tough situation. That person needs to learn the right way to do things but in a nice way which can be hard if they are being hot headed about it. With the new system that should be a bit easier with the que system but not quite what it needs to be. I studied economics and love economy simulator. I recently set up some public facilities. I noticed that the economy of foxhole is EXTREMELY inefficient in practice . We can heem and haw about ethics and whatever but the core issue is that transactions are complicated in foxhole, which is strangling the wider economy 1) there is no currency. Clans have to barter and its hard to establish prices. Bartering is inherently inefficient. Which discourages trade 2)how do you ensure you get what you paid for? You have to physically show up, likely with a truck. Trains IMO shouldnt be player run. And cargo ships are not as good as they should be. Especially for transporting liquids. 3) if oil clans could be incentivized to easily sell their oil, they would. They would be fabulously wealthy but also everyone would have oil. If a clan didnt want to sell, another clan would be stupid not to as prices rise.

Your example scenario sounded a lot like the conflict my regiment got into in war 101 especially since you used several images of it lol so I'll give our side as clan A. At the time, we were not aware of the Discord system for claiming, since I don't think it is publicly available, so we just used the system that we knew of which was first come first serve. About 45 minutes later, clan B, which is a larger clan, came to try to take the oil field that they claimed using the Discord system. Eventually an agreement came about that ended up with us spliting the field between our clans. A few days later, clan B abandoned their facility and never came back and the one guy from clan B who still occasionally worked the facility agreed that we should've had the field. The war ended up being short so it didn't matter much. War 102 comes around and we, clan A, go through the Discord system and get our field with no drama. Clan B ends up starting a conflict with a different clan over an oil field and loses. A lot of us at clan A are tired of the drama so we are probably not going to go for oil and focus more on public logi in war 103. When facilities first came out I really loved them, but the more I've worked them, especially oil field facilities, the more I believe they often do more harm than good, which is why in war 102 I've focused entirely on public scrooping and have barely interacted with the oil facility. We had one oilfield for one war and it was much more resources than a regiment needs (every day we had to ship stuff away not because the frontline needed it but only to create more). And please don't throw the problem on the devs. They made facilities public. But they cant manage if the smaller clans get shot up by 30 people. And the idea of a oil drama does not make sense, or any resource. Even though I never played the game, because of no PC, but what I know may be limited, but I know a few things. Facilities take insane amounts of work to keep running, and are a necessity to supply the large operations that give us our edge and reputation. With that said, we try to be as charitable as is realistically possible at a given time. Petrol is often being recycled back into the facility for the first several days, but becomes abundant and public after. I encourage solo players to approach clans and ask if they can use their resources, I know many that would be happy to help, or at least explain why they can't help you at the time.

Perhaps give clans an incentive to do one thing instead of everything. When creating your clan, select if it's an Infantry, Armored, Artillery, Engineer, or Logistics Regiment; give them specific buffs depending on their specialty. Infantry regiments get more carry capacity, carry more ammo, dig faster, and are more resistant to the elements. Colonials spawn with the Grenade Uniform. Armored regiments get buffs to repair speed and vehicle fuel usage; they can spawn with the tanker uniform and are finally resistant to gas while inside tanks. Artillery regiments get a buff to-round accuracy when using artillery and have a higher chance of penetrating armor while using field guns. Wardens spawn with the Heavy Ammo Uniform. Logistics regiments could get buffs in the gathering of resources. They can gather resources faster, fit more resources into trucks, and the trucks move faster off-road while using less fuel. Also produces things in factories faster. Engineer regiments get buffs to building, build stuff using fewer materials, and dig faster. They clear mines easier and also have an increased load capacity. They also do more damage to structures and are able to carry more heavy explosives. Spawns with the engineer uniform. I think this would incentivize more teamwork among clans that will use these new advantages to their overall benefit. Randoms would not be debuffed but would be base game stats.

Main problem is the oil fields cannot be used without an oil pump, which themselves are limited to 3 per node. Oil is the only resource that cannot be extracted by hand, which means pumps must be built and maintained by someone. Oil is so logistic heavy, you can't expect any kind of public thing to work. What sucks about facilities as a whole is the amount of work required to maintain just a small thing. While yes, the last update gave us home made supplies and mass produced supplies, the consumption went to the moon because its based on server load. We are at a point where if a small regiment builds a small base in a hex with already a lot going on, not only are they going to suffer the pain of a very high consumption rate, they will make it just that bit worse for everyone else around them. I am part of a medium-sized regiment and i am not kidding when I say our consumption went as high as 2.8k supplies per hour. At this rate, you cannot realistically maintain a base without having power 24/7 aka petrol/heavy oil power plants. There is a reason why the Tier 3 bunker consumption reduction was added back mid war. I'm Warden main, and while things are certainly far from perfect, from my perspective, things have been relatively "okay" for war 102 in the area me and my buds operate. But I still dread every war start and all the stress and drama it always carries.

