Woke is Neo-Maoism. Maoism is against the “Four Olds - old ideas, old customs, old habits and old culture”.

Wokeness is basically applying the marxist lense to all human interactions, not just those based on class. So the same way a marxist thinks of the rich as oppressors and the poor as oppressed, a woke individual would take that basic dichotomy and apply it to literally every human interaction, white and black people, men and women, straight and gay. Because the people who think like this imagine that they saw a truth no one else has, they began calling themselves "woke", and are now mad people are using that name to make fun of them and pretending they didn't come up with the term themselves.

As a white man, i expect people to automatically assume I'm racist or sexist as a blanket label without knowing anything about me. Society has de-evolved to where racism is bad, but "reverse racism" is good. What they fail to understand is that "reverse racism" IS racism.. it's right there in the name. Btw, Sound is fine. On the occasional moments I actually agree with Bill Maher, he defined what woke means perfectly: "A collection of ideas that aren't building on Liberalism, but very often undoing it." I recently learned the National Geographic Magazine is ending. I stopped subscribing in 2021.I couldn't bear it any more it had changed beyond all recognition. Strangely the letters page from readers had also been removed. It was only later I discovered Disney had gained control of it in 2019, when the changes began. They put activists in control. I use this definition. Woke is the belief that society has been intentionally structured to either privilege or oppress specific groups, that any disparity between these groups is evidence of these structures, and that actively enforced equity is required to remove these disparities.

My definition of woke is, a person(s) or concept(s) that maintain a facade of socio-cultural awareness or involvement without contributing to any particular social situation or culture.

In regards to stories: I think it's a writing style. Specifically a propagandist writing style. It's not necessarily a story being political. Most stories discuss politics and philosophy. But woke stories don't do that. They don't "discuss" anything. They're not interested in storytelling. They're interested in activism. Their activism comes first and storytelling comes second.

What'll be more dangerous and damaging is when these people realize that they were the bad guys all along, and "what they were fighting for" was a lie. The realization that they wasted 10 years of their lives over a fiction that consumed them won't end well.

A simple way to define "woke" is "Anti-Liberalism". It isn't liberal obviously, it's Marxist/communist rhetoric applied to Identity politics instead of class. Capitalism is tied to "Whiteness", therefore capitalism is bad because whiteness is bad". It's an entire thing within academia. The problem is... many people often mistake NORMAL diversity or LGBT characters as "woke". But this isn't the case. There are lots of LGBT people out there that are anti-woke and it's not cool to lump them or their content in with the dangerous people. My take on woke is that it originally meant "Aware of injustice" but since people used it while not being actually woke, the term came more to be an ironic version, meaning you think you are aware, but you are actually clueless. Examples: "I'm against violence, so I support Palestine and hate the jews". "We need to stop the gatekeepers in comics by making sure they are gatekept". "2016 was the first year a woman had a lead role in a movie" "Black people can't be racist, and all white people are born racist" "We need equity, which means everyone has to get the same result regardless of effort and experience"

One of the really big problems that those on the Right have, or even those not necessarily on the Right like myself, but who oppose and despise what the Left - especially the far-left - stands for, is the inability to properly deconstruct and explain what 'Woke' means. And I agree with something you said, the word itself has become a bit of a joke, not only because our side uses it willy-nilly, but because of the derision their side applies to the word when they use it. If you grant your adversary the power over words, and if the means of communication are in their hands, your battle is halfway lost. Now, what is behind 'Woke', after all? There are many things, all coming from radical leftist thinking. Postmodernism, and its opposition to truth and objectivity, as eschewed by thinkers like Foucault and Derrida. Postmodernism thinking, in and of itself, alongside with postcolonialism, would come to influence many of the tenets the far-left clings to : CRT, Gender Theory, Queer Theory. They say that truth is not an absolute, and that reality can be whatever one desires it to be. And to them, what they view as the truth, is not subjective - it's dogmatic, and should you question it, then there is something wrong with you, and you get called names. You know the ones, it's either a '-phobe' or an '-ist', But more on this in a bit. Obviously, they also adopt the ideologies of Marxism, Leninism, Stalinism - all of which directly descend from communism and socialism. So that's, in part, what forms the thinking in both ideological and philosophical terms they uphold. But there's more, obviously. With all these directives comes a very targeted disdain and hatred for western values. They despise beauty. They despise institutions that stood the teste of time, and which produced many a brilliant mind. They abhor the notion of organized religions, belief itself in a higher power is anathema to them. And this creates a yawning chasm deep within these individuals, because if you believe in nothing, then you'll believe in anything. And if you can believe in anything, then you'll believe whatever you're told without question. That's why they started going for the young ones, and now increasingly so - it's easier to indoctrinate at an earlier age than it is trying to do so to someone who has experienced, well, life. And these past years they've had access to something that makes this indoctrination so much easier to enact : they have the power of social media. It's so easy now to spread your propaganda, even if it's on a subliminal level - think a 'pride' or 'antifa' flag on the background, think carefully chosen hashtags, thing far-left buzzwords that are hammered into your subconsciousness time and time again. Up to a few years ago, had you ever heard of the prefix 'Cis'? Now it's part of how they define you, it's - you guessed it - dogma. It's also something taken directly from '1984' - all this doublespeak that is their ethos, their incessant punishment of what they deem as wrongthink, and obviously, their newspeak. Tell me how many words are now part of public discourse that came from their side? Like 'Toxic (insert whatever you hate here)'? Like 'Patriarchy'? Like all these made up pronouns? Do you think these appeared ex-nihilo, or do you think they were carefully curated and disseminated through their echo chambers? One other thing I should mention is that this isn't anything new or original, really. This is an ouroboros, a pattern that repeats itself : 'All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again'. Woke shouldn't be a catch all phrase, it loses it's meaning. i think with RU-vid and social media, we've hit a level of shortened attention spans and definitions that don't fully suit reality. I was told Scavengers Reign was "woke" because it has a brown person in the trailer (it's actually the best show on tv right now) , that's a perfect example of misuse of the word.

Woke is the social term for excessive progressive, intersectional philosophy, which tends to also have some link to Marxism or Socialism. To be woke in nature, typically requires one to feel an obligation to showing that intersectional morality consistently throughout any interaction by looking at the power structures inherent between any figures inside that interaction. If one is an opressed group (or a Minority group to all normal humans) that person is being held down by the system or society and thus must be defended at all costs while pointing at the oppressor and whatever group they are attached to by their mere existence, and denouncing them. This is particularly done by majority group woke types (White people who are woke online typically) to provide clear veiw that theybare infact one if the good ones.

In this case, perceived slights against certain groups of people, movements, whatever, over everything else that would make up a product.

I agree that woke is too useful a term to burn it out through overuse. Not everything is woke. For example, compare a movie like "The Wiz" with a movie like "Cleopatra". The Wiz is a goofy spoof of the "Wizard of Oz" with an all-black cast which was not trying to replace or erase the original. I would not consider it woke in the least. "Cleopatra", on the other hand, is a deliberate attempt to rewrite history and is most definitely woke.

I don't think with every comment, tweet, or video you have to explain what woke is. You've made lots and lots of videos being glib and making fun of woke so i think it's ridiculous and unfair to call out a random tweet when Dan has posted multiple things the last several years explaining how he feels and about what he considers wokeness. Almost all corporate media, Hollywood and a lot of corporations are woke so I don't see explaining woke with every comment. It’s crazy how scared you guys are of evolving. Society changes, sensibilities change… we grow, we evolve. I say it all the time, this ain’t the 1950s anymore. You can hate it and bitch about it, but it’s not like things are ever going to regress back to the way they were.
