As an English person, I absolutely love listening to the southern accents because they sound so warm, unpretentious, and inviting. Like their foods, it always has a comforting air about it. 💕
I love your yard and home. I remember my Dad and Grandma in the kitchen making home made ice cream with fresh eggs from our own chickens.. lovely memories of Old England . Love Ya
Thank ou so much for sharing. I am from Louisiana and am now 72 years young. Lol My Mom made homemade ice cream just like this. It brought back so many happy memories. Before my mom passed away many years ago, I asked her for a recipe. She said what recipe I just make it. Lol It was the same for her old fashioned fudge. I am the oldest of 8 children and we all took turns sitting on the freezer, all the while thinking it wouldn’t freeze if we didn’t. Lol I did find a recipe for the fudge online and it was pretty close. The ice cream custard never was quite the same. She didn’t cook with recipes. It was frustrating to say the least😂 So thank you for the memories. I am a retired teacher and I made ice cream with my students but I often wished I would have had a recipe. Thank you, thank you. ❤
I'm from Louisiana too, I remember hand cranking the old-fashioned ice maker at my grandparents' house. My mawmaw used to say the same thing about recipes. I only got one that I wrote down from her & helped her cook to learn the rest. I miss them every day. When I taste certain foods, the wonderful memories come flooding back. I just bought my first ice cream maker for $20. (Wal-Mart) & can't wait to try this recipe. Be well all.
My momma used a dozen eggs and cooked all hers on the stove top and used milk. After it cooked thick she would add the cream. Then to the churn , the best was fighting who could turn the longest. Thank you so much for the memories
Some of my fondest memories were my Mama and,Daddyvwoukd make homemade ice cream. Peach, Vanilla, Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Family favorites were Banana and Peach, chocolate and of course vanilla and Strawberry we did them all. We had an old crank model Daddy would put ice and salt tge place a towel to help the ice last longer. The youngest would get the paddle. Oh what precious memories😊😊😊
Much better.. I don’t understand why people still use microwaves after it’s already been proven it fills everything with radiation that is put in microwaves..
On my grandpa's back porch, we made pineapple ice cream or vanilla and added blueberries that we just picked from the blueberry bushes. Yes, all of us kids cranked the ice cream churn.
My grandpa worked for the dairy here. I got homeade ice cream at all the holidays. At Christmas grandma would make Scottish shortbread, all the crumbs went over the ice cream as toppings. This video brought back such wonderful memories. Thank you!
That was such an amazing video, the ice cream making looks so cool, will definitely be trying this recipe soon. I just absolutely loved your house, everything about it is so beautiful, all the trees behind it is like a perfectly peaceful place and the cross in your kitchen with amazing grace touched my heart. Thankyou from India. May the Lord bless your beautiful family.
My grandmother use to make it from custard with eggs. Blue Bell ‘s vanilla taste close to hers. She would make it on Saturdays and pour it into those metal ice cube trays without the insert that made the cubes. You know the things you had to lift the handles to free the cubes. She also made a homemade pound cake to die for. After church on Sundays my dad would drive off with his mother-in-law to take her home and get the Goods to bring home to us. Oh how we enjoyed. “MEMORIES”!
Chris, you reminded me of the time we made ice cream at my aunt's house. All the kids took turns churning it, and yes, someone sat on the top. I think I was 7 or 8. After it was done we added fresh strawberries we had picked off my aunt's farm. It's still one of my favorite memories. We made ice cream about a year ago when my son came home for a visit. He's a Naval submariner and out somewhere in the oceans. You two gave me a fond memory of that time. Thank you. I miss him.
Strawberry. I remember making it and all us kids couldn't wait for our turn! You just brought back one of my favorite memories of my childhood! May your Memorial Day be blessed
This brings back wonderful childhood memories! My mother would ALWAYS cook hers on the stovetop WITH eggs. Of course, I did mine like she did! Sometimes, we would purée bananas, peaches, or pineapple and add it to custard right before we froze it. Everyone had their favorite flavor from time to time. YUM! YUM! 😊
My grandmother had a huge peach tree and during the summer our family would add fresh peaches to mama's cooked custard. The best!!!!! My daddy always made us snow cream ( whenever it snowed! We live in south Mississippi!)
Tammy, I have made ice cream for 40 years and mom always made it when I was kid. I’m 63. We make it with raw eggs. Whole milk, sugar, evaporated milk. Eggs, and vanilla!! It is the best. We all love it. Vanilla is my favorite with chocolate syrup that my mom made! I’m going to try yours sometime sounds good!!!
Growing up we always had vanilla homemade ice cream. When my little brothers came along they liked chocolate so my mother melted Milky Way candy bars and after it cooled down, added it to the vanilla ice cream mixture to freeze. It tasted similar to a Wendy’s frosty. After I married, hubby’s family only liked banana ice cream so that’s all I’ve made for the last 53 years…delicious.
@@Brandi_the_BakerI just finished eating homemade banana pudding. I insist on my making the banana ice cream with vanilla wafers. I excited about the possibility that it might just taste similar to banana pudding. I've never tasted banana ice cream. I do not ever remember seeing it in the stores. This should be fun.
