I came straight to this song this morning after news of ONJ' s passing. This is my favorite song of hers. It always put a smile on my face. Today it's accompanied by tears. RIP Olivia.
How could you not? Simply impossible! I fell in love with her voice the very first time I heard it when I was seven; forty-nine years ago and she has been my favorite vocalist ever since.
You never "stop believin´in the future, even when the cancer came back years ago! You were a lady with incredible courage and an exemple to many others who "Don´t Stop Believin´" in better days and to be free of the terrible desease! Thank you for your music and rest in peace dear lady!
I wonder how many dark mornings or endless nights she helped millions of people get through over the years with this hopeful and inspirational song. I know there have been more than a few times when I’ve listened to it on repeat myself ❤️
Today I heard we had lost this beautiful lady. Vale Olivia. Gone, NEVER FORGOTTEN. Your music, gorgeous smile and generosity will remain in the hearts of us all. Thank you for making the world a better place. 💖
As a cancer survivor, this was one of my go to songs. When I got the news that she died, I went right to this song. It’s my favorite of hers. Heartbreaking to lose her. She will be missed by me and her fans.❤️🌈
Olivia is One of The Greatest Singers I Ever Heard !! She has a Gift Of Talent That Is Just Pure Amazing !! I was Blessed with a high school girl friend that looked like her twin, so I could only imagine God was having a Great day when she was born. 😃💖
Thank you for commenting about the song. More people than not have been commenting about Olivia Newton-John than the song itself. Even though she is such a great talent and sings the song with such emotion, we should never ever forget just how wonderful and powerful that the lyrics to this song are. Maybe it's me, but many people who are commenting don't seem to be recognising that. You're someone who has, and like you say, this song never gets old.
RIP Olivia Newton-John. She has one of the most beautiful voices her and Helen Reddy as they were both my favorite female artist back when I was a little kid. This is my favorite Olivia Newton-John song.
Listening to this after hearing the devastating news. I wasn't born until well after her peak, but for years I have been listening to her work from the 70s and 80s. Love you ONJ
Olivia Newton John's magnificent song, "Don't Stop Believin' " is one of the most uplifting, inspiring songs ever recorded! Thanks so much Olivia for this all-time classic!
Don't Stop Belivein' You think the world should see things your way Love, i know you, you think good fortune's here to stay Love, i know you shined in everything you tried before Your smile can open any door But on those days when nobody wants to know you And all your smiles keep falling on stoney ground Don't stop believin', don't stop believin' Don't stop believin', you'll get by Bad days, bad days will hurry by You never chase your dreams, they find you Love, i know you, if you need love, it finds you too Love, although you sail alone and free I'll follow in your wake And pray one day my heart you'll take
Olivia has such a beautiful angel like voice, it's such a timeless masterpiece, I could listen to this Lady's music all day and want more of it, that's for sure, I so love Olivia xx
She is a TIMELESS superstar! ... I have her memoir....a beautiful song and a beautiful lady in more ways than one.. RIP ONJ you are my angel.. 🙏Thanks from NZ 👍🇳🇿
Just watched a TV special on this incredible lady and her amazing career. Her outlook on life is inspirational and she is a class act. This is one of a collection of beautiful songs Olivia sang in the 70's. The recording captures her crisp clear angelic voice and like her, is ageless.
This is the song that I was seeking , but is better the other tape when Olivia is singing more at the end the song is cuted and speaks a Sr. I'd rather the another tape , because Olivia is so pretty.
This song helped me "get by" many bad days in 1976. Away from home, alone, and in college in Tallahasse Florida and working at a local phone company I chased my dreams. Some dreams came true, most didn't but I didn't stop believing. I feel fortunate I am still here to speak about it.
Mine also. I LOVE BOTH these singers and their songs very much. Wow this song is still relevant "Don't Stop Believin'" You think the world should see things your way Love, I know you, you think good fortune's here to stay Love, I know you shined in everything you tried before Your smile can open any door But on those days when nobody wants to know you And all your smiles keep falling on stoney ground Don't stop believin', don't stop believin' Don't stop believin', you'll get by Bad days, bad days will hurry by You never chase your dreams, they find you Love, I know you, if you need love, it finds you too Love, although you sail alone and free I'll follow in your wake And pray one day my heart you'll take But on those days when nobody wants to know you And all your smiles keep falling on stoney ground Don't stop believin', don't stop believin' Don't stop believin', you'll get by Bad days, bad days will hurry by
I know . . . the wholly different Journey number totally overshadowed this. (I wonder if the five to date that voted this down are more preferential towards Journey's.)
I also listened to this album as a teen in Japan. Her crystal clear voice still comforts me. My favorite songs are this song,Sam and New borne Baby in this.
As beautiful on the inside as on the out as tributes coming in this week suggests. Thank you Olivia for this lovely uplifting song and all the happy memories you have given to people around the world. A life well lived.
I was a teenager and a working drummer during this era, and you would not believe how the so-called music critics trashed Olivia Newton-John every chance they got. John Denver was also done this way. Olivia has one of the sweetest voices that I have ever heard, and most of her single releases were hits, and they were damn good records to boot. I am not a fan of musicals, but I went to see her in "Grease," and she was really good-------with her singing and acting. Though she has been very sick for a long time now, Olivia Newton-John is still with us, and I am sure that she knows that her many fans love her. As for those 'big time' music critics in the 1970's who trashed Olivia Newton-John every chance they got; they are all long dead and forgotten. Every damned one of them!
I remember that too. Here in the UK, "saccharine" was the word they used. If you actually listen to her songs, they're anything but. She was an extraordinarily good interpreter, free of unwanted vibrato, and sang with great feeling. She also attracted top quality collaborators. It still doesn't feel real that she's not here any more.💔
Music critics almost never stand up to historical scrutiny. They are way too concerned with "acting cool" and maintaining their reputations to acknowledge the obvious musical talent of certain "light pop" artists.
Thanks for pointing this out. Pop music critics in the 1970's in the U.S. made it their job to trash artists like ONJ and John Denver every chance they got, yet when an Elton John would put out a new record during this same era, these same assholes would fall all over themselves praising it for its 'depth' and 'meaning', etc. The song in question was "Island Girl". To hear these critics endlessly flap their gums about "Island Girl" being some paragon of pop/rock music brilliance made me want to puke back then, but it is even more laughable today when one realizes that "Island Girl" is really nothing more than a racist, totally stupid piece of Top-40 claptrap that zoomed up the charts when it was released, then was justly forgotten about just as quickly.
I do remember this from my youth, oddly enough; one year in school, they had this LP in the collection, and the title track was played, not totally but enough so it stuck in my head lo these many years. I.M.H.O., this makes the Journey number all the more overrated by comparison and in relation.
