I tried both the Origin and the 4 Strike on the same day. but I had so much glorious drone footage I had to savor the editing process and draw it out over 2 videos. this was for my head. I thoroughly enjoyed the process. it's a little long. sorry, not sorry. thanks for bearing with me. where was I?... the Origin! this is my origin story with the Origin. my thoughts are at the end. it was a great day, 3ft windswell on Cape Cod got me stoked. thanks for watching! and huge thanks to F-One ‪@FONECULTURE‬ for supplying me dealer at kitesite.net ‪@kitesitenet‬ some sweet demos for all to ride. righteous.
Gear in this video:

Looks awesome. Drone footage is great but I also enjoy the on-board footage as well. Gives you a good feeling for how it actually is.

awesome, and agreed! the drone will only be a treat from time-to-time so next week we are back to the regular angles. I'm happy I got to edit two in a row. I'll be living that high for a while :P thanks bud and I wish you an awesome weekend!!

Hi, your awesome too... What I found comparing the Strike v4, Swing v4 and Origin on a lighter wind day with a downwind board and high aspect foil was that the Strike has a lot of forward speed. It got me on foil the fastest and easiest because of that 'out in front' forward pull. Swing also worked very well too. The Origin has a lot of over the pull and quite neutral position, so for the DW boards and high aspect foils on the start it didnt always have the best forward traction. Few days later I went out on my sinker board, having an upward pull like the Origin was helpful to get me out of the water but with the Sk8 I didnt always have enough forward speed to easily take off. But that is where the Swing v4 worked perfectly for me.

Great feedback, thanks Andrew! 🙏 I look forward to riding a Swing, super interested in which one I’ll gravitate to!

So if low end power/grunt (getting up easier on foil), very stable flagged out (DW) and easy to tack and maybe start 360’s and very important to you, which one has the best balance of those 3 attributes. Swing V4?

Hi I still ride strike v2 with 30L sinker boards and armstrong HA wings. .I tried the strike v3 and did not like it. Did you noticed better upward pull and initial speed on the swing V4 than the origin?

I'm looking forward to that side to side comparison review with the swing and origin. So far my experience with the V3 strike is that is heavy in comparison to V2 swing... So keen to see how this develops for you. Super nice video
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 3 месяца назад
yeah I'd love to get back down to my wing dealer to demo... it's been a busy month but fingers crossed I can get at it in the next few weeks. the v3 is very heavy in the way it handles compared to the 2v. that load diffuser was kinda a bad idea adding weight in the trailing edge, the low wind drift is annoying, but it taught me to drag the wing on the water more. thanks bud, I wish you an awesome day!

Love my V2's glas I never got caught up in the V3 hype, the V4, not sure with all that handle options and sand getting in there, V2 to Origin could be an option. Nice footage from the drone!
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 3 месяца назад
yeah I think you'd be happy going from the v2 Strike to the Origin. the Strike will be more high performance, so depending on where you are, it could be a good option, def better than the v3. but if you aren't into jumping to the moon or cranking upwind in a race, the Origin checks all my other boxes. LMK what you end up doing!

Great content as always. Did you comment yet on the HA 780 vs the 6 and 880 ??
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 2 месяца назад
Sup bud! I’ve made some comments… lol. One foil quiver: 780, kinda a direct replacement to the 925. But I sold my 780 already, thinking I’ll be on the 680 prolly more than 60% of the time and the 880 when everything is lighter. That is, until I got the 580, and now I’m hooked on that one after 2 sessions. Ugh! If you were lighter, like 70kg, a 580/780 quiver is prolly an awesome plan. The 780 is right in between the 680/880, so a little less pump and glide but a little kore speed and better turns. It’s really nice. But I do appreciate both the 680 and 880 for what they individually cover.

Comparing to Strike video, Origin looked really much stable. Strike was all over the place. Definitely you gotta check the Swing that is aimed at wave/downwind riding. 🤙
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 3 месяца назад
yeah my experience that day was that it was lighter and more stable. I've seen a few people say the opposite on the web, so it could have been the wind but that was my experience. I hope the Swing is good too. if not, I could be cool with the Origin! thanks bud I wish you an awesome weekend!

I tested the Origin, nice wing but i went for the strike 4 without be able to test it, and I’m very happy to have made that disunion, the strike is more spicy at the end 😉

sweet bud! I'm sure I'd be stoked on any of them. I'm holding off to try a Swing... I have a feeling that I'm gonna prefer that one. It's weird, from teh specs on their website, the v4 Strike got a little heavier than the v3, the v4 Swing got a little lighter than the v3, and the Origin if the lightest of the 3 this year. last year's was frustrating to me how heavy they were, and the longer I rode them and the coating wore off, it seemed to absorb more water and be heavier, which was annoying when riding in say... onshore wind/waves. so I feel like the shape of the Origin will drift the best, but curious on the drift and feel of the v4 Swing. fingers crossed they send one to try! thanks bud, I wish you an awesome day!

