Olivia Hussey & Leonard Whiting interviewed by Bernard Braden, after their appearance in Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo & Juliet (1968). 'The 60's Revealed' - No infringement intended. Property of Channel Five (UK)
Subidubidú Watch Liza Soberano in motion here in RU-vid (don't just check her photos! lol), and you can see that they almost have the same features. Both of them are classic beauties. It's no wonder why we are totally overwhelmed by their beauty. :-)
I know I noticed that too. I noticed her smoking before the interviewer picked up on it. I’m wondering was that just orange juice or perhaps a screwdriver.
i love how at around 2:10 they are talking about Olivia smoking and Leonard randomly takes her glass of juice, drinks it, and gives it back to her as if nothing is happening
Lol i find it hot if someone i liked takes a sip of my drink because their lips where on my cup..i bet they had the hots for each other i can see it in his eyes...😆
Olivia Hussey looked like those young ladies during the Renaissance in Europe. She could've been a model for those paintings at that time though most of the female subjects for Renaissance paintings are redheads while she's a raven- haired beauty. Wait, Mona Lisa's also dark- haired and a renowned painting during that period.
If you were to die today, are you a 100% sure you will go to heaven? If no, here is what the bible says, (1) Romans 3:23 KJV [23] For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Q1. Do you know what Sin is? Sin is anything bad that we have done. Q2. Have you sinned before? Yes or No? (2) Revelation 21:8 KJV [8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Because we have sinned, and God does not allow Sin into Heaven, the punishment is burning hell. What is the way to reconcile our peace and relationship with God? Q3. Do you know the Story of Jesus? (3) Romans 5:8 KJV [8] But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus = God who lived up in Heaven, but he came down on earth and became a man like us, he lived for 33.5 years without committing any sin. Then there were certain people who were jealous and therefore framed him on phony charges, and crucified him. Then he was buried and resurrected on the third day; Now he lives in HEAVEN. Q4. Do you know why Jesus went through all this bloody mess for us? A4. As mentioned, our sin is the reason why we can’t go to heaven, and the only thing that can wash away our sin is the Blood of Jesus. (4) Romans 5:9 KJV [9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. According to the bible, the only way for us to reconcile with God is through Christ Jesus’s blood, and not through any works that we do or merits we accumulate, such as water baptism, attending church, or any good thing that we do. The following verses clearly support this. (5) Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. (6) 2 Corinthians 7:10 KJV [10] For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. In order to get saved, repentance of one’s sin is needed to get saved, we need to be sorry, and repent, with conviction, that we are a wretched sinner. (7) Romans 10:9 KJV [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. If you truly do believe in everything you have heard in the gospel, ,I strongly suggest you to make a proclamation to GOD! You can say it to God in less than 15 seconds !Repeat after this simple prayer, to make sure you truly get saved. Remember repeating this prayer doesn't save you, it's you telling God you BELIEVE THE GOSPEL. Ok, here is the prayer : ‘Dear GOD, I know I am a sinner, as I repent, I put my faith, that Jesus is GOD, and that he died, buried and resurrected, so that his blood, can wash away my Sins. I put my faith in that alone to save me, not my good works. In Jesus’s holy name, I pray. Amen! Congratulations ! Now you are a child of God. That's why we need to study biblical dispensationalism to rightly divide the word of God.( study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, 2 Timithy 2:15) (I recommend the dispensationalism video from Genesis to Revelations by Dr. Gene Kim, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GI4CteEFxOk.html) , join a bible believing church. @@mariavictoriasalita2908 I’m sure you think that because we know her best from a Shakespeare production (although technically, that’s Elizabethan). If we knew her from a more contemporary movie where she was styled accordingly, you probably would not make that association.
Everyone needs to chill about how, "Smoking isn't attractive on girls" and "smoking kills!" and especially "I've lost respect for her for smoking in an interview." IT WAS THE LATE 60'S! Smoking was a very common thing then, they didn't know the dangers of it. The culture was much different back then, so just shut up because I feel like that's a pretty common fact about the 60's that I assumed everyone knew
Everyone did smoke back then, true; but a girl smoking at 15 (or 14 if she started during the filming of The Pride of Miss Jean Brodie) would have been considered a bit shocking. That's something 'bad' girls did. LOL
That's true, and unfortunately, many are now paying the price with cancer and other illnesses. Olivia is fighting breast cancer. Smoking literally marinates your entire body with poison.
Similar hairstyles, but Zac Efron will never be as beautiful as Leonard Whiting, and Ariana Grande will never be as beautiful as Olivia Hussey. End of story.
I love olivia and ariana though? why did you bring ariana into this? everyone has their own type of beauty. just because she has the typical ariana hairstyle means nothing.
