what killed me with the back tracking is that they later point out that you are stupid for walking everywhere. by later I mean the VERY VERY end. they give you a fast travel at the END of the game.

Glad you noticed the butter obsession, too. I'm surprised so few people notice/acknowledge it. Also, the newer games seem to use a lot of meta-humor. Maybe it's just me, but I'm surprised that Aku-Aku didn't just slip through the cage bars when he was captured in the beginning. You have to go find him immediately afterward, anyway.

The game is good But the Back tracking was ANNOYING And this is the ONLY PS2 GAME to have an Achievement system, makes you feel like playing on a 360 or PS3. Thanks for the review series I enjoyed some like Twinsanity and Wrath of Cortex more than the others.

This has bee such a fun and interesting series. I can't remember one review that never made me laugh. Though I do disagree for some parts, but my agreement over-weigh them. But there are some thing I do have to say in my opinion about the series. Crash Bandicoot: Might have been outdated due to its sequels but still fun and enjoyable regardless of how difficult it was. Crash Bandicoot 2: A great improvement from the first, bosses were still easy though but still fun. Crash Warped: I can understand why crash fan say "Its the best in trilogy" and I can agree with you about having too much vehicle levels but I find them enjoyable(but that's my opinion). The relic didn't bother me, except when I tried going for golden just to get a 105% completion. CTR: Man it been so long since I've played that game, was truly the best Crash kart racing game. Crash Bash: Been awhile since I've played that. The story is ok, levels are fine, some of the music in the game I find catchy and I didn't realize some of the music would remind you of mexico. Wrath of Cortex: *Sigh* The game itself was good but... *Groans* The loading was long as hell, and the vehicle level OMG don't get me started on those... Crash's Huge Adventure: Was decent, the boss music were unfitting. Crash N-Trance: A good improvement but Crunch's level just makes me want to kill myself trying to beat them. CNK: It was alright, relics weren't a pain to collect, CNK token were indeed a pain for me same goes for those arenas. Crash Purple & Spyro Orange: Wasn't the crossover I've expected it to be, moving on. Crash Twinsanity: Buggy but still funny and fun(So fun that I've played the shit out of the game until is breaks), glitches weren't a big deal for me, the Aku mask is useless when made contact to a Nitro or a TNT crate. CTTR: Platforming was indeed boring, the racing was just too easy if you're fused with another racer. The jokes are too immature, the characters themselves are well ok but for Coco... I really don't have anything to comment about her now. Crash Boom Bang: I don't even need to comment on how bad it is. Crash of The Titan: At the beginning, I've actually found that game to look awesome and I still live up to that opinion this very day but I understand your opinion and I can't say this game ruined my childhood, because it was released during my childhood. The characters were annoying sometimes, except for N.Gin, I just find him funny sometimes. Crash Mind Over Mutant: It was an improvement from Titans, the backtracking can make the game boring at some point but I honestly wasn't bothered by it. The humor was alright some scenes made me die of laughter. The game sometimes reminds me of Jak and Daxter: The precursor Legacy but minus the horrible backtracking. Again this was truly a fun series and you're definitely worth the subscription! :D

I agreee that this game is a huge improvement from Titans in gameplay and I think the new character models for Crunch and Coco are really good, also Coco's design reminds me of Kiera from Jak and Daxter a lot in this game. What i really hate about the backtracking is that when you need to collect Uka Uka's bones there's suddenly warp panels all over the world which would've been useful the first time you explored the area.

The fact that this series ended with this game made me sad I don't hate the game I kinda like it but it's pretty under whelming because of the Back tracking and it's pretty similar to Titans still a good game though and I like playing it with my friends from time to time

You don't understand why the style of the cutscenes is necessary? I don't understand why any cutscenes in any game are necessary XD At least these are varied and original.

The nintendo wii version of this game shares the same things as the xbox 360 version but you can use the wii pointer to collect mojo even if you are not on a mutant, you can also do this in crash of the titans, and that is why I say the wii versions of both these games are the best versions.

I remember skipping almost all of the game somehow and never came across half of these stages or titans or hero titans because I was so little I will find the most convoluted way of getting past crap which allowed me to skip stuff

Like you said twinsanity had a similar level setup but twinsanity reduces the backtracking by having things like the hoverpad to get up to the iceberg lab so you dont have to pmay iceclimb twice