You're not exactly correct when you say both factions' claiming systems are similar. Sigil for example does not rank clans according to any metric, instead it has in place a system of mediation where groups are encouraged to claim fields that are unclaimed. If two groups do happen to claim the same place, they are then encouraged to work out a split or some other kind of arrangement. If that doesn't work out and an argument gets heated, a neutral third party gets asked to mediate (but not rule! there are no judges). This is all based on the argument that faction hubs have no power over other players, and as such cannot be expected to control faction allocation of resources - especially as enforcement of control will involve breaking the Foxhole Code of Conduct. Thus nobody on the Colonial side is involved in controlling allocation, other than the clans negotiating among themselves based on their facility plans. In addition, since the Sigil claim system is not on an invite only faction hub, it is open to a wider array of clans. The system you described is WM specific, and is not in use by Colonials. You are entirely correct though that it is ultimately in the hands of the devs to make oil processing a non dramatic affair. One idea was to increase the number of fields, but decrease the pump output to ensure that more regis could claim fields, but would have to cooperate more on oil product exchange.

If it sells too quick, increase the price, so you get happy, and only those who need the resource the most get it first, instead of letting it go to wast for people who just enjoy dropping it in the river for fun.

I think they should take the existing oil fields and turn them into many smaller fields. That would allow for more even distribution between clans and a clan being inactive holding a field would be less of a big deal. Also if they want us to fight over the oil between factions they really need to put more of it in the center of the map.

I feel like I've been quoted thrice 😆 You make some all round good points. I've been a member of a big regiment, I've been a member of a small regiment and I currently play solo and in ~1400 hours of playing foxhole I got into 3 fights with faction members, it's amazing how little effort it takes to solve things peacefully when both sides are willing to solve things instead of trying to make a point. There are people that become regiment members and instantly go in a power trip and think they're owed by every other faction member, there are also people that have some sort of unresolved grievance with a regi member that will antagonize any regiment member because "that one guy once did something to me". Heck, I once got invited into a regiment made up of people who joined cause they didn't like regiments (go figure). When these people meet in-game they're not gonna back down and they're not gonna want to be reasonable, they'll just try to beat the other side no matter what. For these (and many other) reasons I think the devs must come up with something to solve this, they're aware of the limitations and strengths of their software and are in a way better position to deal with this. But I also think they'll only do it if it affects a significant number of players and if it disrupts their idea for the game in a significant way. Anyways, I always enjoy seeing community members bringing foxhole discussions into other media, there's too much sodium going on in the subreddit. Keep it up

Destroying the private stocking "stuff for later" as a thing is a hope. Limited options to stock, limited numbers to stock. Small limited numbers, x 0.5 or even x0.3. Only PUBLIC facilities. C'mon, this game should be about "every unit - is a human". To win the war you need to have a strong army. To have a strong army you need to produce goods for the frontline. TO product goods - you need to gather\producting\deliveryng stuff. This is the main goal - the main fun of the game. Claiming resources - cancer, that killing the spirit of the game. Nothing is done on the frontline until the big clan is joining the fight. Why so - not because they have better logistics. But because they have goods to deliver because they reserve everything (or 90% of all) they gather and produce. Hundreds of incredibly stupid FULL private stockpiles with several resources that could push through 3 or 4 hexes easily, if just it got to the units on the front. To PUBLIC. But no. All the people, who play in regiments are singing the same old song - ONLY big clans make a difference on the front because we are skilled in fights and operations. And all the randoms are foolish Pte's and wasting resources. So yeah - nonrespect to other players and non-trust to anybody but your clanmates (other big clan tags). I'll say it repeatedly - just for 1 war try to make everything public. Yes, there will be 5-10% of players, who are not so skilled and will waste some resources. Like 5-10% But in case we have right now - 60%-80% of gathered and produced stuff JUST STAYS IN PRIVATE STOCKPILES without any use for WEEKS.

I do know that a lot of the larger warden regiments at least try to do public oil. Having seen the conversations and interactions in the earlier days of the facilities updates, there was a strong push by people to force into the culture that oil is public and a public good. Of course a large regiment that maintains the field may set aside a pipeline for personal use but trying to claim the whole thing is probably going to cause you to catch flak. Not that this always works but it could be a lot worse I think discord should be the main point of claiming oil fields. Obviously if you waste or don’t act on the claim you should lose it. But trying to bring in as many people as possible into the system should be done. If we wanted to just do first fine first server anarchy, then the large regiments can just bully everyone off anyways. But the discord allows a more fair playing field for smaller regiments.

