A broken or bent pin can be removed with needle nose pliers, or tapped out carefully with a small pointed tool like a punch or small nail. If yours is jammed and you cannot easily remove it, give us a call at 800-343-1555.
Hi, Bob. The sheer pin is designed to break to prevent damage to your prop shaft and lower unit if you hit something hard. We recommend regularly rinsing and inspecting the drive and prop pin, especially after saltwater use, as the pins are prone to corrosion since they are made of softer metal. If the pin breaks on both sides, use a punch that is a smaller diameter than the prop pin to gently tap it out. If that doesn't work, visit the nearest Minn Kota service center for their help or call our customer service team at 800-343-1555.
I just got my 106 delivered today. Nice to include a spare pin the key! I was wondering, is there a way to buy a few extras? I know the props are readily available, but not sure if those comes with a new pin, washer, and wing nut. Or after an aftermarket pin of the correct diameter would work? And advice?
Hi Ryan, we do offer packs of replacement pins on our website. You can purchase just pins, or a kit with a spare propeller, nut, and washer.
