The archaeologist Ferdinando de Simone guides us through the excavations of Somma Vesuviana, an ancient Roman site. In this area on the slopes of Vesuvius, a stone's throw from Pompeii, we are going to discover the ancient residence of the emperor Augustus. Everything in the Roman villa seems to be linked to the figure of Dionysus and the production of wine. It was discovered that thanks to the use of amphorae the wine produced in this area was exported throughout the Roman Empire.
The collaboration with Ciro Giordano of Cantine Olivella has made it possible to create an exclusive label for our Wine Club: In Summa, a wine made from Catalanesca grapes aged in amphora.