a few things about this. First. doubling or even tripling the amount of oil available wouldn't do anything to balance aside making facilities in the area quicker/easier to operate. Secondly, there's no need for the 3 well limit. The way facilities work, you need all 3 wells if you want EVERYTHING to be piped in and automated. There leaves no room to share the field with anyone else if you're one of those big greedy clans. Lastly, its worth noting that people will wage war, and even kill each other over the right to automation of their facilities. I actually had a long discussion with a massive French clan about their rights on 2 oil fields and 2 coal fields on the front for their "trains and coke". The sad state is, If you're large enough, you take by force whatever you want, and there's little anyone in a regi with less then 10 people can do about it. The solution? double the amount of oil fields and coal fields, and rig a method in which you can pump coal directly into the new coal power plants from the field. If there's any major drawback to this im not seeing. let me know. but, isn't simple options like this a full win/win?

I'm actually the developer of the Colonial/Sigil Oil Arbitration system, and it's one goal wasn't to create an isolated system of "who gets the oil" but to formalize the process for Sigil affiliated Regiments so we have "a process" instead of utter chaos, of course chaos still exists with randoms/those unaffiliated with Sigil, but it's better than what the Devs give us (nothing). I absolutely agree that we don't have the communication/tools to manage these Oil War situations. Hell, perhaps Oil shouldn't be needed/available until Day 2 or something? The section around 5:40 is the exact thing, Devs wanted supply lines, not multiples of facilities that do everything, but humans don't play nice like that in games like Foxhole.
@RobertLovesGames
@RobertLovesGames Год назад
I applaud you for setting up a way to try to organize the wells in the first place! Thank you! Any thoughts on what might be useful for a communication tool? I think the recent map update in terms of intel is a step in the right direction. Available day 2 or just again knowing where everything is before the war starts sooner maybe? The problem is coming from a game that DOES have systems that allow players to be more organized, PLAYERS will avoid this. Anything that that players can do to min/max they will do. If a player won't play ball within game parameters that are set (even if their aren't many boundaries) creating them will just cause more power hungry players to go harder. I get the sentiment, but history from other games proves why implementing systems to allow more cooperation only causes more headaches in the end.
@RobertLovesGames

I agree with the statement that players will do whatever it takes to min/max. Which is probably a part of the problem because people have different ways to min/max which causes conflict. Imagine fighting over oil... This brought to you by the Colonial Gang. The primary thing people don't understand is that location, location, LOCATION is key. Sure, oil fields are an easy pick to build on, but they are not the only option. If you do not have access to an oil field, the best thing to do is to make sure you logistics is as smooth as possible collecting the alternatives. In the worst case scenario, the bare minimum you need is easy access to scrap, and to the refinery, to produce diesel. I highly recommend a scrap field either near water, or near a refinery, so you can freighter in diesel. Small gauge trains when relatively near a Refinery also work. But the reality is, not EVERYONE can have a facility, and to complain that most organized groups have control of the most important resources is silly. Obviously, you don't need a million different facilities everywhere. That said, clans need to make sure that use of the facility is accessible to the public, and the only things they should keep for themselves are trains and Battle Tanks. They can have private stockpiles of fuel, parts, and munitions, but they should not restrict access to the factories. There is no reason to 'horde' an oil well, as it produces more than the facility will ever need. Regiments or individuals who claim oil wells need to make sure they are producing all the different kinds of fuel for public. As for the individual, if you see that other people have already built vehicle pads, DO NOT BUILD ONE. Ask instead to use theirs. The best kind of facility small regiments can make are resource gathering facilities. With these, it's a lot easier to negotiate the use of other people's facilities, because you made it easier for them to gather the resources they need to maintain them. Also, resource gathering facilities have low upkeep costs. Typically, a resource gathering facility has only a materials factory to make msups, storage for the intended resource, and methods to more easily transport the resource, such as small scale trains, docks, large scale rail, and cranes to transfer it all. Docks and train tracks are an especially HUGE draw to a resource field. Oil field drama doesn't have to be an inevitability, it's a choice. Regiments hamstring their own faction, if they do not do the bare minimum to ensure that other people get the leftover production. That said, like I said, NOT EVERYONE can have a facility. It is not uncommon to see people try facilities, only for them to rot away because they don't understand the logistics of keeping a facility. It is not impossible to have a facility without oil access, it's just that those that do have access are on EASY mode.
@RobertLovesGames
@RobertLovesGames Год назад
Location is a big deal. I see this on KronusWinter's stream all the time at the start of wars. He normally talks a lot about why certain oil fields are better with where they are located. With all the new map updates and being able to see all the facility buildings I think this should help make it so players don't think they need to make their own pads or facilities sometimes. They can just use others. Would be good if we could get facilities to be better at specialization instead of trying to do it all. Thanks for your feedback and thoughts on this! Really appreciate it! Cheers!
