beautifully done! ten out of ten. im from the dingle and my grandad was a tram driver!making it even sweeter!thanks for posting it.[ p.s. tom b the piece is the lark ascending.]...much love
Lovely pictures. I lived in Livingston Drive in the 1970s. Brought some great memories back - even if most of the pictures are a lot older than my time there. The Fairy Glen is the watercourse immediately below The Dell Bridge, near the Queens Drive roundabout though, not the watercourse that comes out of The Grotto and had The Jolly Roger in it.
I was born in the woman's hospital after my mum fell on the steps of the bombed out church we lived in caryl street off parliament street ( 1951 ) still visit the area love it still feels like home 68 years on .
wow this was really nostalgic for me.. especially St. Cleopas church where I and my children were christened, and the school where my mum went. Also, Beloe Street in 1951.. seeing Blackledges the cake shop where my nan used to go. I also noticed on the posters outside the shop in Penny Lane was one saying 'Titanic sinks' I really enjoyed it.
What a beautiful creation Bravo and the music so evocative. Only Liverpool could produce such a wonderful video. Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams the violinist sounds like Tasmin Little? Thank you so much.
Someone has already remarked that a poster in Penny Lane---at 2.05 refer's to the Titanic sinking. Thought it best to bring it to the fore again, as nobody else seems to have noticed it. Great images.
As Scouse kids we had the reputation of being 'larrikins' but there was no knifing or shooting people then....so sad to see what has become of modern working class areas in most cities now! These photos are strong reminders of the true communities we had then..... caught 'being naughty' as a kid on the streets then and anyone could give you a clip around the ear and your parents knew about it by the time you got home!
Yes mayanchild I remember Park Rd Great place to shop employing Hundreds of people Then the planners Demolished the area and left it like that for years . I had a shop near the bottom near the OverHead Station .. and the people where the Salt of the Earth
Prince Edwin street is not in south Liverpool! its just off Netherfield Road and Great Homer Street! sylvester street is off Scottie and Vauxhall Road all North Liverpool
No the shop shown in Penny Lane isn't Rimmers, my wife used to own Penny Lane Cakes next door, the shop shown is on the other side just a little up the hill
