Like a lot of people, im going through difficult times. Visiting your kitchen takes me away from it all for awhile. I can just smell the smells coming out of your kitchen and watching you cook makes me relax. Thank you, and blessings to you and your family❤

Our tradition was doughnuts on snow days from school when I was a child...and I kept it up with my kiddos. (Made them more willing to shovel 😁) We add nutmeg to ours and shake them in a paper bag with cinnamon & sugar. Kids are grown, but if we get a good snow, I'll be making some!
It was an exciting day and a real treat when Mother would fry biscuit donuts! We ate ours with powered sugar and we LOVED them! They were just the best 😊 I sure do miss my parents, they were so good to us. Thank you Ms Lori for the walk down memory lane! Love to yall and God Bless.

Thank you so much for all your videos. ❤ I love the old fashion ways, cooking and baking are the best. I grew up on a farm. Mom, dad, and 5 sisters, and 2 brothers, one baby brother died day after he was born. Mom had a miscarriage. Lived back Dunbar PA mountains. Then dad got a job at Seven Springs. So we moved to Champion, Pa. In 1965. Mom left us all on 1974 I thinkit was. Dad raised us. Big farm house. Lots of ground. We had milk cows, horses, chickens, cats, dogs, had big gardens. 8 kids, we all had chores. We use to can over 2,000 quarts of things. Dad built a potato bin inthe basement. We filled it for winter. We always made home made in everything. Had our own bees for honey. Made butter, which was so delicious on home made bread with honey warm 😍 Was the best life ever. My granny Faye, moms mother taught me how to make home made bread. I love farm life and baking and cooking. I have 4 sons. 2 grand daughters. My dad passed away many years ago. Had work horses. Dad plowed our garden with horses. Mom had gotten dementia and each year got worse. Brother had her. I ended up with her from November 2014 till she died on Dec 24th 2017. 😢 Was very hard on me. Taking care of her till she passed. Brought me down mentally and physically and spiritually. 😢 From all that. Then dealing with few family members. I lost the desire for cooking and baking. I just don't have energy and strength anymore. My two sons here with me are such a blessing. They help me alot. Oldest son never talks to me. God is so good though. He brought me through some real tough times. Don't know why I told all this. Ha ha. But farm life is the best life. When God is part of our daily lives. Nothing any better than he. ❤ I am 62 years old now. Work part time at my church cleaning. My youngest son does grounds keeping also at our church. Part time. But no fowl mouth, musics, or cursing. Real nice. Bless you and yours. Love your videos.
I love these donuts. I do add a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla to the milk. Our family would call them "Sinkers", because when you dunked them in coffee, if you held it too long, it would break off and sink to the bottom of the cup. Thanks for the reminder Miss Lori.

I used to make homemade cake doughnuts because we didn’t usually have yeast in our house, but I probably started making these at about age 11 or so. This brings back memories and I would love to make some for Christmas
I always made a breakfast egg and sausage casserole, fruit slush and cinnamon rolls for Christmas breakfast. My son has carried on that tradition with his family. He lives in California so I'm never there but he does send me a picture. 😊

They seem like a great cake doughnut. I'll be trying them. Here in Ohio, our winters are long and cold. Those would be perfect on a dreary Saturday morning. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family. Much love!

Henry jones invented self raising flour in the UK in 1845. He was a baker, he wanted to help the sailors in the navy. The only bread product they could keep on board ship was hard tac. He wanted them to have more options. It took a while to convince the navy it would work and be worth it.
@@WhippoorwillHoller I love that quite a few British inventions came out of people trying to help soldiers. Did you know the 1st plastic surgery was created by a British surgeon to help soldiers with burns and other injuries in 1917 with the 1st World War.
I had a step grandmother who we called grandma doughnuts. She made the biggest and best dooghnuts. I was just a young kids when she was alive. I wish her recipe had been handed down. They were big and crispy. Great memories. Thank you for your recipe, I will be making them. Merry Christmas to and your family.

We're having brunch for Christmas at my daughter and son-in-law. Absolutely love watching your videos the last few weeks and I've copied down more recipes daily. I'm making all kinds of those dry mixes. I'm still canning I got 10 lb of potatoes canned on Monday and still have 10 lb to go. Love gardening although at 80 years old it's getting a little bit hard on me. ❤

I was a little kid in the 60s & my best friend Julie's mom would take cheapo (not flakey layer) canned biscuits & take them out of the can & let them get room temp. She let Julie & I pat them out to the size of regular hamburger buns. Then, take the red plastic lid of a milk jug to punche the hole out. About 4 inches of oil would fry the doughnuts & holes. Sometimes, it was cinnamon sugar or a glaze of powered sugar with a drop of vanilla milk or maple syrup/ powered sugar. I hadn't thought of that in years! Thanks for the memories!❤ And, I just happened to have a rare can of canned biscuits in the fridge. To a sweet, starved kid, it's manna from heaven!
That brings back memories! My mom was was a struggling single mother while I was young, money was beyond tight but every once in a while we would make homemade doughnuts or candies, such a wonderful treat it was! I hope you and your family have a very blessed Christmas ❤

This reminds me so much being at my Grandma's house....she would fry donuts every now and then and roll them in powdered sugar...they were so good and brings back such a special memory! I love how you bring back the old ways!! Love you guys so much!!! Hugs from Kentucky!
Brings back great memories of my Mom making them for us as kids. I'm 72, so that was a while, ago!! Thank you for sharing with us. God bless you and yours🙏🙏❤️

We grew up in the 1960s/70s eating fried beignets made with Pioneer Biscuit Mix. There was a recipe for fried donuts on the box and my mother, with 7 kids and always aiming for the simple and quick, would just cut squares out of her rolled-out dough. Like you did, we'd cover them in confect sugar and cinnamon-sugar. But they were absolutely wonderful dipped in room-temp Louisiana cane syrup. Oh my, you're taking me back. Merry Christmas, Browns!!

