For putting rubber pieces on machinery I keep an old tube of KY jelly on my shelf. It's water based so it doesn't deteriorate the rubber or plastic and it works pretty well too. As a bonus feature, it also makes my wife roll her eyes in bewilderment on those rare occasions she visits my garage.

Find a diode push button, or put a diode inline with the new push button switch in the RC77. It will keep the voltage spike caused when you break contact from burning the contacts out.

I wasn't sure just how the hyrda-electric worked, but I do now. There is a lot to know about he history of the Oliver and all the intricacies of what they did. Well I hope you don't have too much problem with the rest of the 1650 upgrade, good luck. Have a good evening!

Our '49 88 had hydro/electric on it. Levers at the steering wheel. It was great for operating the plow at the end rows, great on the none wheeled disc as you simple straighten the gang and went to the barn yard, worked great on the cultivators too, but Granddads 70 mechanical lift was much faster on them.. They were still work good when I left for 20 years in the USAF in '65. Of course they don't work now and my brother still has the tractor. He and it are the same age including month they come to the farm.

Very interesting. We have several Olivers with hydra electric that we never used them. I wasn’t for sure how they worked. Thanks for your time and knowledge explaining this. I’m much clearer than I was on this. Thanks My Friend Ross.

Very interesting. One thing I have noticed from watching your videos and The Oliver Guy's videos is how far ahead of the times that Oliver was in areas like that. I am a little surprised they were not more widely accepted over IH and Deere.

We only had a couple of customers who kept their hydra-electric still working. One of the Service Reps that came from the MM side of the new conglomerate of Oliver/Moline had designed, built, and sold his version of the hydra-electric for MM tractors. If I remember correctly his name was Riddle. That was back in the days when Oliver held service schools in a back area of the distribution centers. IH had training schools with full-sized training aids. When I went to an IH school they showed us a lexan valve body that they had made to show oil passage usage. When they put it on they found that Hydraulic Oil did not change color when it went through all of the passages. They even had their own motel facility for trainees to stay in. One of their instructors at the Hickory Hills training center was Larry Love. He liked to bang a backhoe bucket on the parking lot to wake everyone up in time for breakfast. They even had their own food facility and cash bar which got a lot of usage every evening, therefore the backhoe bucket noise and vibration. They even had a golf course for the IH executives from Chicago and when duck season was in they even had their own guarantee that the executives shot a duck. If Oliver had that type of dedicated facility their dedication to service would have been better. IH had school facilities in Hickory Hills, down in GA (I think) plus one out west.

Good explanation of the Hydroelectric system. I dont think any of my tractors have the complete set up. I know most of the cylinders do. I've found that NAPA heavy duty push button starters (NAPA part # ST-6) seem to last longer that any other that i've bought.

I thought this was very interesting. Sometimes it's the little details that are fun to learn. It's the history that is being lost, and it is being preserved in these videos. All three people I have been watching that work with Oliver equipment are very knowledgeable. Thanks for sharing. I'll see you later.

My Super 77 has everything there yet except the switches on the steering column. The cords are pretty tatered. Chrysler was another innovator at this point in history. In 1958 they introduced the Bendix Electro Jector fuel injection system on i believe the Desoto Adventurer with the 361 BB engines. Like what Oliver experienced, the quality of the Electronic parts was not up the task of dealing with moisture. Chrysler recalled all of these cars and converted them back to carburetors. I saw an interview with a guy who had restored a Desoto that was originally factory equipped with this system. He was able to find all the parts and restored the Bendix system as well. He just updated a lot of the electronics with modern stuff and the engine runs great like every big block Chrysler does.

It's kinda amazing how the series 1 hydroelectric was basically electric over hydraulic controls and now that's how they are doing almost everything and they still don't have all the bugs worked out of it 😂 we have a john deere cylinder with the manual adjust collar. We never had any working hydroelectric systems though and i don't think any cylinders

The 77 diesel we have is a early band brake tractor with the levers on the steering column. I know one lever still works. It has the Aeroquip couplers on it. The other coupler has been updated to pioneers and I am not sure if that lever works for sure. It sure takes getting used to after using the long levers that come out the top of the unit all the time.
@baileyattheoliveracreage

Our 77 diesel has the early style Aeroquip couplers with the ones that have the screw on caps though. Not like the ones on the 1550.

I have a 77 diesel with no levers. Put pliers on the nubs standing behind it and proceeded to get an instant oil bath, so the hydraulics work. Wiring is totally gone and switches don’t move. Been looking for parts. Had no luck. So used or cobble is only answer?
@rosstheoliverman
@rosstheoliverman 24 дня назад
Pretty well. It’s impossible to find those side levers so you’ll have to just hunt for a parts tractor.
