if you listen to the lyric its really make the performance perfect, i think i like this version better than the original one, i can hear the vocal loudly and clear, the lyric itself really hits me hard, the simplicity of the rythm makes it perfect

The phones make the bell sound as well so it just melts together. Probably sounded better sitting in the audience though.

@john Smith Lol. Maybe so. Also maybe they wanted to do something arrhythmic. It's like when you go to a concert and get mad when they dont play it exactly like the studio recording. (Like if this were the 60s or 70s or even 80s or 90s you'd see it as some expiremental thing. Maybe part of it to disrupt expectations. Maybe so. Maybe not. It's hard for me to imagine that guys who can coordinate playing a song by driving into sht are truly bad at keeping rhythm ya know? Also its maybe simply the delays that exist in the layers of all of this digital recording. Also bells dont exactly cooperate. Also considering the lyrics of the song isnt it appropriate that the host needed this and we got something we didnt like.)

I think the loud bells were in case the audience derped. But to give them credit, I actually don't find those types of games very easy, even though I consider myself musical.

D. DeWaal You're right! Clashing bells together is certainly something that mustn't happen too, so that needs a lot of care when picking up and putting down bells. Ringers usually wear gloves to further protect the bells because you could still accidentally brush your hand against bell A while trying to pick up bell B. Some ringing techniques also need a thumb to be placed on the bell to change the sound, so gloves would be needed.

plhu I'm assuming as soon as the idea of handbells came up, they met a professional, learned how it was done, and made the decision to go "gloves-off" after trying several methods - and decided this is what would work for them on this occasion. I know a few ringers and it's the old rule: kids, don't attempt this without proper supervision.

I hope they didn't consult a handbell professional because the way they ring is embarrassing lol