The two leading roles actually dated for a while in real life. According to Whiting, he was madly in love with Olivia at the time when they shot the film, but sadly it didn't work out. Whatever the reason was, it breaks my heart. I really wish they can be together in real life. Also the theme song of the movie "A Time for Us" is too beautiful in a sad way. Can't help being all sentimental when listening to that music..
They are the most beautiful people to ever be a couple on-screen ever. Their beauty is eternal because of these videos and pictures so it doesn't matter what they look like now. Eternal Youth, anyone? xD
guitars23 I beg to disagree. She looks extremely gorgeous in this interview as well as Leonard Whiting looking very handsome. I also learned about them because we studied Romeo and Juliet in school.
👺 i thought that was a really weird thing for him to say. a few students @ my catholic school were smoking @ age 11 in 6th grade. 🚬 a lot of freshman were smokers in my public h.s. @ age 14. 😒 dude is odd. too bad children are still ignorant enough to think that smoking is mature rather than of pathetic. 😴
Gah, Olivia Hussey was probably one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the screen. I remember watching the movie in English class freshman year and admiring how beautiful she was and how sexy Leonard Whiting and his bare ass were. LOL. No remake of Romeo and Juliet will ever compare to this one. Ever.
Me, too. Not in grade 9 but in grade 11 English class. After the movie, our teacher had us listen to a vinyl record of 'Romeo & Juliet' by Alec Constantinos. I love that song! I found it on RU-vid, 25 years later. Someone had made a video with a shortened (8 min, 37 sec) version of that (15 min) song expertly synched up with selected scenes from the Zeffirelli movie, a true work of art. Unfortunately, that amazing video was deleted, re-uploaded by someone else, deleted again. Every teacher should conclude the R+J portion of the curriculum with that video. It's unforgettable.
The first time I saw this version of Romeo and Juliet, I was like, "I can't believe someone that beautiful actually exist." I've been an admirer of her beauty since. And even aging goes well with her.
Oh my god this girl is just so fricken beautiful 😱😍 Seriously one of the prettiest I've ever seen. I'm totally Obssessed with her. Lol people keep on going on about how he looks like Zac Efron but am I the only one that doesn't give two shits about him?!? She's so gorgeous and this is coming from a straight girl! Lol I think I have some sorta girl crush on her ☺️ She was even prettier in Romeo and Juliet movie ❤️
The guys back then where so effortlessly male. So themselves, so confident, so authentic. they must have put something in the water, because god what happened.
I am her age; what happened to men ?? FEMININISM and a society that wants to emasculate and feminize ALL males of ALL ages; that is what happened to today’s males.
Besides feminism, there's really something we all are ingesting in one way or another since the wide use of plastics during 1960s/1970s period, and that affects testosterone and other important hormones. Look It up.
I noticed Elijah wood and Macaulay bulking looked and acted like ordinary boys or guys in the 90s and 00s but by 2010s, they're both suddenly very effeminate and affected.
I was 15 years old when I saw this movie. I loved the setting, the dialogue, the romance. Olivia and Leonard were both absolutely beautiful- when I think of Romeo and Juliet, I picture them. She had the face of an angel, and he was HOT!
I've honestly never seen a more beautiful girl in my life. Nor have I seen such a handsome guy. My class is watching this movie now and I don't think they realize how perfect they are for the part.
he/she would just look stupid, i think. american/english teenagers were so stupid at the time us did aggression towards nicaragua and other countries but for them was better to get drugs EZLN
hipnhappenin if a 16 year old actor/actress smoked in an interview in today's society, they'd be ripped to shreds. But in the late 60's, it was considered normal for young teens
Olivia and Leonard are the best Romeo and Juliet I have ever seen, none of the modern ones match up to these two, they are so perfect for the parts. I hope they are both doing well now.
I had to watch the movie in English in grade 10. The shock on my classmates face when she appeared shirtless (and mine as well) was too much for our teacher. He almost died laughing. Because we were the same age as Olivia and it was so shocking for us. (Needless to say, the boys definitely liked that scene)
I think it must be a high school English requirement to watch this film. I think all the 9th grad English classes watched it. But we didn't realize this movie had come out more than 20 years before we were born. The nude scene was no surprise to anyone because some of the students who saw it let it slip. lol
Ha ha! Same in my class. Of course, I think the girls were taken with Olivia as well. She is so beautiful in this movie. I think that she is still the most beautiful girl I have ever seen to this day. Leonard wasn't bad either. He was a cutie. I heard they dated during the movie. Too bad they didn't marry. Their children would have been beautiful.
