Hey guys, found some problems with the race car - so I bought the Autool CT200 injector cleaner and went to town. Got all the injectors cleaned up, and the race car is going back together!
I have the 150 machine for 4 injectors. I have ID 2000cc and i notice same thing with the pressure drop. I was told my ID to Backflow them with gasoline and ultrasonic clean them.. I also add some seafoam in the mix.. Seems to work very well!! In the future i may rig an external reservoir and a higher volume pump and a filter to help with the big injectors.. I have had sticking issues with my injectors before, had to send them off to have cleaned... for $300 this machine works pretty good! Gives you something to measure off of as a relative number to each injector! I also learned to NOT use carb cleaner on injectors, it make one of mine lock the poppet up. Had to blow air back thru the injector to break it loose.. brake cleaner is ok tho. There's my 2 cents!! Love the video!!
I also have the 150, definitely doesn't hang with large injectors. I can see it being useful if I need to clean them in the future from using e85. I plan on running normal gasoline most of the time so may not need to though.
@Alex I've got the same injectors as you, and when i try to backflush them it blows the big o-ring down out of the adapter every time as soon as i start it and fluid sprays everywhere. This didnt happen to you?
A buddy of mine has a mobile injector service and said his primary clients were race guys running E85...We used to run the methanol sprint car engine empty then run a 1/2 gallon of strait pump gas thru it leaving just enough to keep the lines wet.
I'm mildly skeptical how about how much difference it's going to make cleaning the injectors, but it had to be done i suppose. I'll know more tomorrow!
Just to see how precise the machine is it would be interesting to move the inner injectors to to outer position and vice versa or even more interesting to take all the 90 injectors and run them together and see if they still produce the same result. Very intesting, if the machine produces consistent results I would get one too. Oh one more question: why does the pressure gauge not show any pressure? Greetings Bernhard
I have done just that, and moved injectors around. Very similar results. I thought I mentioned it, but the big injectors drink the pump dry, it just cant keep up
diy_garage_tx Thanks, I am interested in that machine because I am restoring and converting a Jaguar V12 engine to Fuel injection and want 12 injectore as previse as possible and I want to see if those deviate from the manufacturers data (I am not sure if manufacturing data are average production numbers). So if your tester is very precise I can enter the deviation into the ECU controller software and get much better data before hitting the Dyno for finetuning. Greetings Bernhard
Btw., my injectors are rather small 180cc/min for a 5.3Liter 12Cylinder engine. At least that is what I came up with calculating flow requirements. Where would you need a 1000cc/min injector?
diy_garage_tx Ok, makes sense, mine is just around 300HP (Classic Jaguar E-Type) and I have to pay attention to get a good idle speed too. If I get big injectors the opening time will slide into the unstable range (overlap of electric OFF but mechanical opening not yet completed) Greetings Bernhard
@K Sk You should of been using Techron Marine every tank e85 and no problems. I know tons of guys running e85 for years and zero issues. So i guess you know more than those guys do😆😆😆😆
@K Sk I meant look up Alejandro Flores on here. He uses e85 in both his fast street cars no issues. Look him up moron. And look up vmp performance and stangmode. They all use e85 and no issues. Look em up. Techron Marine is the best too. I use 2 ozs every fill up
Look up all those other guys dumbass. And its not $10 a tank idiot. I buy 120 ounces for $70 on Amazon. Big jug of Techron Marine. I use 1.5 ounces per tank of e85. Very cheap insurance and not $10 a tank. You are stupid
@K Sk One 128 oz jug techron Marine lasts 85 tank fills at 1.5 ounces per fill up. 1.5 ounces services 15 gallons e85. But i always have residual Techron Marine in tank cause i fill up at 1/4 tank every time.
I just got the 4 injector version, CT150. Interesting there is no traditional fuel pressure regulator with the system. The fuel pump is plumbed right to the fuel rail. I've taken it apart to see how it works. The computer modulates the current going to the fuel pump to set a fuel pressure. Default is 50% duty cycle. The "+" and "-" keys are used to increase or decrease the fuel pressure, while it is running, by essentially increasing or decreasing the fuel pump speed. Running (4) 80lb siemens injectors, at the high speed setting (3.1 ms, 7500 rpm) it can almost maintain 45 psi. I need to add a fluid filled pressure gauge to dampen the oscillations. FYI, there are 2 injector drivers that are out of phase with each other, like bank1 and bank2 injector drives. So at any given time, 2 injectors fire at the same time. This helps minimize fuel rail pressure oscillations, but not as good if it were fully sequential.
Do you lay the injectors down when cleaning them in the ultrasonic cleaner? It's got the tray so you can stick them in there vertical... But if laying them down works better I'd rather do it that way.
@@diygaragetx yep... I'm trying them that way on my last 2. Unfortunately as great as the tool is, it doesn't come with everything needed to do 4 of my 8 injectors at a time... Only 2. So I'm just doing each set per cylinder.
No friend . I own a shop and order one that last three days. I order a second one and before start cleaning , it begun leaking. This machine are great but the issue is leaking.
Hi mate, did you have any issues back flushing on the machine with these injectors? I've got the same injectors as you and the CT-150, and when i try to backflush them it blows the big o-ring down out of the adapter every time as soon as I start it and fluid sprays everywhere. Did this ever happen to you?
