Love both these riders, both so impressive. How puissance riders remain calm is a mystery to me. I won a junior-amateur puissance in the late 70s -- only one I ever entered -- & nearly died of fright. We measured fences in feet back then; the final wall was only 5'3" but was the scariest #$@ing thing on earth because it just... sat there... lurking... by itself... I was terrified. Only reason I my horse & I jumped it is that I was frozen in horror, unable to stop my runaway freight train horse. My junior jumper's nickname was "Plowboy" because he never stopped, even when he should. If that wall had been 10 feet, he would've plowed straight through it then bolted uncontrollably... Flatwork was not a thing for jumpers back then.
I really enjoyed watching this video. I can't believe Laura Renwick decided to quit on the next round after she had cleared the round before! She was doing so well!
she wanted to end on a high note- lot of respect for a rider who knows not to over jump- yes she might of cleared it, but her horse might have spooked and had a fear planted in its head, so they might never jump pui again xD :)
