Great technique, Miss Vicky! I haven't seen anyone else but you do this halo blending technique in their books! Very cool. The nice thing about the Portfolios over regular oil pastels is that they are also water soluble. Keep doing your great pages! xo
Thank you! I had purchased some oil pastels on accident and then read that they could not be used in coloring books because they would transfer. I'm totally trying this out soon.
I'm also "weird" and LOVE the feel and smell of paper and books; ESPECIALLY the crinkle-y ones. Even crayons, colored and regular pecils, erasers, etc. I just love pretty .much everything art, school supplies, stationary, pens, and planner-related. I have so many coloring books ALREADY, but there are SO many more out there that I want. but it's kind of impractical because I'd never be able to color all those pages in a lifetime, probably even if I started coloring at birth! LOL.It's ESPECIALLY impractical(FOR ME) to keep getting more coloring books, because there are some that are just so beautiful that I won't color in because I feel like I'd ruin it. I just want to keep them pristine, I guess.❓❗💜🎨📗✏✒🃏
Vicky I'm glad that you showed these. I didn't know there were such things as oil pastels that were water soluble. but I saw them last week, went to three stores yesterday to find them and couldn't find them anywhere. What a cool technique, I always love to see your process videos they're so fun. Thanks love always
I'm so glad I found you. I bought set of oil pastels and I was totally clueless on how to use them. I'm going to do some art journaling online and now I am so excited; I can't wait. Thank you so much. I also love adult coloring books.
as your coloring on other pages and u press/rub on other pages the oil pastels tend to rub off on the other page. you could put a sheet of wax paper between the pages. :) cool idea, never thought of using oil p's in my coloring book before!
Thank you. I had bought oil pastels at the $ store and they have been sitting on my craft table. Not sure of the quality but I am definitely trying this. I have the blending stump too. Thank you. Love your ideas!! Keep them coming!! 🖍🖍😉
Every time you do coloring video it motivates me to jump back into my coloring books. Sometimes life gets so busy with the husband and kids that I don't have time to do all the things lol
Please don’t ever take this video off your channel. I keep coming back to it when I forget the technique you used! Lol. One question though; have you stopped coloring? I notice your channel is more focused on planners and tools for planners. Hopefully you upload a video of any recent coloring you’ve done. 😊
What timing! I just found some oil pastels in a draw, and was wondering how to use them. You must of read my mind, from all the way over there! I just need to get me one of them blending thingies.xxxx
I, too, love your coloring videos! Just ordered my Secret Village coloring book yesterday, along four others!! 😆 Looking at this technique, now I need some oil pastels too. Thank you so much for everything you do Miss Vicky!!
never thought to use oil pastels! thanks for sharing vicky. i use them quite a bit in art journals-i like how they cover a lot of real estate without having to be precise. i love my coloring books....but sometimes-all the intricate details make me wanna pull my hair out ;) i WILL be trying this technique!
I'm so grateful for this video. I've been curious about coloring in adult coloring books with oil and soft pastels for a long time. I even have some basic supplies, I've just been kind of nervous to try it. but this video really helps me, so thank you! And BTW- the blending stumps are just that: blending stumps and they are basically just really tightly rolled paper. There are also ones called 'tortillions', but I can't recall what the difference is, or if there really even is a difference. it may just be size? I love how you pictures turned out and I absolutely LOVE that coloring book! I first saw it on your channel but haven't been able to get it yet.😞 You are a VERY good boss. (of your coloring book😉😍)
If you ever want to clean the paper stump just rub it in a piece of paper to remove built up color. I use mine with the soft pencils. I love it that you're into color books. I always have been. My 26 year old son told me he had a new hobby. It was coloring loll. I told him I colored while I was in the hospital after I had him. He just shook his head.
they're called a blending stump or paper stump. you can actually clean the end off with an emery board. i use a blending stump with gamsol to blend my colored pencil. lots of fun and i totally agree that blending is very gratifying:) tfs!
Tortillion? I think that's the technical name of blending stumps. And I've seen people rub them against a nail file to remove the stained color and sharpen the stump a bit. Great video 👍
I want "Secret Village" and "the magical city" books SOOOOOO badly, it's crazy. and I believe that there's another "magical-something?"that I would also like to have. Peta IS amazing.
Have u tried the Water Soluble Crayon? Neocolor 2, Lyra, etc? They are gorgeous. They look like crayon but u use them like paint. So pretty and creamy.
