Hi rog keep up the positive thoughts and get back on those bikes soon , maybe you can fix up a big battery on your 4 wheel buggy and do some rambling 😂 regards chris
Thanks Chris much appreciated. Yes, I think a little engine would be better than a battery upgrade. It does 4mph and it's supposed to be good for about 10 miles on a charge but I wouldn't want to test it out. Cheers Rog
You have my deepest admiration for your positive resolve in moving forward with this horrendous injury. Mildly relieved that it wasn't the BSA, but that's pure selfishness on my part.
Thanks, I always like to look positively at things, doing otherwise only makes it harder to get through. It did occur to me how things could have been different as I nearly went on the BSA that morning. At around 70kg heavier than the CCM, would it have made matters better or worse? well never know😊😊 Anyway, Goldie is safe and sound in the Garage.👍👍 Cheers Rog
Good to see you're able to potter about a bit and hope you continue to make good your recovery - sending you healing vibes from sunny Sussex. Oh and don't forget to go clockwise round the table too, don't want to be getting dizzy in charge of that frame😉.
Cheers James. Funny you should mention the walking round the table bit. I realised a couple of days ago that I always walk the same way - anti-clockwise and wondered why that was. Tried it the other way and it just didn't feel right, very strange.😊😊😊
Hello Rog! I’m glad to see you are able to move about and keep everything from seizing up! You were very lucky that AL came out of it relatively okay. I must say that it’s always handy to have a mobility scooter (I use one myself) and it’s marvellous how everyone is rallying around to help out. It’s good to see your updates, and maybe you might consider telling biking stories from your past, as I have done on my channel from time to time. As you might be aware I often have odd periods when I can’t make a ride out video, so I do a garage or conservatory chat video instead, as it stops me going crazy, and some folk find my rambling entertaining. (I have no idea why.) Anyway, keep warm, eat really good grub, and remember we here in RU-vid land are rooting for you to recover quickly. If there’s anything we can do to help, just give me a shout.
Thanks Steven, yes, the support from the RU-vid community has been quite overwhelming. Never had a mobility scooter as never needed one before but this is going to be a game changer for me. Initially just getting about at the hospitals for out patient appointments, but later, being a bit more ambitious. The wife is an absolute brick and looking after me so no problem with good food etc. I'll give some thought to other video subjects, it certainly works for your channel and yes, you can be very entertaining with your chats 😂😂 Cheers Rog
Thanks for the update Rog. What an inspirationally positive attitude you have . No doubt it will aid you in your recovery. Good luck & best wishes to you.
Thanks for the kind comments Kevin, much appreciated. It will be a long slow journey and thinking positively is the best way to get through it. Cheers Rog
Good to hear all is on track mate. Astonished by how little damage was done to the CCM. Good luck and look forward to the next update. Keep your strength up too during all the sitting around. Very important. Use it or lose it. 👍
Cheers Andrew. Yes, the CCM came off very well. The regular exercise and walks are having a slow but steady effect and I can see improvement. Cheers Rog
Sorry to hear of your accident only just got back in to watching RU-vid.speedy recovery and look forward to you customising the mobility scoot. All the best.
Thanks Tony, hope your enjoying all the RU-vid content, there's a lot of good stuff out there. Now if the scooter belonged to me I'd certainly be doing a bit of customisation 😂😂😂 Cheers Rog
Glad you're starting to get up and mobile. I'll keep watching your back catalogue, brilliant stuff. I wondered if you were wearing full length boots and if that made no difference? Stay chipper xx
Thanks, glad you like the videos. I was wearing proper, good quality, leather motorcycle boots that come about 6 to 8 inches above my ankle but as the impact was about half way up my lower leg I don't think they would have had much effect. Cheers Rog
Good to see you are in a positive mood (was going to say frame of mind😂), try & keep it up. Don’t know how you manage to sleep with the contraptions you have had fitted. Best wishes, Martin.
Thanks Martin, the 'frame of mind' bit made me laugh 😂😂😂 Sleeping is probably the most awkward bit as I can only do it on my back and have my leg elevated but I usually manage a reasonable night, albeit in 3 or 4 bites. Cheers Rog
So happy I stumbled across your channel when your review of the BSA Goldstar 650 popped up in my feed. Immediately watched a few more of your videos so, hey, why not subscribe? 😄 I love your Spitfire bobber (Al, is it?) and your positive outlook. Bought my first bike in 1968 (a 1962 Honda 150), currently ride a Bonnie and an RE Meteor, and your videos inspire me to keep riding as long as I can. All the Best from Kentucky!
Hi Pete and thanks for subscribing to the channel. I've a couple more motorcycle rambles to post that were shot before my accident then it'll be a little while before new rides appear, till I'm back on two legs again 😂😂 Glad you're enjoying my posts anyway. You've been riding as long as me (since 1968) so obviously have the same love for it as I do. Keep riding as long as you can. Cheers Rog
Keep going mate i was knocked off my bike in 2008 by a women in a BMW coming out of a junction. Broke my ankle in 3 places and a rib, spent quite a while in hospital and like you recovery was long winded. It was getting back on my bike that kept me going, chin up it won't be long before your bimbling again.
