Southern Alberta's famous Old Man River. This river has its headwaters in the rocky mountains & makes it way thru the prairies where it eventually meets up the the North Saskatchewan River & proceeds towards Hudson's Bay.
This area is known for its deposit of Ammolite which is a fossil type gemstone. There have been reports of Garnets & flour Gold being found also. It was a good trip & I even got to see some painted turtles in the nearby wetlands.

In the thumb nail for this video it shows a big gravel and sand operation going on within the inside bend area of that part of the river. I’m pretty certain those guys running that operation are recovering plenty of flour gold as a byproduct with that sizeable operation. Just a guess.

You are kind of good in your prospecting but the flour gold in Alberta is float gold it will be most likely be in the top 2 inches. You have dug below those 2 inches . you should think of trenching the top 2-4inches perpendicular to the river to locate the pay streak spacing the trenches about 10 feet apart . You want to dig nothing less than 150 colors per pan . That will maybe get you a gram in a day

Thanks for the info, I think as you dig down you could encounter different layers of float gold but that ends up being alot of work...
