I worked here as the station master till July 2006. Nice place. Nostalgic seeing this vid.

This station is straight out of Malgudi Days...

Every such old buildings of Indian Railways are worth watching. Their waiting rooms were also having good classic furniture. Big chairs to get relaxed, very big mirrors. And on small stations, there used to be very very silent atmosphere. It was really a good time to travel in old times of railways.

There is another railway station like the same located at Achalpur in Amravati district. It was also started by the Britishers in 1913. There were nearly three narrow gauge railways started by the British in CP & Berar region i.e. Achalpur to Murtizapur, Arvi to Pulgaon and Yeotmal to Murtizapur. Murtizapur was the main railway station which was located on broad gauge line connecting to Bombay. Bombay was the main porter from where the Britishers used to carry the Indian goods like cotton, teakwood spices etc to their own country. That's why they established narrow gauge railways specially in Vidarbha because it was famous for cotton and teakwood. At the beginning, they used railways for carrying goods like cotton and teakwood during 1913 to 1916. Thereafter they started carrying people of the rural areas for there were no means of transport. This is a short view of history of the narrow gauge British railways.

Lovely! As I always say, if the govt. truly had any intention, it could turned this place into a heritage tourist spot with cafeteria, small cottages and other hospitality facilities, and make it part of the tourism industry. The railways could also generate some revenue through such a measure. But alas! the railways is in a perpetual state of budget constraint. Anyway, what was the plantation around the place? Coffee?

Its not meter gauge track,it is narrow gauge,All meter gauge tracks are converted to broad gauge teack,arvi- pulgaon,mutijapur-yavatmal track being NG track government have not yet taken decision on gauge conversion,so now the train service is closed.

Such a beautiful place but due our negligence we are loosing our wonderful heritage and past. At least local people should take care of it and make some fence and restore it. So that our new generation get a glimpse of that time. Salute to all those employees. Jai hind Jai bhart

Very nice video. It seem that it's narrow-gauge line not metre gauge line. However I am thankful to you for uploading vdo. Narrow-gauge railways is heritage railway of the India. Probably all narrow-gauge railways are 100 years old. So it is our duty that we should preserve it as national property.

This MG station seems to be closed. I remember station having similar structure on exiting BG line ies Jaisinghpur on kolhapur-miraj route. Jaisinghpur station is slightly of large size. In those days Engineer might have designed similar structures for ease. Thanks.
