Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen was a master communicator with an unforgettable voice and ability to communicate the message of Christianity to all peoples. He was a Catholic priest with a tremendous knowledge of Catholic Theology, as well as all Christian denominations and world religions. He had a way of being very likeable and welcoming to all, no matter what your beliefs were. To Catholics, he was a saint of modern times. Though not yet canonized, he is considered one of the most important Catholics that God has put on this earth in the 20th Century.
Fulton John Sheen (born Peter John Sheen, May 8, 1895 - December 9, 1979) was an American archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church known for his preaching and especially his work on television and radio. His cause for canonization for sainthood was officially opened in 2002. In June 2012, Pope Benedict XVI officially recognized a decree from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints stating that he lived a life of "heroic virtues" - a major step towardsbeatification - so he is now referred to as "Venerable".
