I saw your older video and that got me saving old sheets. It's just me, so it has taken a little longer to collect enough old sheets (I'll definitely check out Goodwill) but I am finally getting ready to start the prep work. I already crochet so I'm not worried about that part. I just love the idea of taking something that would normally be thrown away and extending the life of it in an entirely new way. I grew up sleeping under old quilts my great-grandmother made and they were faded, worn, and a little frayed. I don't mind that and actually expect that based on the way the strips are made. Love the concept and can't wait to get started!

Hi, I just found your channel, thank you for this Idea. I’m going to make a basket from my old sheets & table clothes to put my potted plants in it. I found a deep saucer to use for the bottom of the basket, it will helped to keep its shape & prevent any water damage to the basket. I found the saucer at Walmart for $1.78, it’s about 4” high & it is for a large planter. The basket can also be used for many other purposes. Thank you & look forward to your new videos 😘

Hi Julie...i so wanna try this...they look so neat!! before this updated video i had read on the other one about people using it as a weighted blanket...now i'm thinking they could be put in a duvet cover...and another mention was plarn rugs...people make them for unfortunates living on the street as a mattress to lay down on...i think if they were made with sheets like yours it would bring them more warmth...

Way back when.....quilts were often made using ugly colors, but what most people don't consider, is that the lighting was very dim. Most homes were lit by lamplight or candles. In this low light, those ugly colors were beautiful! It's the same with the rag rugs. What we see as ugly color, or even a crazy color we wouldn't ordinarily use, is actually beautiful in the low light of the evenings. My husband and I light our home with oil lamps. We have them scattered throughout our home. It gives everything such a soft cozy glow. Thank you for stopping by! ❤️

Thank you for ssking Elaine! I really need to do another video on the actual crochet pattern. I think more toward fall I will. Things will slow down with my gardening and canning by then. I started with a chain of 9, I think. Then turned back on that. I just kept going around creating an oval, and increasing as I went. You need to mark your starting point, so not to lose your place. I will definitely do a video on it for you! Thank you for your interest! 💖

Hi Ann. I didn't make a video on what I think you are referring to. Do you mean the rectangular burgundy and mustard colored rug? If that is the one you mean, I just used 3 strands of worsted weight yarn and simply crocheted it up into the size I needed. If this isn't what you were referring to, can you let me know, please?

Thank you! I just used a single crochet stitch. I also added fringe. I'm not sure what size hook I used, but I'm sure as long as you use one that will work with 3 strands, it will be fine. You can use any type of yarn to make this. You could even use t-shirt yarn. I'd love to hear all about it when it's done. Have fun!

Wait...don't some fabrics tear better than others? Of what fabric should the sheets be made? Cotton, linen, polyester, microfiber???

I like cotton best. You're right. Tearing is easier with some fabrics than it is with others, but you could always use scissors or a rotary cutter. This is such a fun project. I hope you give it a try!

I don't think so, but I'm not 100%. All you can do is try. I've ripped cotton, cotton blend, and flannel.

Thank you Katherine. This is all done using a Q hook and single crochet. I began by chaining 9, then just kept going in rounds, increasing by 2 or 3 around the 4 corners (curves). It's very easy to do.

Sorry Julie I meant the long one you made. I chained 30 for length just not sure on corners. When you get to end are you crocheting one or two then turn and are you going into first or second stitch. I’m having trouble keeping it even. Thanks for answering so quickly though. Enjoyed your video.

Thank you! For that rug I actually used 3 different three different yarn colors all at the same time. It was a challenge, but a fun one! I chained as many stitches to get the length I wanted, then turned and went back and forth until I got the size I wanted. Does that help?

Yes, any rug can be a potential trip hazard. I like to place my crocheted rag rugs in low traffic areas, such as at a bedside or in a walk-in closet. I also recommend placing a rug gripper pad under your rug to keep it from sliding. Have a blessed holiday!
