Steven takes a look at his choices for his Top 10 video games he has ever played. Took a lot of thought, took a lot of work - and so as to be expected - has a lot to say.
All footage captured by me.
Editing nightmare for this one. A couple of weeks delayed with video editor issues, and the final video quality has taken a blow in the process, but finally got it at least completed!... Argh.
Intro music by Hyperduck Soundworks.

1: Resident Evil 4 2: Dino Crisis 2 3: Diablo 2 4: Alien Isolation 5: Super Mario 64 6: Chrono Cross 7: Timesplitters 2 8: Ico 9: Ori and the Blind Forest 10: World of Warcraft Okay that was difficult and had to edit it because I forgot a game until I saw someone else post it. Timesplitters 2 below. Countless hours with friends. Dino Crisis 2 wow nice taste. It was the first game I speedrun. I used to run it every sunday as a child. I don't know why. I was so compelled by it. I started beating in just a few hours. I was about 7 years old at that time, and it really entranced me and captured my imagination. I would run around outside shooting imaginary dinos. I would reenact the underwater level in the pool.

Greetings comrade :) First of all, a great vid as always :D But i'd also like to recommend you Spec Ops: The Line. I know its title may trick you into thinking that it is just a generic run-and-gun shooter or something, and indeed, the first minutes into the game make it look like it actually is that kind of game. But believe me, it's not. It has one of the best, if not the best, stories i've ever seen in a video game, stressing the issues of PTSD, the brutality of war etc. And it also "parodies" the way other shooters want you to feel like: a hero, the good guy of the story. I will not delve further into more details, i just wanted to recommend you that specific game, because it isn't only a great and brutal gaming experience, but it also changed the way i see other games of the genre and video games in general.

IGfunGR I was recommended Spec Ops: The Line by a viewer (on my non-gaming channel) a while back and did end up buying it. Never actually got around to properly playing it through, because at the time I was playing a few things, but what I did play was good (gameplay wise), and I have heard very promising things concerning the story. Will make sure to put the time into playing it properly.

I've played through the Mass Effect games so many times.... And I'm the sort of player who usually only plays a singleplayer game once... There's got to be like half a dozen games I've played many times the ME, Fallout and Half-Life series is in them. I agree with your top 3 for sure!

