SOONER fan and fellow Harris here, and I'm certain that Vinables is the best choice to coach OU moving forward. I am uncertain about the offense. Don't know enough about the ole miss guy.

There is several hundred OU fans currently waiting for our guy to land at the airport. Brent is going to have the full support of Sooner fans. We are craving a defensively tough team and BV could be the man to bring that back. BV said it was meant to be earlier and the grin on his face was genuine. Thanks for coming home Coach!!!!!

With Brent as HC and if we can land either Lebby from Ole Miss or Joe Brady the man who took LSU to the natty as an OC. Oklahoma will be back to how they were back in their Dynasty days. Tough physical defense, hard smash mouth offense. I’m so excited we got rid of Lincoln Riley and all that weak staff he took with him.

I think it was brilliant for Oklahoma because I follow Oklahoma since they beat my Florida State for the national title in 2001 .. Venables has been a defensive guru . I play ncaa college football in since 96 so I would edit name to name on all players and coaches .. I was that much fascinating to me . I think he deserves this program because he's been there so he knows what it takes .

Brent was great at ou and even got better at Clemson. Love the higher boomer and he has beat the sec in the playoffs and knows how to recruit vs the sec. Lebby be great

I didn’t want to ever admit it when we had Riley how soft our team was but now that he’s gone let’s be honest. OU has always been good but we haven’t really been elite. Some ppl would say we have been but we haven’t been Oklahoma Elite in a long time.

I happy to see someone give assistant ls credit for winning national titles. As an example, I hate when they say Bo Schembeckler has no titles when he won all those titles as an assistant with Woody. Lane Kiffen and Steve Sark are multiple national title winners. All the players, even the 3rd stringers get a ring but we call a coach ringless, because he was an assistant, that needs to change. You are right thus dude has 3 titles.

As an OU fan, I’m excited!!! Not just for the program but also because he gives us a much needed defensive injection into the program and just in time for the SEC move!! This also may change Clemson as we know it. I want to see how Dabo responds and he separates himself from the rest like the man he’s chasing!!

He’s one of the best in the business, probably should have been a head coach if Dabo hadn’t inherited the Clemson job. His defensive lines at OU and Clemson have been some of the best ever historically. At least looking at this year you can argue there has been a drop off but maybe because of the steep fall of the offense that’s when he thought it was time to be a HC.

I suspect Dabo has known this was going to happen for a long time. If not OU now, it would be another program and soon. Venables looked at Auburn last year and saw the train wreck of an administration. Clemson will be just fine with their reputation they will get great new coaches. And Dabo is highly underrated in my opinion.

@@ridgerunner3364Clemson will be just fine. With their reputation and record, there will be excellent candidates available for all three open positions. The AD should be first of course and then the DC and OC although the AD and OC slots aren’t open yet. Just possible.

@@HB-tf5mv he's never been a coach for a team with a losing record. Kansas State was 59-13-1 when he was an assistant there. Needless to say Oklahoma and Clemson had outstanding win-loss record when he was part of the staff. He's a winner.
