this show was AMAZING back in the day!! OMG! at the same time this was happening, Tina was about to go over the falls and Viki was going through the 8-year memory loss/on her way to heaven. Oh and we can't forget about crazy MARIA!!! LOL GREAT STUFF!
Well, the youth had definitely gone wild in Llanview back in 1986! I love how each actress plays her scenes with real emotions. Back in 1986 when Diane says, "I couldn't!", it was like well, when she says it like that how can you argue! What I'll never understand is how they put this MUCH into really a back burner plot. Amazing. Truly amazing, Vick!
@GETOSUPASTAR Yes, I felt so bad for Max when Tina humiliated him like that at the altar. Tina married several more times after that (mostly to that lunkhead Cord). I'll never forget how upset I was when Tina went over the falls. I thought she was gone for good. This was before the Internet, and I didn't know Tina would be back until I saw her on Entertainment Tonight a month later. The Eterna storyline ( like the 1888 one) was dumb, but had me watching every day.
@GETOSUPASTAR I remember all of the scenes you mentioned. And let's not forget Lysander, the magician who would disappear in a puff of smoke, and that Indian that Viki visited to help her find Clint in the Old West. I made fun of all this back then, but I recall it fondly now. I agree completely that soaps aren't what they used to be, and that's probably why they've been dropping like flies. When you think about it, NOTHING is as good as it used to be. I'm sounding like an old person now!
lol @Seventiesfan You're right, i feel old sometimes too when i talk of the "good old days" of soaps...i miss them. its weird i think the scenes/episodes that stick out the most are the ones mostly of Andrea Evans cause i LOVED me some Tina Clayton Lord Roberts Roberts Roberts Vickers! :) When she went over the falls in Argentina, when she was in the lab w/ Patrick and got burned on her arm, when she & Gabrielle fell into Eterna, the infamous "i tina take thee cord..." moment, etc...i can go on!
Yea i know what you mean @Seventiesfan Some of these scenes from OLTL i was like 6/7 years old @ the time and i remember seeing it like it was yesterday (Tina poisioning Maria....Didi & "faux" Bo being electrocuted... Tina & Ursula falling out the lighthouse...Steve being killed by the exploding wedding cake, etc...) its amazing the things that stick out... but yea for whatever reason this scene w/ Dorian & Diane i recall vividly... too bad most soaps these days aren't as memorable...
Thanks for posting this, it's nice to see a little more of what Dorian was doing. Robin is so beautiful, that hair and wardrobe was not fair to her. I feel sorry for Dorian -- she takes in waifs and strays and most of the time they let her down. The woman who played Diane wasn't a brilliant actress but I did feel her emotions. Was she Amerasian? She reminded me a little of Mia Korf. Cassie looks like the Jolly Green Giant.
@GETOSUPASTAR Dorian met Diane in Statesville Prison and took a liking to her, despite Cassie's suspicions. Dorian was proven innocent of murdering the evil Mitch Lawrence and released from prison, along with a few others who served out their sentences. Apparently Diane was released due to insufficient evidence (she was accused of drug dealing). Dorian helped the police uncover corruption (drugs) in the prison. Just about everyone on the staff was crooked, including the warden and the matron.
The show is an embarrassment now (I've quit watching again), but back in the 80's I rarely ever missed an episode. Everything about the show was better then, including Dorian. You will immediately notice the look of compassion on Dorian's face when crazy Diane was rambling on. You won't see anything like that today. These days Robin Strasser/Dorian's performance has more ham in it than a butcher shop. It's a shame because she was a great actress once, and could be again-if she let herself.
@GETOSUPASTAR Actually, that's not true. I used to ALWAYS know what was going to happen, who was leaving, staying, and it was ALWAYS INTENSE. Now, these shows FINALLY have accessibility on the web I know a lot of storylines, but I've been surprised by the psychology and build up that is just not existent anymore! Interestingly, I never knew Diane, Allison OR Maria was leaving the show which meant that OLTL must have decided to keep them secret. I guess they knew the scenes would be classic!
@shrinefilms1 I know. There's a fair amount of effort here, in the fight choreography (which looks very rehearsed but hey, how often do you see this on soaps now -- women solving all their own problems), and then in Diane going out the window. I sure wouldn't want to live in a place where you could so easily go out the window if someone grabs your ankle the wrong way...I guess it's a good thing Blair never lived there.
wow i was 8 years old when this aired but i remember this scene like it was yesterday... but i dont recall the backstory (other then the fact that diane was bat shit crazy) what was the storyline???
@@southwestjohnny7767 To add to that, Diane was actually trying to build a new life but she got tangled up with Jamie Sanders somehow and he blackmailed her into doing all sorts of crimes, including murder eventually.
@GETOSUPASTAR Ha ha... Separated at birth? You will be happy to know you're too young! I agree about Tina's last appearance. It was a real snore, although I didn't watch much, other than Jessica losing her marbles again. Lately, the show has a bad habit of ruining (and killing) older characters they've brought back- Gabrielle Medina, Lee Halpern, Pamela Buchanan... This isn't the way to win back viewers, and this show can't afford to lose any more of them.
@shrinefilms1 I've never been one that liked spoliers...i much rather be surprised..it makes more of an impact to not know what to expect....but i guess whether you read all the mags or online, its out there if you wanna know...i think "Y&R" is one show that has consistently done a good job of keepin major storylines bombshells a secret....
@@nightowlchad I totally forgot about Cusi! Cusi Camm? I liked her too However, I liked Holly. Laura’s Cassie was a weakling victim, guess that partly the writers & producers fault.
@@cidweinberg Cusi Cram originated the role. I saw Holly as an older version of Cassie and didn't find her as a good actress. Laura I found her to cry 😢 on cue instantly. But IMHO
I think we must be separated @ birth! @Seventiesfan LOL But yea, i miss the days when everything was spolier free...not to go on a tangent, but i think the internet is partially to blame w/ the death of soaps... when you know whats gonna happen days or weeks before it airs, it takes all the fun out of it...for me anyway... but personally i wish that Andrea was still on the show but after they destroyed the character of Tina when she finally reprised the role last year i doubt she'd return again.