Great ‘not review’ J Man….Very interested to try the new FOne’s…. Although when the V3 arrived I changed to the XPS Armstrong… now it’s gonna be a tough sell going back to Fone….🤔 but a nice problem to have. Great content as always 🌊🏄🏽‍♀️🤘🏽
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 3 месяца назад
thanks bud! it's funny, I really liked them last year for about a dozen sessions, but they got blown out so quick I'm still working through the trauma. so heavy, such a departure from what I used to love and expect from FOne. I've never tried an XPS, and I'm highly considering. I really want a light wing that has decent power and handling that drifts well. that XPS looks like it checks all the boxes. there's an Armstrong guy that just moved here and I'm hoping I can demo some of his stuff in the next moneth or two. I'll wait to get a session on the v4 Swing. ultimately I figure out which is better for me, the Swing or Origin, and and then put it head-to-head with the XPS. we will see! give me a month or two to figure that stuff out. you dig the XPS? tell me more!
@naughtymonkeyman5645
@naughtymonkeyman5645 3 месяца назад
Looking forward to hearing your conclusions from that face off… the XPS is incredibly stable, maybe the only chink in its armour its the low end in the 5.3. I feel there are better ones out there for low end, however the rest of the package is so good I can forgive that small point 🤘🏽🤷🏽‍♂️

Those dealers get you so hooked on the gear,so we decided we are doing a robery on a bank you can be Nixon . Awesome footage great edit had a fantastic flow to this one mate . The origin sure looks like behaves like a true surf wing . And the strike 4 seems to have more grunt I'm sure the strike would be the one for sending jumps on flat and origin for surf smooth styling out . Just get both bro 😊 Have a awesome weekend .ps Bank job mid May
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 3 месяца назад
at least I get a mask! lol! yeah it's a solid wing. my big decision is do I spend flatwater time on improving dw stuff or do I further my jump/trick progression. I suppose I'll do both, but jumping high isn't a huge need anymore and I'm sure I can make most wings work for that. I have a PPC M1 5m coming soon so I need to build this year's quiver around that. maybe I'll just be using smaller sizes, we will see. May... ok that should give me enough time to figure my stuff out. settle my affairs, buy plane tickets, order gear to arrive on time... 100% pure adrenaline!

thanks bud! I still dig Units. I was thinking about going DLab this year but some of my friends said they didn't like them as much this past year vs the year before so I held off. Looking forward to using a PPC M1 soon. and maybe the Units will blow me away this year... and if so, I'll totally get one. right now I only have a 7m Ventis.

I really like your reviews! They feel really down to earth and honest. I've only tried a strike v2 and a cwc (5.5 and 8m). After a 3 hour session my fingers get all scratched up from the handles. Any tips on how to avoid this? Do you think hard handles go easier on your hands?
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 3 месяца назад
sup bud! and thanks!! interesting issue. honestly, I haven't really experienced this. if you are new to winging, your hands will probably adjust with a little more time. I still get blisters and whatnot on long sessions, and my hands are pretty calloused. hard handles could have the same effect. sometimes the harder handles are grippier. how new are you to winging?
@mbrecker
@mbrecker 3 месяца назад
Being winging for a year, but I've being extending my sessions and pumping the wing a lot more lately. I'm probably on the way of getting some calluses 😅. Specially on my index and little finger.

Thanks for the Not review Its nice to confirm my expectations about Origin. I still ride strike v2 cause i dont like v3. For me strike v2 is perfect and when i try v3 i bought 3 strikes v2 so i have what to use in next 2 years if fone dont come up with something better I hope the origin is better than strike v2.
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 3 месяца назад
yeah I def agree with you. and the Origin is really nice, I'd love to try it back-to-back with the v2! I still have a v1 3.5m and I love everything about it except it has the older handles. I get so few sessions on the 3.5m that I've never felt the need to sell it. I can't say the Origin is better, but it's nice to have something slightly updated. I can't wait to see the weights of all these and compare to weights of previous years. thanks for the comment bud, I wish you an awesome day!!

Hey Bud. Awesome drone footage. Now we have a real view of what you're riding. You have the place to yourself. Your review sounds dead on, sincer and unbiased. Love it! Interesting comments on the Swing. Demo the same size with same handles. Looking forward to your review. On another note... what leash are you using? The super short coil leash to the calf. The one thing that annoys me with my leashes is the dragging behind and stepping on them. I've tried several different but yours looks best. Length and make?

sup bud! the drone footage... I'm still stoked. it's gotta happen more, I just need to travel and ride with my friend on Cape Cod and I just don't have a ton of time these days to get down there. I hope they send a Swing up here but who knows. I'd love to try one. but I'm kinda stuck cause I'm not gonna order a wing till I know which one s the right one. we will see. as my awesome monkey friend stated, the leash is a Kaohi. this one is a grip leash, 8mm double coil, and it's actually 7 feet! I held off on calf leashes cause I think they are uncomfortable when kneeling, but I don't really do that anymore so it's nice switching it up. the cool thing with the grip leash is there is a handle at the board end which has helped me in some waves situations. it's a nice little tweak they have that others don't have. Roy from Board Meeting USA sent me these, but I was already using their leashes... def recommend!
