Dame Olivia de Havilland has had an illustrious career and deserves all the plaudits available. Thank you for uploading this film of her receiving the National Medal of Arts.
her sister should be given the same--her sister is Joan Fontaine who won the oscar for Suspicion. They are not close ever since they were rivals in Hollywood-Joan lives in a really cool Estate called Villa Fontana in Carmel,CA. Olivis lives outside Paris and has for decades
@vivecavh ~ I agree that Ms. Fonatine should be honored as well! Among other things, she holds an honor that can NEVER be broken; she is the only performer to have won an Oscar under Alfred Hitchcock's direction. Ms. Fontaine is a highly accomplished woman in many fields, and I'd love to see here feted by Mr. Obama.
Joan has hardly had the accomplishments of her sister. Olivia has had both more AA nominations and wins (2 wins), and has, on the whole, done far more films of a higher caliber. Joan, admittedly, has demonstrated great talent, but not nearly as many times.
@richalan67 It was mean as a joke as Bush is everyones favourite whipping boy to the world it seems! I actually do not have a problem with him as a person or as a President of a foreign nation Your USA , I feel nothing BUT LOVE towards the USA and gratitude for the educational system I am receiving due to my hard work in High School in Quebec I earned a full scholarship to a major University of learning in the USA, of N. America, Canada is the USA's best friend in the world, we love u!
@DavidHenesy When would you have her honored? During a ceremony at Obama's WH? Oh wait, he's too busy flying in AF1 to escape the fact that he is an inept little boy playing a grown-up game!