For a little change up from plain cake, I add a box of Jiffy blueberry muffin mix to a double batch of donut mix. Mix it in well before adding the liquid to desired consistency. Fry like normal and glaze. Viola ... blueberry cake donuts. Eat them while drinking hot cocoa. Yum!! Thank you for all that you put into your videos. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

The past few years I have been making an overnight French toast casserole but this year I have been thinking of making a more savory breakfast for Christmas. I think I will try making these to go with it for a sweet treat. When I was growing up there was this beautiful older woman who would make old fashioned donuts every Sunday morning and sell them from her front door till they were gone. They were my favorite Sunday treat for after church. Thanks for the wonderful memory.

❤I think I finally know the Answer to a ? I'VE had Since I was a Young Child!! My Mom Always made Yeast Doughnuts!! OH MY! But We had a Wonderful little ole Neighbor Lady who Always had the little doughnuts like you see NOWDAYS in lil 6 packs or bags & cost a fortune, but I knew they were HOMEMADE!❤ AND HERE YOU HAVE SHOWN ME THE RECIPE AFTER THESE YEARS! Bless Your Big Sweet Heart, Miss Lori !! God Bless and You All take Care!! Again Thank You!❤
When we were kids we would take can biscuits, put a hole in the middle with our fingers & mom would have the grease hot so we dropped them in the hot grease & flip them over. Once they were done we put them in a paper bag with sugar or powder sugar. Sometimes brown sugar! They were so good! Blessings❣️❣️

I couldn’t love this anymore ❤. My birthday is Tuesday and my husband made me my favorite tonight for supper. Biscuits and chocolate gravy 😍😍😍. Found your channel today and really enjoyed watching your recipes
They look absolutely delicious! I love sour cream donuts and Krispy Kreme white icing filled is my all time FAVORITE! Duncan Donuts used to be my favorite but now they don't cook their donuts fresh! They have them shipped in to thaw! We owned a family bakery/cake shop for over 50 years and I still would rather have a Krispy Kreme or a fresh sour cream donut! 😆 I know that your family is so very happy to have your yummy donuts! Sending you so much love and prayers! God bless you and Merry Christmas!🙏❤💥🎄

We are going to have brunch at my daughter and son-in-law's again this year. My daughter always makes cinnamon rolls. When I saw your post from War Eagle I had a good laugh. Last time we were there a goose decided it had it in for my daughter and chased her all over the place. My folks lived in Rogers south of the hospital. Their home backed up to a farm and we would go out to the fence and feed them apples out of our hands. Many many good times in Arkansas!!! I'm still writing down as many of your recipes as possible. ❤

Thank you Mrs Lori for the prayers for my daughter she on a lot of IV steroids should regain her vision in her eye,but she was diagnosed with MS not to move forward with treatment.please keep her in your prayers ♥️ might have to make her some of these donuts take to hospital.yummy
YESSSSS girl! Krispy Kreme is everything. We have Christmas breakfast as well. We don't do a big dinner it's just brunch all day as well as some appetizers in the evening. Just a nibbling kind of day. I'm adding this to my menu. I was raised down south and these people in Ohio up here think that dunkin' donuts is a donut. I'm sorry that's cake. LOL I'm really glad they finally have a couple locations up here around Cincinnati but it's not like the 24-hour ones I grew up going to. And I cannot believe the price they pull in per dozen! But now I know that these donuts must be good if you like Krispy Kreme and you make this recipe.
My grandmother always made huge pots of ham & bean soup(made with canned tomatoes) with loaves of fried dough. The dough for soup dipping is salted, but the dessert ones are sugared. I’m the only one left who knows how to make them. I can the soup up, then just make dough to fry. EVERYONE fills up on the dough before the soup can even cook down! Been that way since I was a kid.
@@WhippoorwillHoller my mom had 2 sisters & 3 brothers. Family gatherings were always huge. I can’t share the recipe bc I only know how to make canner loads of soup.😂There’s only 3 of us in my family, I still make the whole stock pot full in January. We freeze 1/2 our Christmas ham, then I get a ham hock & start the process. It cooks all day. I make up baskets of soup & fried dough & we share it with friends & neighbors.
I also think peanut oil is the best to fry in it gives everything a good flavor. My mother in law taught me how to cook and she was a fabulous cook. I remember she always used Crisco and lard in a box. I'm sure that's why it was so good. 😍 thank you for your videos.

Bless you for sharing this with us. My father used to make doughnuts when I was a kid (many decades ago). I laughed, cried and have saved this to make for Christmas Eve. God bless y'all and Merry Christmas.
Thank you for sharing this. I'd much rather have these than all the boxes of store bought donuts combined. I usually like to roll the little donut holes in some glaze in a small bowl and serve 'em up right in that. 😋 ❤

Love this one. Our time for the homemade donuts was not at Christmas time it was when we were snowed in. We lived back about a half mile long lane and about once a year sometimes a couple years if we got lucky we got really snowed in usually the drifting snow. But homemade and popcorn too were our treats.

My Fav is the Glazed, fluffy donuts. They let us grab one once in a while, where I work, but I don't abuse it. OH, and I get one way past donut 'rush hours'. lol -Minnesota 'Kind'ness.
