What do you think though? Perhaps you have an older microwave which is used daily? Or, do you or someone you know own one of these microwaves too? Let me know in the comments below as I would be very interested to hear. 🙂

Hey Nick, thanks for the comment! We have some Sanyo speakers which, although rarely used, still work. They clearly made good products too. Thanks for sharing! 🙂👍

The microwave I have, a SAMSUNG RE722ME, has a manufacture date of January 1989, has been in constant use ever since. Hell it hasn’t even needed a bulb changed….it seems like things were just built to last back then!

Hello Ultra, thanks for the comment! I completely agree! Things do feel like they were built to last longer in the past, and it's incredible you haven't needed to change the bulb yet!! I don't have many Samsung products but they have always had a good reputation too where I've just bought their latest OLED TV which I'll post a review about very soon.

Hi Maureen, thank you so much for the comment and for sharing this🙂! It's another example of how well Panasonic make products. I posted a review of the Panasonic microwave I bought (here: The review is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XP1F-lMsv0c.htmlsi=Ak6kLk6G8PgWJbSs ) and feel that it too will last many years.

My husband's late parents' Panasonic Genius exactly like that just stopped heating up food a few days ago. He was so sad 😢.

Hello fiNDlay, thank you for the comment. I'm sorry to read this as I appreciate the nostalgia and sentimentality your husband probably has with the applicance. It was a central part in many kitchens and your husband probably has many happy family memories from this time.

My Hitachi MR-6300 has had 3 bulb changes only since my folks bought in 1984 from ETS Helston. Still in use every morning and other times throughout the day. Also with auto-sensor.

I have a Toshiba ER-555BT, mfg. November 1984. Woodgrain metal sides & top with glass front door. The door has a hinged flat lever and can be opened & close silently with 3 fingers & thumb w/o the loud 'snap' sound when opening/close the door on today's ovens. Has worked flawlessly since new but the touch panel is starting to fail. Only 1 bulb change.

I must've had strangely good luck with my '86 Toshiba ER-875BT microwave. It has the original magnetron still going strong, along with the bright LED panel. I do hope im not jinxing it, though.

My parents got a microwave back in 75 or 76. It's in my kitchen and still works. Bradford brand for the old Grants store.

Found this clip because mine has just died 😢, not exact same model but very similar dates back to the late 80’s early 90’s. They must have been well made

Hi John, thanks for the comment! I'm assuming it was a Panasonic model too? They are very well made! If you are still looking for a replacement microwave (specifically a microwave only microwave), then I can recommend the NN-ST46KB, which I posted a video for here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XP1F-lMsv0c.html

@@james_newall thanks for the feedback would you believe me if I said I have just been out today and bought a new Panasonic and it the model you suggested 😳 don’t expect I will get 37 years out of this one ( it was as older than I thought when I took it out and looked at the name plate) you are welcome to the electronics if you want to keep yours going 🤣🤣
@james_newall
@james_newall Год назад
@@johnwarwick4105 that is a coincidence! So far the NN-ST46KB has proved to be a fantastic microwave for us, doing everything we want it to. Thank you for the offer of the electronics - I may yet take you up on that 🙂

Panasonics were great back in the day for MV. I had a Panny MV in 1991. Just failed in the pandemic yr 2021. 30 yrs - no parts replacement whatsoever. Part failed which they no longer make.

Hi Red Eye, thanks for the comment! I completely agree they are extremely well made and the Panasonic microwave I bought a couple of years ago feels just as good: video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XP1F-lMsv0c.html I would be surprised if it too doesn't last many years 🙂

Hi Maher, if you still have the manual have a look inside the front or back page, usually near the bottom. In the absence of a manufacture date it might have a printed date.

Oh that’s cool. Does it have any value to it? I have a 1986 Litton Generation II microwave that also still works and is used on a daily basis although I have the same problem with the digital display. Takes a few wiggles to get it showing sometimes.
@james_newall

@@danettebunnell3895 🙂 Yes that's it a few well positioned taps or wiggles as you say and the display returns. In terms of value I honestly don't know perhaps someone else might be able to advise?