Love strawberry ice cream, it's been at least 10 years since we made it, my Mom cooked the ice cream on the stove, it had eggs too. I miss my Mom so much. Happy memorial day 🎉
Memories of sitting on the crank-churn, then being old enough to get to turn it. Styrofoam cups for sure. And that little bit of salt taste that always got into it let you know we made it ourselves. Our churn is now with my parent’s great-grand children and still churning strong.❤
I miss the sound of the ice cream maker. Love being a kid. I would sit on it because it would shake. My grandma would pack cup towels on it. Yummmmmmmmmy
I worked in a nursing home. My Dad still has an old hand crank ice cream maker. When I was still working I would take the ice cream maker to work every year and we'd make ice cream with the residents. They'd all take a turn cranking the machine. They loved it. I also took my Mom's recipe for the custard and the kitchen staff would prepare it for us. Guess what! It had eggs in it 😂. Best ice cream ever.
Hey Y'all!! When I was a kid I got buckets of snow to make ice cream,it was a nice winter treat with plenty of snow in Minnesota winter🥶 thanks for showing us yard and chickens made my day!! Luv Y'all!! Have a Blessed Day!!
I have been on Keto for 1 1/2 yrs now and will stay on Keto , I made this with keto sweetener , I have an electric ice cream maker , an it is wonderful , thank you
I grew up on peach ice cream because that’s what mama liked! I remember going to the city market and buying a bushel. Canned some and also made peach jelly!
MY MOMMA COOKED HERS ON STOVE TOP JUST LIKE HER PUDDINGS...AND WE HAND CHURNED(I'M 63)WAS VANILLA WOULD ÀDD EITHER STRAWBERRIES..BANANA OR CHOCOLATE SYRUP......THANK YOU AND MR CHRIS FOR SHARING TIME WITH US TODAY..HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO YOU BOTH😊

Oh, I miss homemade ice cream. Beautiful new home. There ain't no garden complete, if there's no okra! God has certainly blessed you both. Thanks for the year's of sharing love from your kitchen to ours! Next video, you'll be tan!
I make snow cream. I have ice that I put in my Vitamix and then in a separate bowl, I mix the milk, heavy whipping cream, sugar and vanilla. I pour it in over the crushed ice in the Vitamix, and I have snow cream. My mother always cooked the milk, sugar and eggs before she make ice cream. I love Banana and of course good Peaches. My mother made the best ice cream. I miss her so much. I used to have a cabinet ice cream maker that you put part of it in the freezer and freeze it, then pour the ice cream mixture in it. It was good, but now like old fashioned ice cream churn. I love ice cream. I use sugar cones and they do not hold alot so I feel like I am not doing too bad eating just a little ice cream. LOL
Oh my goodness! Old fashioned ice cream! I don’t remember the last time I had it. I’m now 65 years old and the last time I can actually remember having it was probably in the early 70’s. My grandparents were the ones that made it, in the old fashion hand churn. Grandpa liked peach, so best I remember it was always peach. I remember liking it. Thanks for sharing! It brought back sweet memories! ♥️
Hey Tammy and Chris! Yes made a freeze of vanilla. Yes I make with eggs and don’t cook them. I bet the eggs then add sugar stir real well and add my homemade vanilla extract with alcohol and to me that cook the egg. Look at the spoon and see what it does. My 65 yr olds and have always ate and made this way and I’m still here!! 🍨
I live in Texas, have the same machine and I love it, my favor is the marachino cherries, I have never used eggs, alway watch the videos but seems to complicated, but I making ice cream today for my husband bday on Friday and he like vanilla, I will give it a try with eggs. Thanks for your video.
Tht looked SO good! It's been 50 yrs since we made it! Peach is my kids favorite & mine along w/ VANILLA! I LOVE your video's & your home! Beautiful & peaceful ⛱️ 💕 Thx for sharing...👍🥰
Vanilla and banana. I don’t like bananas to eat but I love good homemade banana ice cream. Loved the yard tour too. I noticed you have sago palms. When we lived on the Texas gulf coast people who lived near water water had a big problem with copperhead snakes hanging out in the Sago palms. One lady my husband worked with had them dug up because she got tired of the snakes.
Just made ice cream two days ago and yes I make mine just like yours. It was my husbands 80th birthday celebration. I made homemade hot fudge for ours. 🥰
My grandpa used to make ice cream for us kids when we lived in Turner, KS while dad was in Korea. Such good memories for everyone! Your ice cream looks delicious!!!! Since you told us about microwaving pudding that needs to be cooked I have been doing it and all I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you!! What a nice house and yard! Thanks for the video and outside tour Chris and Tammy! ❤
Your house is perfect!! Thank you for showing us! I love it!! You have happy chickens that can be chickens, eating bugs grass etc! That’s why your egg yolks are so dark! Nothing better! ❤️💕
Now that looks like some good ice cream! I’m guessing this is what some people would call custard. There is an ice cream place in a town just north of us that still makes the old fashioned frozen custard on their old machines. People line up there in the summer. We drove up there one time to try it--I can see why this place has been in business so long. It was so delicious! Thanks for this recipe--I will write it down for future use. My mom would generally make pineapple ice cream because it was my dad’s favorite….❤️