I cleaned my injectors with a rubber tube duct tape and a can of carb cleaner. 5 out of 6 worked fine and saw nothing come out of them and the color of the cleaner was clear so I doubt I did any good for them and one was beyond cleaning could not get it to click or anything just have to buy one new injector. maybe one of these machines would have fixed that one injector but 35$ for a new one
@@diygaragetx Is it possible to do a couple at a time with success? I have 3 1000cc and 6 2000cc, but wouldnt mind doing pairs to get them done on a cost effective machine.
@@seanflynn4901 the low volume of the pump isn't the real problem. The vials won't hold near what my 220's can do on any of the tests, much less at full pressure. I simply run the "high speed" test which is only 1500 cycles at 3ms, I believe
So what issues were you having while driving with the dirty injectors? Were you experiencing anything like boost cut or fuel cut at high rpms? Did you use an inline fuel filter before the fuel rail? Good video.
@@diygaragetx what about just running wd40? I used it for comparing my injectors, before realizing the machine couldn't keep up. You can get it by the gallon at hardware stores.
K Sk Idk what you’re talking about but E85 is a great fuel for boosted engines like my LSX. Been running it for a few months and no issues. I drive often to keep fuel moving and I use Klotz fuel lube to lubricated the pumps. There’s tons of other guys using E85 on a similar application with no issues. If anything is crap it’s junk 93 which has no detonation suppression abilities
K Sk that’s why I got me a flex fuel sensor so I can run some gas through and clean the system or (pickle) it. All I’m arguing is that it’s not trash fuel

I have the 4 injector version of that, the 150. While it may be useful for cleaning injectors, it definitely won't hang with larger ones for testing. My 2000cc injectors were dropping pressure way too low.
I'm just wondering if I should buy a ct160 or a ct200. if one has a bigger pump than the other. I have a v8 twin turbo car around 2000 rwhp . Has the Holley 220lb injectors. Like to buy one of these to check em regularly. A healthy injector is important.
Yes I do, still use it regularly. Same as before, if you're using for big injectors, it'll run the pump down to 0 pressure, but hasn't been a hindrance yet.
@@diygaragetx thanks for the quick reply. The pump is not a big deal that can be easily upgraded though i am only using 78lb/hr injectors. I worry about the electronics failing mostly. the accuracy seems consistent which is good.
@@frozenstang3868 no problem. With those injectors it will work fine. I have 220's that I clean 4 at a time, and I have a pretty good idea what they do on certain tests, and thats what I use as my bench mark. Upgrading the pump would simply overfill the vials and it really won't do anything for you
@@diygaragetx Sorry for the confusion wrong words used . What i meant was if at some point the pump failed it is easy enough to replace. But if the electronics are sub par it renders the machine somewhat useless. Just nice to have some real world feedback since amazon reviews are spotty at best.

When you get done cleaning the injectors in the ultrasonic bath do you blow out the cleaner with a air compressor or do you just put it straight back in the machine and start flow testing?
@@diygaragetx Wow! I don't know if I have seen a setup like that. I can see how it would help keep the fuel charge cooler. Is that a factor in why you run that setup or is it a bigger horsepower setup that you are striving for?
@@dannywilsher4165 It could very well be overkill, but on a good day it should be able to put down close to 1400hp. The methanol does a fantastic job of bringing the air temps WAY down. In the dyno video, on 8psi boost, and the methanol barely coming on - it dropped the air temps from close to 160 down to 105ish. Just wait till it sees ALL the methanol!
I just used plain mineral spirits. They have a special fluid thats supposed to not foam (mineral spirits barely does), but its simply not worth it. The cleaning part is done with purple power and water (walmart). No special order.
@@diygaragetx actually we have two set's of the 210's we plan to flow first. If you have any tips with settings machine or best way to flow them is greatly appreciated. they are new set's. take care
@@czorr1997 the only thing you can really do is 4 injectors at a time, and only 1000 or 1500 cycles. (I think it's the "high speed" setting). The injectors will fill the tubes too fast if you do any of the timed cycles
and having invested as much money as you did on an injector cleaner ? and possibly watched many videos prior ? it never occurred to you to replace the screen ? or to turn the injectors around and back flush them to at the very least flush the screen of debri or backflush them with screen removed ? whole lot of money spent on equpment to half ass it dont ya think ? and exactly where does the E85 clogging come into play ? you never once said the injectors in your car on the dyno had x amount of miles or x amount of hours run time prior to removal ?
You are ASSuming a lot of things. The video wasn't about fully cleaning the injectors, rather it was about finding which ones were culprit with the problem I was experiencing. The first car, if you must know, was a brand new build. Only dyno time on everything before it was disassembled and moved over to this car. Both cars have a 100 micron fuel filter before pumps and a 10 micron AFTER. Nothing gets past these filters. If it must be spelled out for you, the first minute explains that the injectors sat with no fuel in them - so the only logical explanation is that the fuel was to blame - read between the lines.... Especially considering the fuel is even filtered being poured into the car. One more time, you're assuming to know something - these particular injectors don't have screens - As of this video, there was small cone shaped filters in each inlet fitting of both rails. Last but not least, before the injectors were put back into the car they were cleaned again, back flowed 2 times and rinsed. Just because it's not in the video doesn't mean anything, I don't show EVERYTHING.