Back when this game came out, I didn't care that it was a beat 'em up. I didn't care that it was an unashamed sequel to the weirdest Crash game I'd played up to that point. I only cared that it was a Crash game, and I fucking love Crash no matter what he's doing with his life. Breaking crates, driving karts, pounding the Viscount's head in with a fucking sledgehammer... To me, Crash was Crash, and I would accept him and his games no matter what. And I still do. I'll be honest, though - his role in Skylanders struck me as lackluster, but I would NEVER say it was bad. It was just okay. Thumpin' Wumpa Islands felt like a contrived but still very meaningful way of introducing the Bandicoot to a new, younger audience. I only wish the N Sane Trilogy was seeing a multiplatform release. You know, so everyone coming into the Crash series from the versions of Imaginators on Microsoft and Nintendo consoles DON'T have to pay $400 dollars for a new fucking console just so they can start playing a series that they might only be mildly curious about at best! This isn't just about us old-school fanboys anymore (as much as some of my fellow Crash fans out there fucking ACT like it most of the time)! Not everyone who would be interested in Crash Bandicoot necessarily owns or even grew up with any of the numerous Sony PlayStation consoles. Seriously, would it be that fucking hard to port the N Sane Trilogy to the X-Box One and the Switch? Sounds beneficial for Activision, the money obsessed producers of this remade trilogy. Seriously, why are they NOT trying to cash in on the Skylanders fans?! They've been doing that nonstop for the past SIX YEARS, so WHY suddenly stop when there couldn't be a more perfect opportunity to pull that shit with the younger, more impressionable little shits with rich parents who will readily throw money at this sort of thing just to stop the little shits from having a tantrum?! Seriously, WHAT... THE FUCK is the logic behind Activision's sudden about-face regarding their ENTIRE FUCKING MARKETING STRATEGY?! One of the best crash games I've ever played.. I actually dont mind the backtracking, it makes the places more memorable, I love taking over titans and I think the platforming normally and with the titans is really fun! :D

the cutsceans were so annoying for me when i played the psp version ages ago but this game is just its ok but i honestly dont know how i feel about this game and crash of the titans i looove how crash punches people in this game instead of spinning like in the normal crash games and i love crashes tattoos i actually want his tattoos if i ever get a tattoo lol but this game and crash of the titans just feels so so different yeah

The only reason I have to go back to this game is getting the rest of the achievements (as I have the 360 version) but even then I can't do it for the life of me.

Good review. I personally agree that it's just an okay game. I did enjoy getting it for christmas because it was a huge improvement over Titans. It was kind of cool seeing all the characters and their living spaces after years of conflict. Like N. Gin living by himself no longer with Cortex and Nina in public school, getting what she deserved after the last game. There was something about that aspect the open world allowed that made it more enjoyable for me. It felt like a fusion of Twinsanity and the Titan formula.

So weird to think that this came out after Uncharted 1. This should've come out on ps3 imo, no Crash games on that system sadly.

The best way to play this game, aside from the expensive Xbox 360 version, is on a smartphone with a controller using PPSSPP. On a real PSP that version has terrible performance, usually below 30 fps, but it's actually an unlocked framerate, so it just plays silky smooth 60 fps without any patches on a 4 year old smartphone. Now THAT'S mobile gaming in my opinion. Oh, and I'm surprised there were no jokes in this video about the few surprisingly adult themed voice tracks spread throughout the game. Even a reference to BDSM, lol.

I actually thought as a whole Titans and it's sequel are decent. Especially compared to some of the mediocre handheld Crash games especially Boom Bang and Crash Bandicoot Purple. Augh.

Now, I must say, I like the first 3 crash games the best. mainly because crash 3 was my first game of all time. I didn't really like this game AS MUCH, but I did like this game. it's better than titans. in this game, the mutants can jump, you can store them, you can find legendary mutants, it's free roaming, it lasts longer, the music is better. this game would be better if it wasn't crash so they didn't ruin him.

Titan looked way better and the gameplay was much better, couldn't believe this was a sequel.

I have the PSP version of this game and good FUCK is it bad. The loading screens are longer than Wrath of Cortex, the graphics are so unpolished that there's a part near the entrance of Mount Grimly where you fall through the floor. There's also no co-op but it doesn't really matter since playing games on a smart phone is all the rage. The only reason I got this version was to kill time on road trips and like Tag Team Racing, collect all the mojo until the mojo counter reaches infinity (since the game doesn't offer you much more)

Fun fact: Coco was meant to be player two but But that was scrapped, but was shown in the intro

Later in the game in the ghouly mountain shit,teleporters appear to teleport to certain spots of all 4 main hub areas like in some weird places like in the ratcicle kingdom in the middle to the center area right before you grab TK that sierra could unlock these pads a bit earlier,like this shit unlocks like waaaaay in the end when you help "uka uka" grab his bones back,this completely bull crap and another thing that you could said that the ps2 release has a crash timer that crashes the game if you play for six or more hours and thus crashing so save everywhere!!!!

One thing that I don't get it with these titans games is that people seems to love COTT but they seems to hate CMOM, because CMOM improved the game in many ways and i like that game. CMOM > COTT and CTTR

I hated this game due to excessive amounts of backtracking and not being entirely sure what I was supposed to do.

I don’t necessarily think the backtracking is a bad idea, the game wants you and the titans to level up from combat doesn’t it? I can see why some people hate backtracking though, it can be extremely repeating and turn people off the game.

I actually think that the mutants kind of felt tacked on. In Titans you had to use them because larger enemies cannot be engaged alone thus encouraging use of the jack mechanic. Here because Crash can dodge and use heavy attacks and counters it is actually possible to defeat any enemy using only Crash. I took down a giant towering mutated ape scorpion hybrid using just Crash who is the size of an ant by comparison. That's kind of pathetic. Still they made it so the mutants were required as you either needed them to solve puzzles, break down barricades, or do some sort of other objective like fighting a boss. If they weren't forced like that I could have easily beat this entire game without using a single titan.
