I remember autograph books! They were used when we graduated out of elementary school, Junior High, and then high school. Your fellow students, family, and friends would sign them, write a quote or a poem etc... for each graduation, and maybe put money in them. I think I'm going to start that trend with my younger grandchildren for it has faded over the years. Yes, I'm going to make autograph books. Thanks, Pam for the memories.

Found mine recently when i moved. 62 years ago from grade school. Such silly things written in it. Ready made me laugh. Not sure todays youth would appreciate it now. We all had them back in the day. At the end of school, almost like a year book. Thanks for the memories. 🤗💜

When I was leaving grammar school; graduating to go to high school, we bought autograph books that we handed out to our classmates to sign and leave encouraging messages in. That was in the mid 90's. It was great fun, and a way to get phone numbers and addresses of friends you wanted to stay in touch with after the school year was over. With everyone going to different high schools, we would never be together at one school again. The thought of autograph books bring back sweet memories . . . .

Loved this, Pam. Reminded me of a Beautifully decorated (on the outside) journal I bought for my daughter's 40th, so that everyone could write their wishes/ comments inside but also had a Polaroid camera (a friend loaned but also a great Bday gift, one that takes small pix,), and took a picture with the person and glued it next to the writing. This was 3 yrs ago and she still remembers it..now, I'd just make the journal, thx to all your tutorials.

This brings back memories of the autograph books we had for 6th grade graduation. We didn't have yearbooks until junior high. That was 1979. I loved mine and still have it. I would love to try this! 😊

Pam, I learned a tip for short thread from my years of cross-stitching. When you've ran short take the thread out of the needle. Then stick the needle in until just the eye is left to go through. Put the thread back in the eye, pull through and yeah, you've got it!!! Love the booklet idea. I'm going to use it for my granddaughter's birthday booklet. Thanks Pam!!

If you cut the paper in half again - you can punch the holes and tie the pages in without the hassle of the fold. This is the advantage of this type of binding vs a pamphlet stitch through the fold. Another fun project!!!

I love the non-prototype journey. We learn from seeing the "struggle". It's more like what we will encounter in our own attempts. Pam, please don't feel like you have to hurry through something like this. We paper lovers get it, okay? If there has to be a Part 2, we're fine with that. This was a fun vid! Happy Independence Day! Keep Sunny close, so there's no panic with fireworks! So many lost dogs because of fireworks; it breaks my heart!

I watch your wild and wooly crafting ways and think to myself, "That's never going to end up looking good. She should slow down, be more careful, and not slop that distress ink spray all over like that." And then you're done, and I think to myself, "OMG, how did that turn out to be SO beautiful?" I still don't understand how it happens, even though I watch you do it. I'm thinking magic. Has to be.

Mom took her autograph book with her all the time. Living in a big city, you never know who you're going to see. Today, some people are afraid to give their legal "John Hancock" for privacy security reasons. Since I got interested in journal creation about a year ago, the autograph book concept has flitted by occasionally. Thanks for giving the idea some solid tooth.

Loved this video! I would cut the paper in half instead of folding because of the way it gets sewed, you’re not needing to go through the folded part and would be easier to keep them all straightened and easier to punch the holes. Just my thoughts, will try this and see if it’s easier and the paper lays better.

I hope it's okay to do this here. My great grandmother had an autograph from her school days. They learned poems in one-room schoolhouse, and it was a "new" kind of assignment for them to pass around their books in school, for handwriting and for choice of verses. I wrote down my favorites; they were pretty obviously children and this was their humor.

I know they won't mean much to my son, so I really should use them for something! I need to make a decision soon as I'm 82 yrs old so my junk journalling days are somewhat numbered. This is prime crafting weather - 35C degrees tonight!

This was great Pam, I can see possibly making a watercolor journal this way, but using watercolor paper, but would need to be fewer pages since that type paper are thicker than what you used. And thanks for showing all the things you don't want to do, it sure makes it easier for us. Thanks for keeping it real. I pray that you and yours are all doing well. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

I wonder if using watercolour paper (my thoughts too) it would be better to not fold them at the spine, but cut them? Or does this mean they are not held as well?

@@susanhersey9199 I'm not sure, but maybe if each signature was only 1 watercolor paper folded in half, then # of signatures would be decided by how fat you wanted your book to be. We will be able to figure it out. Take care and God bless. Becky B