Thanks for the support Ian, its good to hear from people that have been through similar trauma. It does help to have a goal and getting back out on the motorcycle rambles again will drive me forward. Cheers Rog
I’m surprised you can even get about with all that scaffold on your leg. Keep positive and good luck with your recovery. I hope all goes well and you are back on it soon
Thanks Andrew 👍 Yes, it is a bit cumbersome and is taking some getting used to, but it will allow me to walk on it eventually so I should gain more mobility as things progress. Cheers Rog
Good to hear the update, that leg frame is a fantastic invention to allow you to move around. Keep up the exercises and your be back before you know it. We are all rooting for you and best wishes👍
Thank you so much Martin its good to have support like this. Every time I look down at my leg I can't help thinking want a great bit of kit this is. Bulky, uncomfortable and heavy but being able to walk on it (eventually) will be great and they say its far better than plates or rods as the bone heal naturally. Anyway, onward and upwards. Cheers Rog
thank you so much for a more informational video. as a physical therapist i know the injury well and all the apparatus that is around the leg is very familiar. the good thing is, its on your leg, not your head! then we call it a Halo! embrace the suck as it comes. keep up your spirits and keep with your daily activity as that will pay off more then anything. eat food that can help recovery too! little to no sugar and gluten products. sugar bad!
Thanks Blake, you're one of the few people I've come across so far that know about these frames. Yes, the daily exercises and little walks are paying dividends as I can actually feel things slowly improving. The wife is an ex nurse so she's making sure I get the right nutrition and exercise 😂😂 Cheers Rog
You would be well advised to benchmark the videos / vlogs of one of your own countrymen, a gentleman who talks very fondly about royal Enfield motorcycles. Pl see who he starts his videos, his choice of music, content and how it ends. It’s worth benchmarking for reference. There is a reason why he has such an huge following. All the best.
Hi, I've just seen your video, I'm sorry to hear of your accident, as we get older our love of motorcycles become more enjoyable, I have a little channel here in France and being out on the bike is very relaxing, stay positive and a speedy recovery.....Colin 😊
@@old-n-Goldie Hi Rog, keep the updates coming we're all behind you, I had a similar injury as you but way back in my late teens, we seemed to heal quicker in those days, take care ......Colin 😊
Hiya Rob, hope all is progressing in the right direction for you. Just read the below about parking, and thought you might know better about it. Maybe an interesting topic to do a video on the subject, also stateing if Wardens can give Tickets for parking in the wrong place. The text I read was, "You can't park on the pavement, except in some places where you can. You can't park in resident bays, except in some places where you can. You can't park in council car parks, except in some places where you can. The system, such as it is, is as structured and well organised as Boris's hair on a breezy day". Certainly might/could be of use to me for my visit to UK in July. Take care, greets S.
Sorry to hear about your predicament, you must have taken quite a whack. People are in such a rush nowadays, most of us bikers survive on luck as much as skill.
Thanks, yes the poor old leg took the full force of the hit unfortunately. With everybody today wanting to get around as fast as possible, I always ride as if they're all out to kill me, but there's still situations like this that you just don't see coming. It certainly is down to luck, or lack of it, at times. Cheers Rog
Hi Nick, thanks for asking. Progressing slow but steady. Thanks to the excellent Physios at Doncaster Infirmary I'm getting a bit more mobile now and even starting to get out and about a little with assistance. Planning on meeting some friends for lunch at a cafe tomorrow so we'll see how that goes. The pain is not too bad and is manageable with the medication and just something I'm living with. Hopefully over time it will reduce. I see improvements and that keeps me positive so just plodding on and taking it steady. Cheers Rog
Hi Peter, thanks for your comment, much appreciated. Progressing slow but steady and getting more mobile now. Having weekly physio which is helping a lot and I'm now able to get out and about a bit with the help of the wife and my electric buggy. It'll be a long slow process but I'm making good progress and its great to get these messages of support, they help a lot. I'm almost at the stage where I can get upstairs to my editing computer so hoping to do another short update video for the channel in the next couple of weeks, possibly of one of my trips out and about on the buggy. Not exactly a motorcycle ramble but it'll be a bit different😂😂. Cheers Rog
@@old-n-Goldie that's wonderful news Rog. I know we're all looking forward to hearing from you and it'll be great having a run out with you on the buggy. Take care and best wishes for your continued recovery.
Hi Rog, not much more I can say, or add to what's been said in other comments here. I would like to have seen more damage on Al, and less on you, because Al would have been the quicker mend, and the other guy's Insurance would have paid for it. Main thing now is to keep up with all excercises, and keep your brain and hands occupied... helps make the recovery time pass quicker! Swiss greets, S.
Thanks Steve, much appreciated. Yes, Al could have stepped up a bit and helped me out but it happened so quickly neither of us saw it coming 😂😂😂 The regular exercises are helping a lot and I do feel more mobile now. Slow and steady. Cheers Rog
Thanks Robert, its good to be able to move around a bit. The tanks fine, its just a trick of the camera. There's a dish moulded into the tank on both side at the front to clear the fork legs on full lock. Cheers Rog
Great to see ya . I was woundering how you was going on . Keep your chin up Rog we all have mishaps but we all get over them. Car drivers should be educated when it comes to bikes . They dont look and even when they do they dont see us ???? One stuipid moron pulled out on me and said that she hadnt seen me . Bull. Head lamp on. Hi viz police jacket . Lime grean helmet whats not to see. Take care mate we are all with you brother. I still get nervious when i see cars aproaching side roads .
Thanks a lot, much appreciated. I know I'll get there slow and steady 🐢🐢. Everyone is in so much of a hurry these days, I always ride like there all out to get me but you can still get situations like this where they appear out of nowhere. Cheers Rog
Don’t you dare start stripping that scooter you’ll have it going 100mph 😂😂 ps great to see you at weekend & we’ll all have to come get drunk when you can drink again mate
Cheers Rob, you three certainly cheered me up on Sunday, and did a couple of chores 😂😂😂 Well, you saw the stash of rum waiting for us, that's something to look forward to. Cheers mate Rog