INCOMING LONG COMMENT!! No witty humour this time. I'm feeling kind of loopy so I might ramble. The only game on this list I've played is Skyrim and I've heard of only some of these games. I don't intend to put down, (Or put up??) your likes or mine with this comment. I'm a blunt guy, I say whatever I feel, it usually just gets me hateful looks and stuff thrown at me in real life, but I won't lie to spare overly sensitive feelings. I'm not into any of the games I've seen here. A lot of games you love seem to be shooters, which I've barely played any of myself. The most shooting I've done is a few Medal of Honour's my brother had for PS2. Usually shooters are just mindless killfests, but if Mass Effect has more to it like you've said, I might look into it. A lot of these games are extremely dark as well, I'm sensing a pattern here. I don't hate dark games myself, I actually hate overly positive games because they usually detach any sort of realism, as though you're stuck in a, "Super Happy Fun Land" that isn't happy at all. Where it's all about, "SAVE WORLD, EVERYONE HAPPY, GOODNESS IS GOOD!! DON'T MIND THE COMPLETELY HYPOCRITICAL WAY WE DO THINGS AND OUR HORRIBLE ATROCITIES!! JUST DO AS WE SAY!". As though no one can die. Morally deprived and feels like a mind controlled setting, kind of like Disney. From what you've said about Fallout, it feels a bit like that, especially with that 50's art style smiling sociopathic kid used as your icon. It might just be my history, but I don't think I'd like any of these games, space games always remind me of Star Wars and its, "Give up your feelings for the force. Don't feel anything or be a crazed killer with either Jedi or Sith." (I love Ratchet and Clank 2 and 3 though) and extremely dark games just remind me that people as twisted as the characters actually exist. I might just be too used to cartoonish styles of games. I'm more of a middle road kind of guy, I like games that don't have any, "Good" or, "Evil" restrictions. Calling something good or evil splits perspectives, causing weaker minds to skewer their views and fall into one of the two created categories in their heads that's been influenced by whomever beat that mindset into them. It could be something such as, "Shovels are evil! Hate them!" to, "Murder is bad! Hate it!" either way, labeling something makes it too easy to categorize it and stick to that newfound belief. (Hah, a comedian with deep thoughts, who'd uv thunk it huh?) I'm not into apocalyptic settings either, I like more lush landscapes, it doesn't have to have super high graphics, but seeing desert and destruction everywhere leaves me bored. (I liked Metal Saga though) I've grown up with mainly games like Mario, Final Fantasy, Megaman, games with fun gameplay, some with great characters, but overall, not much in the way of choices. You're just kind of pushed into fighting whoever you're fighting. While fun to play, and giving new challenges, it also leaves some people numb to what they're doing, and it reflects in real life. I like games that are clever as well, my whole life I've been waiting for a game that requires you to use your intuition and instinct, a game that tests your will and cunning. A game has been made that meets those qualifications, Undertale. Figuring out characters as deep as a puddle gets tiresome, but Undertale gives their characters personality, as though you're talking with actual people, and right from the start doesn't give you any hand holding. You've got to figure everything out yourself and I love it. Right from the first 4 seconds talking to the flower I knew it was messed up. I hadn't felt more, "Into" a game before. As though I'm talking with the character. What's that word, Immersed? You said you felt something for characters in Mass Effect, are they really that deep, so much that you could feel something for them? I was laughing at the NOTPUTTINGMEDIANAMEHERECAUSETHAT'DJUSTGIVEITMOREATTENTION News trying to slander a game for having sex, seriously, how insecure are they and how desperate are they for news? Long story short, (Too late I know) you have your loves, I have mine. The video was fun and informative, I'm gonna go look into Mass Effect. .....Man, I'm looking at this comment and it's an absolute MESS. I really shouldn't be given media devices after staying up over 24 hours, I just went on and on, too much to say, too little comment section. Well, I'm gonna click post anyway. *Clicks post button* ....What's going on? I'm still here? I'm....trapped inside the comment?! I'm stuck in the space between internet and reality!! What's that over there? A gap in the space! *Goes through the gap* Where am I? This place looks real familiar. *Trunks points a sword at me and attacks* Oh for FUCK SAKE NOOOOO!!!!!

+Game Goober Well that was a long read... But sure, I get where you're coming from. I guess it's largely my taste, that I quite like grittier or darker games - but not exclusively. I mean, dystopian world where everything sucks, the plants want to eat you, and the internet download speed is atrocious would get boring if it were in every game. You mentioned fallout, which is an example of what I call a "funpocalypse". Because it always has this lighter, tongue-in-cheek attitude about it, while still being about humanity clawing itself out from nuclear Armageddon. The "50's art style smiling sociopathic kid used as your icon" (Vault Boy) kind of emphasises that fact. And you also criticises the ideas of a distinct "good" and "evil". I always love a game where there is nuance, and grey areas. Examples on this list are Killzone 2 - where even though on the surface it's "evil gas mask, red-eyed space nazis", there is actually a strong argument to be made that they are the victims, and have been dicked about by the "americano-good guys". Fallout (particularly New Vegas) has very different moral path ways and decisions, and with the exception of clearly fucked up Ceasars legion who act like a post-apocalyptic ISIS, there is no obvious good guy (not even your own character, who can easily be a bit of a cunt). And Mass Effect, while has kind of a cold and totally merciless enemy, does try to show it's albiet alien, and "big picture, greater-good" point of view, and again, there is definitely no obvious "good" or "bad" way to resolve the game. I guess that's the other thing I like in a game, that's choices and decision making, because I like at least that sense of freedom, even if limited within the confines of that the game allows. But anyway I get you. And hope you find a find away out of comment hell.
