Hello, thank you for this ice cream reciept, my mom would make this but when she passed I remembered everything but the eggs. And yes we use to churn the cream and as it gets hard the harder it was to churn. I will making this for our next family gathering.
Thanks for the memories. Our family and 3 other families used to do this every Sunday afternoon during the summer time. We would all take turns gathering at one of our houses on Sunday afternoons .Our freezer was a hand crank, and all us kids would argue about who got to sit on top of the freezer to hold it down while my dad turned the crank. When I got to be a teenager I was promoted to turn the crank. Thought I was big time when that happened
I used to help churn the ice cream manual freezer, also when my granny would make ice cream. Those were the god ole days when we as a community helped each other every day. Thanks and blessings❣️😍🙏🏽😇💚🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Chef Jeffrey, You just took me all the way back to the 1960s and 1970s; when my mom use make us homemade banana ice cream. We use have cookouts (BBQ) in the back yard; with homemade ice cream for dessert. But, when our friends would hear the ice cream maker running, they would come over and stay. My mom always welcome them, too. She would just make another batch of ice cream just for us. I really love her vanilla and banana ice cream the best. Thank you for sharing your mom's recipe. My mom has gone to Heaven, but she'll never be forgotten. RIP Mom ❤ Peace and Blessings
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing you make homemade ice cream. It's very nostalgic for many of us standing out by the well as those who have gone before us were cranking and churning for some of the best ever!! Looks delicious, thanks for always giving the ingredients as you go!

Thank you 4 making ice cream so easy...you take the fear out of it...I think your old ice cream maker was ready to go...your ice cream didn't come out as hard as the newer version
Oh my goodness! It’s absolutely DELICIOUS. I struggled in the beginning but after you expressed layering the salt and ice, I went back in with fresh salt and ice. People please have enough of both or it’s not going to firm. This is indeed the closest to my grandma recipe. Thanks for your immediate assistance. He replies guys so if you have a question, ask.
Thanks for sharing , so far this is the closest recipe to my grandmothers, she actually cooked hers in a double boiler and put it in the sun tea jar in the fridge overnight and i would sneak in there and drain it into cups and drink it warm. lol those were the days
Good morning Chef Jeffery. Definitely looks delicious. I’ve never seen homemade ice cream being made before. Looks easy and very interesting. You’re ice cream maker looks very nice.
Hi Chef, a big smile popped on my face when you said pet milk. We used it a lot when we were kids even to put stamps in the S&H green stamp books! LOL 😆
Thanks for sharing this recipe Chef Jeffery!!! I made this ice cream with my twin granddaughters and the whole time we were making it I had so many memories of my Grandmother making ice cream when I was a little boy.
Hi chef I really enjoyed your ice video. I really shows that when you say help someone old school soul food. You do that you don't just talk about it. You are about helping people
After church in the summer, my family - aunt and uncle and their kids too - would sit in the backyard and use the hand crank ice cream maker. We all took turns because my mother said, "If you can't crank it, you don't get to eat the ice cream!" Then we got an electric one just like yours! She put it in the sink just like you did - I think we are missing out on these memories these days. You made vanilla, but my mom would toast pecans (picked from the tree in my uncle's backyard) for buttered pecan or I would sit at the kitchen table and shave little chunks of chocolate off a semi-sweet bar for chocolate chip. She also loved peach ice cream. That was fun thinking about those old days!
Good morning Chef Jeffrey. Wow, I am excited learning how to make old fashion homemade ice cream. You have brought back warm loving ❤ 💕 💗 memories during Juneteenth. I remember when they use the maker with the churn and that was fun, fun, fun. You are a blessing and please get some, much needed rest. You keep pouring out and now its time, for others to pour in to you. Turn off everything for 3 days, so your body can heal and may God restore virtue back into your body, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Chef, there is nothing like good old fashioned Ice Cream. I like it on cones.I can eat some right now. No cones. a bowl of Ice Cream and some cookies or cake.
Jeffrey, I was just re-watching this..., and it dawned on me why your electric motor is so temperamental. Try this next time- Just before you go to use the motor, plug it in and get it running, but not on the bucket. Make sure the air vents can breathe, and let it just run for a couple minutes on its own. That'll clean the copper contacts inside the motor, and it'll work better. After the ice cream is done, maybe think about removing the motor and then letting it run for a couple minutes as well. When the ice cream got stiff and the motor stalled, it didn't have a chance to cool off. By running the mirror afterward, you're letting the fan inside cool things off before you put it away. If you want to test my advice, put your hand in front of where the cooling fan blows the air out of the motor and see how hot the air is. Happy ice creaming!
My Mom and grand Mother used to make homemade ice cream all the time when we were kids my granny is gone now my Mom is 96 now I had4 freezers but moving I lost some so now I have none
