Nice setup! I use my Old Hickory every day, usually for whittling or cooking. Slices extremely well, and whittles amazingly. I put epoxy on the handle gaps and rivets to prevent water / food / animal blood from getting stuck under the handle scales. I also sanded my handles smooth, first with 320 grit, then 600, and finally up to 800 grit. They feel amazing now. I also had a premium custom leather sheath made for it. It’s made from thick 10oz leather, dark brown, double stitched, wet-formed, and cost like 10 times what the knife itself cost xD but it’s worth it, since this knife is so great!
I use an Old Hickory Butcher Knife in a Ka-Bar leather sheath every time I go into the woods. It is my pack knife. I carry a forged carbon Bush knife by Jeff White on my hip, which is a very capable Bushcraft knife. But I always seem to pull out that Old Hickory for a lot of camp chores and food prep. - Tennessee Smoky
It kind of has the feel of a short, thick machete. Definitely not what many folks are used to when compared to most of the super-beefy survival & bushcraft knives you see on the market these days. Still, it will work great for some & the price is hard to beat. Thanks for watching!
