About I LOVE SAILING:
How is life at sea on board an oil tanker in the merchant navy, a fully rigged training ship, an offshore service vessel and a sailboat?
My name is Thomas Dyrehauge. I am 33 years old and from Denmark.
I have spent many years of my life at sea. The past more than 10 years I have sailed in the Danish merchant navy on board oil and chemical tankers world wide, from the rank of Deck Cadet to Chief Officer. I have sailed on fully rigged training ships both as a trainee and an officer and also on offshore crew transfer vessels as an officer.
In my spare time I sail on my 30-foot "Bandholm 30" sailboat and on other sailboats as well, mostly wooden ships.
Maybe you dream of a maritime career, of sailing around the world or maybe you are just curious on the life at sea.
I have made this channel to give you some insights on the life and lifestyle as a modern seafarer and I hope it will inspire and motivate you to pursue your dreams.
Thanks for watching - See you in my next video!

This audio needs to be looped into an asmr video. It’s probably the best genuine sounds I’ve ever heard. Most of those recordings are not really at sea and layered with other sounds. This is 100% real. The wind, the creaking ship, fantastic.

This is not bad at all! The ship seems to be reasonable full of cargo. So these waves are not even close to be harmful to that ship. Just wait until you get in to the big rollers on 30-50 Meter + tall in the winter storms in the North Atlantic. Then you might have to brace yourself to avoid being slammed to the walls. Been there, done that back in the 1980's.

The only food they served was beans, crackers and sandwiches. It was near impossible to sleep, take showers or a crap! The heads (washrooms) were a cesspool of vomit, sloshing water and floating waste products. Not pretty!

We were standing on deck, and you could feel how bad the ride was by the tossing and turning. My Dad says let's go back down to the lower level. He said it wouldn't be so rough. When we got there he was right it wasn't too rough but the puke coming over the side from the people above was worse to see than the rough ride itself. What a Trip!