What's interesting is that when Olivia Hussey is gone, she won't be gone, because she has this undeniable immortality as Juliet. She brought depths of emotions, riveting desires, and passionate innocence to Juliet. That's the reason why her Juliet is the most acknowledged and remembered.
klassicalmuzik damn....dag on....damn God damn slow down.....biy u gonna take an eye out bruh... geez...at least ur on point with that... matter fact I'm gonna get my girlfriend the exact costume....oh.. already did. LMDAO!!°😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣👌👌👌🤘🤘✌✌
My god, sweet Olivia... As far as I know she started smoking to become thinner (cause the producers told her she was too chubby). During the next two decades she smoked away almost all her beauty.
homhable yea shes a train wreck today. but too much smoking, drinking, partying when you're a kid usually shows up a little later in life. Mormon chicks like Marie Osmond hold their age well cause they don't do all the bad stuff.
+ajitosconmayonesa Smoking itself doesn't make you thinner. But cigarettes contain nicotine, which is an appetite depressant. So by smoking cigarettes, you feel less hungry (or hungry less often), so you eat less.
@@willkittwk she has been in a relationship with an actor who suffered from schizophrenia, that "hit her a lot" (quoting from her memoir), and after their separation, brutally attacked her one night and raped her. She ended up having an abortion which added more trauma to the injury. I would hold back from making a link between the smoking and how she looks nowadays. It is not a healthy habit but neither is being abused the way she has been. 😔
This is going to sound dumb, but did they have a real-life romance? They look like they have such good chemistry. Anyway Leonard was quite the looker and so was Olivia. They did the best portrayal of Romeo and Juliet in my opinion
it was a great coming of age movie..also Leonard Whiting sings the song heaven in your eyes really beautifully and should have sung more songs...Olivia should never have let him get away...
I think Olivia Hussey is one of those, out of this world, iconic beauties in the history of the Big Screen... She is in the same league as Audrey Hepburn and Monroe...
Yes they were involved all through the filming. Apparently she broke it off and by all accounts his wife Cathy Damon ( now deceased ) said he never got over her.
I was a young girl in the 60's when my sister 8 1/2 years older then me took me to see this film. I thought Leonard Whiting was the most handsome young man in the world. I was HOOKED! I can't even remember how many times I have seen this movie still one of my top favorites that will never change I am in my 50's now. They both did an excellent job in this film. What Is A Youth is also one of my favorite songs. :) FAN FOR LIFE!
I fell in love with this movie and music when I was 12, it was a beautiful shock. I still remember the actors, the feelings, the emotions. Great movie with great actors.
Wow, what an amazing video. I can't imagine any actors today who can come even close to them. Their voices are beautiful and they seem a little shy and guarded unlike the current crop always promoting themselve right in your face. The film, Romeo & Juliet, still holds up well today.
One of the best Romeo and Juliet preformeces, I have seen. This movie was so well made and the actors so extremely terrific, you couldn't even tell you where watching a film from 1968. Amazing, my much to late congrats to them.
I was 15 years old when I saw this movie. I loved the setting, the dialogue, the romance. Olivia and Leonard were both absolutely beautiful- when I think of Romeo and Juliet, I picture them. She had the face of an angel, and he was HOT!
Is no one else going to comment on how amusing it is at 2:09 that he starts eyeing her drink and then takes it from her, drinks a bit, and gives it back. A+ and how mature she acted and just continued answering.
I guess we both saw it back when it hit the tv screens, i guess i was perhaps 10 and for me Olivia became the end all-be all, the undying symbol of pure love. Sigh....
Where they a couple in real life? Teenagers in the entertainment industry are so much more mature than teens with a regular life. Maybe because they spend more time working on things with adults. Teenagers my age are so childish it's cringeworthy.
That annoying moment when everyone on the page is commenting on how "he looks like Zac Efron"...except Leonard actually looks like a man whereas Efron has more of a girlish look.
This may sound creepy but for a few years now I've wanted a wax sculpture of olivia at this age in my house. I mean look at her. She's flawless. Beauty at its utmost best
I saw Romeo and Juliet when it hit the tv in the us, perhaps when i was 10 or 12. To me Olivia became the epitome of beauty, purity and sweet, true love. Only Snow White could compare, but Olivia was the real deal. In a way, her's was the face, the hair, the voice and the sweetness that i looked for over the course of my life in any woman i came across. It was not fair to other woman, of course, for who could ever measure up? Sigh.....
I grew up in the South and in 1960's I was in elementary school - some of the guys smoked and a girlfriend swore she had been smoking since she was 7 years old. We were 10 years old and she was trying to get me to smoke...I did, got sick in the gutter in front of her house and was cured for a lifetime!
I saw her in the movie theater when I was 14. Him and her so beautiful couple. There are posters and magazine covers for years. And i like a song "What is a youth" so much.
